Now that it's out in the open and letting loose all of its secrets, Persona 5 has sprung up the most wanted list of many a gamer. If you were already left extremely excited by the game's brilliant gameplay trailer, then you might want to sit down before we shower you in new information from Japanese publication Dengeki PlayStation.
The magazine's scans, which have been kindly translated by Gematsu, spill the beans on numerous aspects of the upcoming role-playing game. For starters, the protagonist and his friends attend a private high school, which appears to be located in Tokyo, so you can expect a rather dramatic departure from Persona 4's sleepy town setting.
Next up is the news that the title will, like its predecessors, run on a calendar, and you'll still have to attend classes and social events on certain days and at certain times. As hinted in the latest trailer, you'll be living a normal life during the day, and then donning masks at night in order to go and steal stuff as a thief. We can likely expect more details on this element of the release in the coming weeks.
As for gameplay, you'll be able to sneak past enemies as you traverse dungeons if you're looking to avoid a fight, or, as usual, you can run into them and engage in combat. Speaking of which, exploiting enemy weaknesses is still the key to success in battle.
The scans also highlight the protagonist's persona, Arsene, who appears to be incredibly well designed, and even sports something of a top hat, and no, he has nothing to do with Arsenal's weary manager. Finally, the game's soundtrack is apparently described as acid jazz, which, we suppose, can only make perfect sense at this point.
Gaze upon the pages that we've embedded, and compete to see who's the most hyped in the comments section below.

No shimapan No hype
@MadchesterManc Disgraceful.
@MadchesterManc Why did I Google this? Sigh.
@get2sammyb @MadchesterManc whats shimapan?
@Mr_McNight it's short hand for striped panties. Like the typical blue and white ones present in ecchi anime. Lol
Acid jazz based soundtrack? Now they're just trying to cater this game to me!
So hyped man.
@get2sammyb I made that same mistake, laughing like a fool on public transport
Man this game looks too sick!
I skipped all of the info because I don't wanna know TOO much before playing. I just skimmed to see if they hinted at a release date and I was saddened that they didn't
I never played a Persona game and I was thinking that I should start with the Golden for Vita! Will I lose too much if I don't play the others?
@AFCC You won't lose anything, just buy it! You will not regret it! Besides, it's as cheap as ever in the PSN store
@AFCC from early details, P5 gonna be very different from P4...
But do play P4G, it's one of the best offering on Vita.
Beyond excited right now.
@AFCC
Not too long ago, I was like you. I had never played a Persona game before. Then my PS3 blu-ray drive died, so I traded in my disc games & got a PS TV. One of the reasons, was to play Persona 4 Golden on my TV because I heard it was amazing but I was always put off by the anime look of the art.
Since then, I no longer sleep much & I basically go to work & play Persona 4. It's that good. It took awhile to get past the VERY Japanese look & style of the game, but once I did........wow. Now I want Persona 5. Badly.
So, in other words, go get Persona 4.
I befriended Lotus Juice on Facebook for the heck of it a while ago and he accepted me.. So of course I'm on hype cloud nine right now!
Thank you all I will buy it soon so I can introduce myself to the world and be even more excited for Persona 5
That persona, Arsene, looks like a Jack White fever dream...in the best possible way.
My theory that Atlus cannot give Persona's regular feet still stands true.. However, Arsene is probably my new favorite design. Can't wait to see what Sakamoto's will look like (Sakamoto is basically this game's Yosuke after all!).. Gah, ATLUS, REACH OUT TO MY WALLET, WHILE SEEKING TO SEIZE ON MY WHOLE MONEYS, YEAH.
I haven't played any Persona or SMG games before, could I start off with Persona 4 (PS2 Classic) and not be confused?
I'd play Golden but don't see myself owning a Vita anytime soon.
