Despite hosting its own press conference at this year's E3, it looks like Square Enix won't be bringing Final Fantasy XV along for the ride. Arguably the publisher's most sought after property, many fans are sure to be disappointed with the news.
Speaking in the latest Active Time Report livestream, director Hajime Tabata said that "E3 doesn't give us sufficient time to fully prepare. So I have been discussing with our marketing teams, and we've actually been considering Gamescom in August, instead of E3, as the target for the next major reveal."
Of course, this isn't the first time that the now almost decade-in-the-making title has skipped a major gaming event, but it's certainly becoming a bit of a tedious practice by this point. Still, we'll supposedly only have to wait until August's Gamescom gathering to get our next eyeful of Noctis and the gang.
Also, it's worth mentioning at this point that you probably shouldn't be banking on Final Fantasy XV releasing this year. There's been much speculation over when the title will actually launch, but we reckon that there's no chance of it hitting store shelves before 2016, especially now that it won't be showing its face at E3.
Were you hoping to see more at the Los Angeles event? Are you trembling with rage, or are you just accustomted to this disappointment at this juncture? Shrug it off in the comments section below.

But he DID say "next major," and that doesn't negate a minor appearance there. That's what I think, at least.
@Beta Hopefully that's the case. With Square having its own press conference, it's crazy to think that FFXV won't be there in some capacity.
@Shogunrok Yeah. Personally, I was betting that we would be seeing both KHIII and FFXV at E3, but it looks like my hope is crashing fast XD
What does the patch to the demo do?

Some minor details about it, should hear more soon.
I hope this means KH3 does get some time in the spotlight...I will be sad if they skip both this E3.
This just tells me that it's going to be a freaking LOOOONG time before FFXV even comes out. If SE aren't going to show it at E3, it's probably still two years of development time left. SE still up to their same old crap and it's not getting any better.
Ridiculous. They're stupid if they don't at least show a new trailer. They need to ride the hype of the demo if this is gonna make any money back.
@ztpayne7 Bundling the demo with a quick'n'dirty remake of a PSP game probably helped them cover some of the costs.
More info in Aug about FFXV relax people
Was going to say no FFXV means more time for showing The Last Guardian beford I realuzed this was about the Squenix event and not the Sony event.
So instead, no FFXV means more time for ports and new app games for smart devices. I bet half their event is dedicated to apps, and Im not even being sarcastic.
I can wait for FFXV now though, no Uncharted 4 means no PS4 and XCX will fill my JRPG needs for awhile (assuming it releases this holiday).
@rjejr no, no FFXV means they better show something related to KH3 if they know what's good for them...
Wow.
@ShogunRok Cheers, I read the patch article earlier. Didn't notice it as at the time this was near the top and the patch a bit further Down. I'm quite taken by episode duscae and I cant wait for ff15.
I'd bet on TGS for a full showing of FFXV.
Still, I'm pretty bummed that this game is taking so frickin long to come out.
Wait, so E3 won't have Zelda NOR Final Fantasy XV?
I HATE EVERYTHING!!!
@Kage_88
"Wait, so E3 won't have Zelda OR Final Fantasy XV?"
There is redemption... It's called Xenoblade Chronicles X. Just ask @rjejr
@rjejr
Oh, don't worry... I'm sure we'll get a reveal for Final Fantasy XIII trilogy this E3
@JaxonH Yay 😃
@JaxonH - "Final Fantasy XIII trilogy"
It's only funny when you add "Remastered" at the end. But yes.
XCX is too niche to be redemption, more like an adequate substitution. It may turn out to be equal to XV, and I'm sure I'll like it so much more than Zelda, but it's still niche. Probably shouldn't be so niche after the excellent Xenogears, the great Zenosaga, the "what happened to it" Xeno2, the OK ending Xeno3, and the so far excellent XC, but it's still niche.
@ShogunRok I'm still expecting a Summer or Fall 2016 release here, though the sooner the better, of course.
Zelda Wii U: The game that was pushed back after Aonuma and Miyamoto played xcx...
@rjejr
Who am I kidding, they'd never release a FFXIII Remastered Trilogy. They'd release them individually- one by one- over the course of the next 3 holidays
@JaxonH I think I would throw up if that happened...
