We'd have been doing a pretty poor job on this website if we weren't reporting on PlayStation, but it seems that we've got competition from the rest of the media, as Sony's brand dominated the headlines in 2014. According to ICO Partners, which tracks the content published on some 6,000 websites, PlayStation was by far the most talked about gaming brand last year, receiving some 560,573 articles compared to just 411,380 stories on Xbox.
The split between coverage actually increased as the year went on, with PlayStation being mentioned over 50,000 times in December, while Xbox coverage tallied around the 30,000 mark. This is likely due to sales of the Japanese giant's device exploding over the course of the year, with European publications more likely to cover the more popular platform.
Despite all of this, Titanfall was the most talked about game of 2014, beating out Minecraft with 40,341 mentions. Destiny, Assassin's Creed Unity, and Grand Theft Auto V all registered in the top five most reported games, while Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Watch Dogs, and Battlefield 4 rounded out the list. Interestingly, our most covered story here at Push Square was the PlayStation Network – namely 'cos it's down every couple of days.

to be fair Destiny was only reported so much because of how disappointing it was and AC Unity because of how broken it was
