Sony's finally got around to releasing that PlayStation 4 firmware update that leaked the other week. The patch β dubbed v2.51 β is mandatory, and is available now. It weighs in at 245MB, and promises both enhanced "system stability" and improved "operation quality". We'll have a poke around shortly and let you know if there are any noticeable tweaks implemented as part of this.
The download on our modest connection took around five minutes, so this shouldn't put you out for too long. Of course, if you slap your system into Rest Mode, it'll do much of the heavy lifting for you while you're away. The future is now, friends.

No features fir what I can see, but it's running very smooth.
@noodleking1987 I was secretly hoping the PlayStation Store icon would be moved back. Alas...
I had a gut feeling that Oovoo video chat would be added with this update. But I totally agree with ps store being were it is. But definitely think Sony will improve the interface ,I just think there waiting for other features such as a media hub. Hopefully then we will get things in to files.
Mine has run quite poorly since the last update. Very slow and jittery. Hopefully this smooths things out. We'll see after work, I guess.
My home screen has been very laggy since the update, hope this improves.
"Mandatory" unless you try to connect to the internet.
well so far 30 min of waiting and ps4 wont start updating nice
I'd like a new update to the vita/PS3 firmware for the PSOne game emulator to allow save states.
@get2sammyb I'm waiting for that as well
The only thing I hope is that it gets rid of that "Discover" notification I keep getting about the Power options - EVERY SINGLE TIME I turn on the PS4. All the others appeared once... that one keeps showing up.
@Paranoimia I think if you "clear" the message, it pops back up later (I did this on my wife's profile and she still sees the message) but if you actually let it take you to the power options (by selecting the message) then it will go away (I did this on my profile, and I don't see it anymore). This is extremely anecdotal, only two test cases, but you should give it a shot (assuming its not fixed in this update).
I love fiber broadband took 37 seconds to download The best thing is my wife got it because she thought it'd speed up her old laptop. And who am I to stand in the way of her great ideas
@thedevilsjester Nope, I've tried everything... it still pops up. Seems to be a bug which several people are experiencing. Sadly, 2.51 doesn't seem to have corrected it. Fortunately, while I do find it quite irritating, it's not the end of the world.
@AG_Awesome amen
@gingerfrog lol what a bad person you are.
I'm having some UI lag during gameplay after this patch, very strange.
@remiixed Same for me....
