After that stunning debut demo – which was this author's personal pick for Game of the Year – enthusiasm for Hideo Kojima's take on the Silent Hill franchise was sky high here at Push Square Towers. However, following news that the esteemed director will be joining the editorial team on this very website, it seems that the veteran developer will no longer be associated with the survival horror release.
VG247 spotted that the Kojima Productions logo has been removed from the Silent Hills website, which is more or less in line with its rebranding operation around the web. While the game could still be good – director Guillermo del Toro is still involved as far as we can tell – it was the Kojima link that had us hyped. After all, Konami hasn't done a particular great job with this once popular property in recent years, has it?

F'ing Konami, what a joke. This company has entered SquareEnix level of sh*t imo.
See, that's glass half empty right there Sammy. I'm actually looking forward to the game now having the opportunity to develop into a first person shooter packed with day one DLC, microtransactions, product placement and some generic and loose tie in with the NFL.
I jest of course but the game somehow doesn't have the same kind of allure now that Kojima isn't involved in a lead role.
Wtf happened to all the japanese developers? Capcom, sega, ateri(?), square and now konami. Namco is the only one doing relatively fine. Sad times, konami will regret it after TPP.
Haven't heard much about the Silent Hills game for a while now...when is it to come out? Other than that, I don't think it will have the fanbase that it once had...I'm actually looking forward to UNTIL DAWN more!!!!
@tulaib_100 Most of them seem to be going with doing indie titles or Mobile games anymore. It's a shame, because I remember all of these companies being huge in the 8bit and 16bit console eras, and now...they're nothing. Whatever happened to some of the other companies like Virgin or the ones that made Friday the 13th or Nightmare on elm street for the nes. Konami made a lot of great games back in the days, now they're passing. Bandai still has a lot of great games, but sadly, not all of them are coming over here in the US, just being released in Japan, which is a shame for people who find the games interesting.
Urgh, usually don't get annoyed with video game news but this really sucks.
Having said that we don't know what is going on behind closed doors, the Konami/Kojima relationship may not be as bad as the media are suggesting and they may have made a deal for him to continue work on it as external entity. Kojima Productions doesn't need to be involved, per say. The removal of such branding may just be a formality in that regard and doesn't outright mean an end to any involvement from Kojima himself.
Also, Kojima personally seemed hyped for the project in interviews, so I would expect him to want to be involved and I'm hopeful they have come to an agreement.
Regardless, hopefully he has found a taste for horror and would pursue his own IP within the genre as his next project
Wouldn't it be nice if the whole Kojima/Konami split turned out to be just one big prolonged April Fools joke, all in very bad taste. Unfortunately, I don't see that being the case :/
We will see many revealing news after we passed april fools...lol
This will be the only Silent Hill game I ever buy if it sees the light of day and Kojima gets to be the one to finish his creation. If not and it does see the light of day, chances are it isn't going to be nearly as good as it would be if they had just let him finish the project, then it's a no go for me. Then again, I'll probably just be buying it for my best friend to play it in my stead anyways while I watch in horror, hahaha!
I really liked Downpour!
There gone all the hypes built up by PT last E3...
life............shattered.........fragments of broken dreams glisten in the fires of hell, reflecting the smoldering embers of the damned .
@SteveButler2210
I said that to a friend earlier. Sadly I doubt that's the case as well.
I'm holding out hope that he'll still be working on the game as a contractor. I'm also really hoping that Konami and Kojima's relationship isn't as bad as the media is making it out to be, though what Konami is doing is extremely petty either way. Kojima/Del Toro were the dream team as far as I'm concerned. I'm still really excited for this game and hope it turns out great as the teaser blew me away.
