Ignore the hyperbole in the headline, because contrary to popular belief, the PlayStation Network rarely goes offline completely when it's undergoing scheduled maintenance.
Later this week, from 17:00PM GMT until 20:30PM GMT on Thursday, 12th February, you won't be able to access account management, the PlayStation Store, and various entertainment services. However, as per usual, you'll still be able to play online if you sign in before the maintenance begins.
It's happening during peak times here in the UK, but does it affect your plans at all? Rant uncontrollably in the comments section below.

Sony really needs to figure out how to do maintenance without psn going down. It's kind of insane that this is still the case in 2015.
@mitcHELLspawn I have never heard of anything doing maintenance without going offline. Especially if the maintenance needs a system reboot to take effect.
Wow... The Maintenance Station! Lol. It's all good, I haven't been playing online games in a while. Just twitch streaming my RERemake run throughs. Sony will get it together.
@Tasuki lol I've got one for you.. xbox live.
@mitcHELLspawn Yeah, no. Hate to break it to you but XBL has gone offline for maintenance. I even had Nintendo Network go offline.
@Tasuki yeah, no. Obviously xbox live has gone down for maintenance in the past... but when was the last time? Over a year ago maybe? Psn is forced offline for maintenance on a monthly basis. It's pretty pathetic.
@mitcHELLspawn i agree it seems like every month.I wonder what they even do considering as u said xbl isnt down often.iv had the 360 longer about 8almost 8 years i think and the ps3 since right after black friday 2013 and i think psn has ben down in that time more then my whole time with my 360.....not counting how many times i sent it in for ring of death.i dont know how often it may have ben down then.
dont take that the wrong way i like the ps3 since i had it and psn isnt bad.i just think it goes down alot.cant complain since im not a plus subscriber
@mitcHELLspawn You must dont play your Xbox alot then. I had XBL go down for maintenance about a month ago and then a month before that but that was due to the Christmas day attacks but still they went down.
I know what you are doing and it's ok that you don't like Sony but quite with the fanboy stuff please. Every company has its problems so don't be so naive that MS doesn't have its share of problems and just point out Sony's.
@Tasuki lol get a grip dude. Xbox went down for the xmas attacks and went down possibly around 4 hours in total since. Oh and Xbox live was down extremely briefly at xmas whereas Sony was down for days. Psn has been down around 8 times since Christmas.
Poor blind fool
Too funny how someone insults your precious Sony and you automatically revert to calling someone a fan boy. I game on all consoles including pc. Xbox is my number one platform so I would know if it was down. I'm not sure how I didn't point out xbox problems. I said the times it's been down.. but it's nowhere even near as much as psn.. not even in the same ballpark.
@mitcHELLspawn For your information I too game on everything PC PS Xbox and Nintendo as well as a bunch of older systems so Sony is not really so precious to me as you think. I just love how you claim that you claim that your not an Xbox fanboy just because you game on other systems. Yet clearly when you get the chance you bash Sony. Still as I stated you don't have to LOVE Sony to be here but lets not start any unwarranted fights.
@Tasuki haha if only you saw the things I said everywhere and anywhere about xbox during the run up to the release of the xbox one. I was seriously one of the most vocal detractors of xbox one and its policies. It wasn't until Phil Spencer took over and we started to see some real changes and them showing how much it humbled them that I began picking up for it again. I guess what I'm trying to show here is I don't bash Sony just because I'm a bigger fan of xbox. Literally the only bad thing I ever have to say about Sony and ps4 is about psn.. and I have definitely been very vocal on that front time and time again because I believe it's completely unacceptable. It is a PAID service these days after all. The only reason I bring xbox into that specific discussion is because it's the most directly related platform to compare it to, and I'm just being honest when I say that xbox is much more stable on that front.
If we were to talk about other things such as games running better or the quality of ps+ compared to xbox gold then I would very clearly say that the ps4 is much better in those specific areas. It just seems to me that it's you who is being naive here and is defending something that deserves to be put down.
I am working during those hours so luckily it doesn't effect me but @mitcHELLspawn is right xbl is down much less than psn and the ps is my 'main' system
@ReigningSemtex for sure it does. All one has to do is look at the facts and see the dates of downtime rather than try to make something up like @tasuki does to try to validate his opinion of psn. It must be cognitive dissonance preventing people like that from admitting how bad it really is. In relation to a service like xbox live especially. I would compare it to Nintendos online service but I don't own Nintendo consoles so the obvious comparison for me to make is to xbl. Just because I can objectively see that xbox live has a much more stable and better online service it in no way makes me a "fanboy" if that was the case how can I compare Sony to xbox on lots of other things and in those cases find the ps4 to be much better. Anywayyy I've definitely said enough on this matter.
More down time in UK prime time. Sounds like Sony needs to get with the 21st century programme (Ie cloud computing). I expect Microsoft don't need to take down xbl to upgrade as it's either on their azure platform or a hybrid of azure. Maybe Sony should ask Microsoft or Amazon for some help
@mitcHELLspawn I agree with you, I have had the Xbox 360 for 3 years and Xbox live network has gone down 4 or 5 different times for about 15 minutes each time and that is in 3 years. I and my daughter use Xbox live all the time, enough to know that the Xbox live is very stable. I just got the ps4 and their network has gone down for hours like 4 times and that's just in the last week I have had it. I got ps4 because I liked their streaming idea, 20 bucks a month to me was a great deal because my daughter gets tired of the games 2 weeks after buying it. I have over 150 games and she don't really play them. I know ps4 will have way more games on there to stream soon. When I compared the ps4 vs Xbox one. I found that Xbox one to me was more like a add for Xbox 360 and ps4 had more gaming options as well as being more kid friendly... but as much as they go offline, I am kind of wondering if getting the WII U might have been a better decision...
