Those of you looking for a taste of old-school action will be able to satisfy your Japanese role-playing game cravings with Suikoden I and Suikoden II on the European PlayStation Store today. The hard-to-pronounce hits launched in North America last year, but are finally available to play on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation Vita, and PlayStation TV overseas today.
The two titles originally released in 1997 and 2000 on the PSone, and immediately garnered a cult following. Sony's third-party productions department worked closely with Konami to bring the titles overseas, which have been a source of fan demand for some years. The releases will cost you just £3.99 apiece – bargain, huh?

Yes, yes, yes and more YES Suikoden I is one of the finest rpgs I have ever played, and I have been waiting for years to be able to finish the story off (Suikoden II being a direct sequel, where III onwards were not I don't think)! This week is not a good time for my backlog - both of these, plus all the brilliant games now on PS+, as well as some great savings in the latest deals as well (particularly looking at Alien and Velocity Ultra). Beating my backlog is increasingly becoming an impossible task, but I'm sure as hell enjoying trying!
Forget "greatness awaits", as far as I'm concerned this week "greatness" is definitely right here
@SteveButler2210 Never played this. Definitely worth a go?
@General_Spiller If you're a fan of traditional RPGs then without a doubt it's worth a go, especially at that price! Some advice though would be that there's a lot to do in the game (there are 108 characters in total), and you will almost certainly miss some first time round, but don't resort to a walkthrough to avoid missing them - just play it for yourself first time for maximum enjoyment, and accept that you will probably miss stuff, as you can always do a second playthrough with a guide some time further down the line
@SteveButler2210 Cheers. Planning a long stint overseas soon so I need a few games loaded up on the Vita. I love the older RPGs which is why this piqued my interest. Sold then...i'll give it a whirl, as you say, price is good. Cheers for the advice.
So excited! Just a heads up for everyone that you can't download Suikoden II directly to your Vita. You can buy both on the web version of the psn (not Vita) but not actually download. Konami is saying this will change by the end of the day. We'll see, seems unlikely at this hour.
Somehow they managed to ruin it... I cannot download Suikoden 2 on my Vita. Seems like they won't fix it today. Yet they never fixed Vita compatibility with the two Silent Hill PSP games last year.
And that worries me belmont...
Ugh i miss my copy. Wish i had kept it. Shame this isnt a US download
Haven't played it but heard good things so I will be getting suikoden soon
