It's looking like God of War III, arguably the best, and easily the most jaw dropping title in Sony's series, is coming to the PlayStation 4.
If you're sick and tired of remasters, then feel free to stop reading and start complaining, but we reckon that this is at least a game worthy of another look on next-gen hardware.
According to VGNetwork.it, the title will be officially announced this afternoon on the PlayStation Blog, so we'll know soon enough whether this is just a rumour or not. It's worth remembering that it's also the franchise's tenth anniversary today, hint-hint. We'll keep you posted regardless, but try not to go all Kratos on your fellow readers in the comments section below.

would rather have a God of War IV we need to know what happened to Kratos and if he will take Athena down
Oh lord!
Edit: http://bit.ly/1CEDkvc
glad I skipped PS3 with all these remasters coming out a chance for me to check them out ^^
though I am one of the few who prefers Dante's Inferno over GoW 1 and 2.
Seriously? oh my, oh my...
I guess it's same to assume I can skip PS4 altogether and get the best games of it when PS5 rolls around.
I actually haven't played 3 yet, as I'm fairly new to the GOW series and I wanted to take a break between 2 and 3. If I didn't already own it for cheap I'd be interested - I played 2 in its entirety with a dualshock 4.
Brilliant game it still looks stunning on ps3 at 720p. I can only imagine how nice a 1080p 60fps remaster would look and play on the ps4. I'm somewhat sick of remastered games there's been a few too many this gen so far but some games are simply worthy and GOW III is definitely on that list.
@AyeHaley Me too. I do feel sorry for the ps3 owners a tad, however as an xbox owner since my ps2 died (original and 360) for the last 7-8 years this is a blessing. Funny gow2 was the last game I bought for my ps2 and it didn't work.
Kind of torn on this, big fan of the GOW series, but, another remaster?
Only way I honestly feel it would be worthwhile is if this (and other remasters) started getting some new content along with the upgraded graphics, and I don't mean a costume pack, I mean extra story DLC and maybe stuff that was cut from the game(s) originally, otherwise it just seems a bit pointless IMO.
Bring me that Poseidon boss fight in 1080p. HNNNGH.
A Gears or God of War collection? Sure, bring it on! a Master Chief of Master Thief collection? Instant buy! But please stop with remaking single games, adding almost nothing and charge us $40 - $65... It's ridiculous! Why do we as consumers have to pay twice (or 3 times : FFX) because MS and Sony can't be bothered to make their consoles backwards compatible. I'm stuck with all these games on my shelves which I can't play on my PS4, unless I'm willing to pay for a remaster or rent it via PSnow... And don't even get me started on digital games, that feels even more unfair to me.
And the thing is, these remakes never bring anything new to the table. The TLOU remake got 10s everywhere, but was still the same game as we played a year (!) earlier!!! I can't believe this sh*t! Recently I fired up Kingdom Hearts on my PS2 and it made me really wonder why we got a KH remake: the graphics don't look much better, and certainly don't justify the price tag.
It are just cashgrabs and people are willing to accept it because there is so little else to play. All we see is some graphical improvements in games like DriveClub, The Order, Second Son and Killzone, but none of these games show any sign of an evolution, let alone revolution, on more important aspects like gameplay and story. This generation is such a let down thus far and I honestly don't see a light at the end of the tunnel: big games like uncharted and Halo just look like more of the same and the most fun I'm having lately is with games like Helldivers and Ori.
Sony should get their act together and stop milking us for money. I don't care what other companies do, but I buy a PS for the first party games. I want to be blown away by new concepts or I wanna see what works perfected like Nintendo does best. My PS4 is gathering dust while I keep on playing on my PS3 (I actually play Helldivers there because of my MLG controller: DS4's thumbsticks are the worst), Wii U, Vita and older consoles. Sometimes I just boot up my PS4 to browse the library and visit the shop hoping there will be something to enjoy...

@themcnoisy - "I do feel sorry for the ps3 owners a tad"
Don't feel bad for us, we got to play all these great games years ago, feel bad for the non-PS3 owners
@rjejr don't feel bad for us non ps3 owners. We get to play these awesome remasters while you sit here and cry about it.
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
@Boerewors if backwards compatibility is such an issue for you then maybe you should consider getting into pc gaming and quit whining about it, you'll never have to worry about it on that platform.
And then you can spend MORE time gaming and less time writing 4 paragraph rants on forums.
@THEundying27
And this is why companies like Sony will never change... They try and fee you crap and you dig right in... Meeeeeeeeehhhhhh
@THEundying27 yup pc gaming, graphics cards, ram, more ram, bit more ram, footy manager, matches dont work, steam updates, bit more ram, steam updates, steams crashed my computer, more ram, gog, theme hospital, tearing, more ram, pc slows to a halt, pc world, virus, anti virus software, frame dip, graphics card, processor, more ram, crysis 3 out, more ram, multi thread, bios, sliders, ubisoft, arghhh, more ram, bit more ram, hair tesselation, more ram, metro, 15fps, new pc, more ram.... Ps4 no more ram ahhhhhhhhh.
@Boerewors fee me crap?
The only thing that gets fed is my hunger for gaming entertainment. The more games on the market whether it's new or remaster the better. That's how I look at it.
@THEundying27
So you honestly think games like this would come out if there were enough new and interesting games to choose from? It's not an and/ and story at this point.... You either play remasters/ indies or you don't play at all.
