Dan Marshall's steampunk cybercrime caper The Swindle will be holding the PlayStation Store hostage later this year, Curve Digital has announced. The prolific publisher will be porting the indie adventure to the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Vita, though there's no word on whether it'll be cross-buy just yet. Given the UK-based outfit's previous output, we're going to go out on a limb and guess that it will be.
Described as a fusion of "platform, action, and stealth gameplay", the title will see you breaking into various buildings, hacking their systems, and grabbing as much green as you can see. "The buildings and levels you'll be exploring are all procedurally-generated, and players will be able to upgrade their thief with new skills and tools after every job allowing them to take on bigger buildings with more elaborate security," the press release explains. It's the robber's equivalent of Rogue Legacy, then.
You can check out the debut trailer down below, which hints at a seriously sharp soundtrack. Are you a petty thief at heart? Keep your hands to yourself in the comments section below.

Yeah... this just isn't doing it for me. I can see it being a plus title, but not being a particularly popular one.
One I'll keep an eye on for Vita-fodder!
@Johnnycide That was my thought too. When the launch date is announced, it'll be the first Tuesday of a month...
@glassmusic ....and there will be little to no rejoicing.
This just seems like a tired idea in a tired genre. It's trying to meld Spelunky, Stealth Inc and rogue legacy and just looks completely phoned in. It's like they came up with the idea in 5 minutes and decided "well, we'll make it all steampunk. kids dig steampunk" and threw it together.
The final straw is the dubstep-by-numbers music in the trailer. Who gets excited by this? Who is watching this trailer thinking "oh man. Day one. This is what I'm into".
Just.. enough already!!!! innovation isn't a dirty word. I bought futuridium a while back. Hated it, but at least it was different. I bought Rock Boshers and at least that was quirky, it had enough charm to make it worthwhile. I love "indie" games, but the whole thing seems to be stagnating to the point that very little stands out.
