Watch your corners

If you've never played four-player GoldenEye 64 then you either haven't lived – or you're making us feel really old. Either way, the concept of 'screencheating' was established in local multiplayer games as a means to triangulate the position of your enemies by looking across to their quadrant of the screen. Some even built elaborate structures to solve the problem, making matches much fairer as a consequence.

Screencheat, a quirky new first-person shooter for the PlayStation 4, is embracing the problem, however, building its competitive action around display spying. Here's the hook: you'll be totally invisible – the only way that your opponents will be able to find you is by watching your section of the screen. Landmarks and colour coded zones will make you easier to find, but your enemies will still need to pay careful attention in order to take you down.

It's, quite honestly, a brilliant concept – and it'll be buoyed by multiple maps and weapons. Even better, there'll be online support for up to eight players, in which the game will simply 'simulate' the local multiplayer experience over the Internet. It's certainly not a looker, but we reckon that developer Samurai Punk is onto something here. Are you intrigued by the innovative concept? Keep your eyes off in the comments section below.
