If you've never played four-player GoldenEye 64 then you either haven't lived – or you're making us feel really old. Either way, the concept of 'screencheating' was established in local multiplayer games as a means to triangulate the position of your enemies by looking across to their quadrant of the screen. Some even built elaborate structures to solve the problem, making matches much fairer as a consequence.
Screencheat, a quirky new first-person shooter for the PlayStation 4, is embracing the problem, however, building its competitive action around display spying. Here's the hook: you'll be totally invisible – the only way that your opponents will be able to find you is by watching your section of the screen. Landmarks and colour coded zones will make you easier to find, but your enemies will still need to pay careful attention in order to take you down.
It's, quite honestly, a brilliant concept – and it'll be buoyed by multiple maps and weapons. Even better, there'll be online support for up to eight players, in which the game will simply 'simulate' the local multiplayer experience over the Internet. It's certainly not a looker, but we reckon that developer Samurai Punk is onto something here. Are you intrigued by the innovative concept? Keep your eyes off in the comments section below.

Interesting take on split screen. Dont really enjoy playing on a postage stamp sized screen though, so I'll pass.
@thedevilsjester Technically, though, the whole sceen is the game, as you have to watch what others are doing. I understand what you mean, though.
This is a fun concept. With eight player though, what's represented on the screen? Will you just not be able to see certain players, and will other, different players not be able to see you? Seems like you'd be gunning down Mary, who can't see you, while getting gunned down by Bob, who you can't see. Hopefully they've got an elegant solution for that.
Also, I'm wondering if this would work with just two people on a couch? I mean, if you only wanted the two of you, and didn't want to hop online. If I could just play this with my wife, I know we'd get a kick out of it.
"Screencheating?" My friends and I always called it "screenjacking." I guess screencheating makes sense, but I think calling someone a "screenjacker" is more satisfying. I'd never heard of "screencheating" until I saw this game a while back.
@glassmusic You'll get eight little screens in eight player! Like this:
That sounds amazing. XD
This game looks to be a good laugh. Depending on the selling point, I would love to play this with my friends.
