We're swimming in Resident Evil goodness right now, between the recently released REmake and the forthcoming Revelations 2. However, we reckon that this impressive Resident Evil 2 fan makeover is the icing on the cake. It's been built using Unreal Engine 3 by franchise aficionado Rod Lima – but sadly it's never getting a commercial release.
Eurogamer.net explains that the creator started the project as a means to help him to understand how Epic's game engine works. He built the 3D environments using assets from on-rails shooter Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, which includes portions of Claire Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy's urban escapade. The remake originally started life as an over-the-shoulder shooter, but has since reverted to a more faithful recreation, with the series' famous fixed camera angles intact.
There are rumours that Capcom's planning to bring an updated version of its seminal sequel to new consoles, but an upgraded Resident Evil Zero seems much more likely at this juncture. Either way, make sure that you indulge in the full playthrough below, and let us know whether you'd be up for a Resident Evil 2 remake in the comments section.

Blast Sammy, I knew there was a 99% chance you were talking about a fan remake from the headline but I still held out hope for a new one from Capcom
I know it's too much to ask, but ... is there any chance you can tone down the subheading puns in every single headline?
@Nickolaidas lol, why? It's cheesy, and fun.
@Nickolaidas Grab yourself a Snickers, you turn into a right boreoff when youre hungry.
