At long last, the PlayStation 4 has launched in China. The system was due out earlier in the year, but a last-minute delay pushed the machine back until March. There were no similar setbacks earlier today, though, as a modest turnout welcomed the console in the colossal country. Judging by these photos posted on Reddit, there wasn't an enormous amount of fanfare – but enough people rocked up at the Sony store to make the dismal weather worth braving.
There's been a ban on video game systems in China for a while now, so this represents an important time for the region. However, there are still question marks hanging over the importance of consoles in the nation – especially with smartphones and computers ruling the roost. To its credit, Sony has brought over a handful of titles, including Knack, DriveClub, and LittleBigPlanet 3. It's also coveted some local content, such as Snail Games' popular King of Wushu.
Of course, we'd be remiss to overlook the fact that the PlayStation Vita also deployed in the territory today, again with a selection of good games, such as Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster. We'll probably have to wait a little while to learn just how well the systems are performing, but you can peruse pictures from one particular launch event through here. How popular do you reckon that Sony's device is going to prove? Make a few predictions in the comments section below.

I wish we got our hands on that FF X/X-2 two-cart set. That boxart....
Hmm there were millions of Articles when the Xbox ONE came out in China on every gaming site it seemed but hardly any Articles about the PS4 Launch. Very odd that. Would be brilliant if it(PS4) did really well over there but not sure if it will or not. Good luck SONY anyway;)
@Carl-G I think it's mostly because the Xbox One was more of a novelty as it released first.
"Knacks Adventures" loving the new name!
@get2sammyb Nintendo have already given it a shot over in china http://nintendo.wikia.com/wiki/IQue_Player
They can already preorder more than six games.
There wasn't a long queue because it's not that hard to buy a PS4 even when consoles were banned. Shops actually selling them in store like normal, usually smuggled in from Hong Kong..
I'm interested to see how PS4 and Xbox One are doing over there a couple years from now. There's a lot of potential if these companies can figure out how to appeal to that market.
I want that Dragon faceplate.
