Once again speaking to Famitsu, Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata has said that female characters could join the party as guests during the course of the game.
These statements follow on from Tabata's comments just last week, when he mentioned that an all-male party made the title "more approachable". When asked about women joining Noctis' gang, he said: "It's possible we'll have female characters join the party as guests", and goes on to say that "but since it's an all-mate party, when you have a female character as a guest, their behaviour might change because a woman is around."
It'll be interesting to see how having a guest character changes gameplay, but are you disappointed that there doesn't appear to be a permanent female party member, or are you happy to lose yourself in the bromance? Take a road trip into the comments section below.

Tbh, I get tired of hearing about what sex/racial cast makes up a party. Who cares? The game developers create a cast of characters to fit the game. It's not our business what they do. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Eventually things will change. That's the entire basis of a free economy. Unfortunately everyone thinks instead of not patronizing something, the gov't needs to regulate it. UGH!
I want that pony haired girl
because she looks so...

I enjoyed the all male cast. I like how they interacted. They seemed to be really good friends, so I'm excited to learn how those friendships came about
Beyond sick of everything being a damn gender issue. Put a hot chick in the game it's a problem. Don't put women in the game, you're a woman-hating p.o.s. The whole thing is so stupid. You know who gets more poorly represented in every form of media? African Americans and they don't complain half as much. Enough with the damn gender crap already. Are the characters likeable? Most importantly is the game as a whole, good? That's should be what matters. Not if the cast is made up of male or female.
@Cowboysfan-22 I definitely agree. And seeing a girl jump randomly in the party and see like Prompto get all figidity or something would be funny to watch lol.
I'm sick of this whining about the all-male cast - just check any Final Fantasy forum, and you'll see what I'm talking about.
The 'Stand By Me' narrative is one of the reasons why I'm very interested in Final Fantasy XV.
I'm ok if it's a temporary party member. As such it won't kill the dynamic in the long run. Hopefully this also means we'll get to see some footage of Stella soon.
Unless it's Cid, I don't care.
You're damned if you do you're damned if you don't so just do what you will Tabata.
@Gamer83 yeah.. those feminism whiner should go on complaining other entertainment form as well... especially those tasteless MV & obligated strip scene in movies...
What concerns me isn't the whining about gender (frankly the fact they're four stupid-looking goths is a more pressing issue, but I guess you guys have to be angry about women whenever possible so go ahead), but the fact he said "an all-male party made the title "more approachable"."
That's not a natural storytelling element, it's a statement that comes out of "design by committee." Somewhere, someone made a decision based on the fact they thought their audience found women less approachable, and that comes off really strange to me and makes me dubious about what they're actually going to deliver. And the fact they're being coy about "maybe adding guest women to it" is even less reassuring, because that reinforces the idea that the actual plot isn't finished yet.
If it's a game about four dudes on a road trip, so be it - but if it's a jumbled mess of art assets made with no guideance and attempts to please everyone, it'll be Final Fantasy 13 again.
