We know that May's big PlayStation Plus lineup will be announced next week – but there's an image doing the rounds that purports to know the contents of the refresh. According to the rumour, you'll be netting some big games as part of your membership, including Rayman Legends and Knack on the PlayStation 4.
The remainder of the proposed roster includes Need for Speed: Rivals on the PlayStation 3, the excellent Shovel Knight on all three systems, and both Fruit Ninja and Asphalt Injection on the PlayStation Vita. It certainly looks believable at first glance – but we reckon that there are a few telltale signs that shatter the illusion.
Firstly, the Japanese giant has been very good at letting people know prior to a PlayStation Plus update if a game is likely to be part of the Instant Game Collection. As a result, the many people that just bought Shovel Knight this week would be very unhappy if it got given away a few days later, so we doubt that it'll be part of the lineup.
Moreover, for no reason at all, Rayman Legends is listed as a cross-buy title – despite this never being the case in the past. The manufacturer did once give away both versions of Dragon's Crown for free in similar circumstances – but if it was going to do the same here, why wouldn't it include the Vita version of Ubisoft's platformer, too?
We've also tried running the URL in the screenshot through Google Cache, but there's nothing there. In other words, we think that this is a hoax, and while we're certainly not saying that it couldn't come true, we'd recommend not putting too much stock into it right now. All will be revealed officially in a few days anyway.

Shovel Knight being free would bring about ungodly rage, can't see it happening, not worth the backlash.
@ShogunRok yeah, it's really unfair to people who paid full price. I'd like to see it on there, but not for a while.
I like seeing games that didn't get the attention or sales they deserved on there. The likes of Vanquish, Bulletstorm, etc. That's been a little more difficult on the ps4 til recently though.
@Johnnycide Bulletstorm has already been given away on PS+ so not sure if they would repeat it.
@Eldritch I know, so has Vanquish. I owned both before they were given away, but that's the sort of game I like seeing. I'm not bothered about indie or AAA or whatever, I just like good games.
Same here. I'm rather wishing they'd give it away again as I had it on another profile and wouldn't mind going through it again.
Whatever the Line up will be i don't like it This don't sound real really. What comes, comes i say. Always look forward to see what games come each month
Well done for reporting on this. Noticed it in the comments of another article. Come on knack!!!
It happened to OlliOlli2. I've been holding out for Plus with Shovel Knight.
That looks too good to be truth, you definitely won't see me complaining if they gave us all games on the list!
Considering Asphalt: Injection is on there, I doubt the list is real as well. The game must be top-rated to be considered. While there are few exceptions, as games can lower below the 70+ metacritic rating, and games are occasionally added to the service, which are new, this has never been the case that a game has been so low and given away for Plus.
So yeah, for that game to be currently at 49, and I have it, it sucks, I seriously doubt it will be the free game offered.
And if one is wrong, it's likely not the only one, as others have mentioned with shovel knight and the "cross-buy" issue with Rayman. Again, it's been done with Dragon's Crown, but I doubt it.
@ShogunRok tomb raider was free also at a point so I don't agree with the backlash. also Knack being free would be welcome with open arms but I find that hard to believe being a it's a first party title. but again would love to check it out.... or even Drive Club!
I thought Drive Club was getting ready to be a freebie for plus. Other than that, I don't see most of these games being free...and if they are, I already own all but Shovel Knight for it. Maybe if Knack is free and enough love is given to the game, they'll actually make a sequel to it!
Why is everything but the game names not in English? Shouldn't they be in a different language like everything else?
@Jaz007 not usually. The English language is used quite often in non English speaking countries. Sometimes, some japanese only games, have half the text already in english! I dont pretend to understand.
I have Rayman: Legends (thanks to GwG on XB1) and can't say that its 'great'. For a 2D platformer its good. I don't really know much about 'Knack' other than it didn't review well and not very highly rated by anyone I know. I also have no interest in Shovel Knight so if true, I can't see anything that I would rush to download myself. It could be yet another month of not downloading for me....
Why are so many people praying for knack? Ok it may have AAA production values. But the game is still absolute sh*T. I want good games on ps plus an knack isn't a good game.
The sad fact is most people would prefer a rubbish so called AAA game over a superb indie game .
Hope it's true, just so I can play Shovel Knight.
@Eldritch Bulletstorm was never a PS PLUS freebie. never.
Vanquish was.
@Davros79 Knack was never a triple AAA title.
just because it was $60 and on a disc.. and one of the few launch titles doesn't mean triple A.
@Mickael486 yes it was! I just checked my PS3 download list . It was around 4 years ago. I think it came out the same time that they gave away the Back to the Future point and click series.
