As if you didn't already have enough to do in Final Fantasy XIV Online: A Realm Reborn, blitzball - the underwater football-like sport from Final Fantasy X - may end up being added to the massively multiplayer online adventure. The news comes via IGN, after the publication spoke to Naoki Yoshida, the title's director.
"We can't say it's been decided yet, this may be just half-joking so don't write it down as confirmed", Yoshida said, adding: "there was a meeting about two months ago where I had a chance to speak with Kitase-San, and I mentioned there seemed to be a big demand for implementing a Blitzball element in Final Fantasy XIV, and Kitase-San was just like, 'Oh wow, I never knew that? That could be cool to consider!' So let's just say… that conversation happened."
As the director says, nothing has been confirmed at this point, but it does sound like the addition of blitzball may be considered by the seniors of the development team. A bit of a surprise, then, and we're sure Tidus is acting like an excitable child right now, but is blitzball something that you'd like to see in the MMO? Teach us how to blitz in the comments section below.

Well, they've got my interest for sure! LOVED Blitzball
I was never a fan of either of the Blitzball mini-games (having to play it for about 15-20 hours for the plat in X was a major chore), but I would still be interested to see how they would implement it in FFXIV!
I know some didn't like it, but I gladly spent hours playing Blitzball. Seeing it in an MMO would be quite interesting, to say the least.
Blitzball is okay, but as I never learned the Jecht shot I'm keeping the mighty Aurochs in last place. Playing ffx this week so may try to improve.
They should improve pvp first, add duels, more battlegrounds etc. and then play around with new content... lack of pvp was the reason I quitted
But still, Blitzball might be a cool concept. I didn't like it in FFX but online and action-based (like fifa maybe?) would be pretty interesting!
