In what is a thoughtful addition to Destiny, the game's next patch will introduce colourblind options to the release, helping those that have trouble discerning various colour tones. Update 1.1.2 will also include audio options for those who want to fiddle about with the title's sound.
"Destiny relies on color to communicate some pretty important information to the player, particularly in the user interface," writes Bungie's Brad Fish. "You may not have trouble distinguishing the red blips on the motion tracker from the red surface of Mars, for example, but chances are you know someone who does. Our solution for this subset of our community is a proper "Colorblind Mode" for Destiny."
He continues: "Adapting the existing user interface to support various color blind modes turned out to be a fairly complex challenge, but we managed to build a flexible toolkit for our designers that helped them do just that with minimally-invasive surgery and no negative impact to existing functionality." It sounds like the developer's done an admirable job here, and hopefully it'll allow affected players to enjoy the title as intended.
As mentioned, the patch deploys some audio options, too. You'll be able to tweak the overall noise level, chat volume, and toggle the game's music on and off - although we're not sure why you'd want to when the soundtrack's as good as it is here.
Expected to launch in the near future, Destiny's newest update promises a slew of additions and fixes, including granting users more storage space. Will these new options have an effect on your experience? Alter some sliders in the comments section below.

Thats great news for everyone who this applies to, hopefully this will set a trend with developers. Options like this should be standard.
@SouthTippBass
Agreed. It still baffles me how many puzzle games do not have these options. It is almost as if devs don't have colourblind people in their teams to try it, or to raise the issue to their superiors so it can be fixed.
Too bad I don't care for Destiny, though.
Is it just me or shouldnt things like colour blind options have been there since the start?
Id consider it a basic option.
It's nice that it's finally been thought of. However, I am colour blind and have never experienced any major issues in games anyway. Perhaps the odd occasion in a racing game, when trying to learn a track with the racing line and struggled to distinguish the green and yellow, but aside from that, not very much.
Nevertheless, it's a nice thought, but since I don't own Destiny, I don't know how much of a difference it would have made.
