While the PlayStation 4 hasn't received a whole lot of firmware updates since its launch, Sony's done a good job of ensuring that the major ones bring meaningful changes to the system. Features such as Share Play, for example, are real game changers – and the platform holder sees these as clear differentiators when compared to the competition.
Speaking as part of an investors day presentation earlier today, the manufacturer highlighted these kinds of improvements as integral to the system's future success, which it believes will reward it with a strong "competitive advantage". The question is: what kind of unannounced features do you think would really set the PS4 apart? Share your suggestions in the comments section below.

Deleting items from library
Game folders
^ Nailed it.
locking favorite games on the main menu bar thingy.
DNLA support... Storing movies and music on your console, changing your GT, allow any pictures as your background image, allow any Bluetooth headset to work on the console, improve share play, customize the XMB so you can pick what's on the media cross bar.... And a few others
Better organization is key.
Do people actually use share play? I always thought it was a really cool feature but I'm not sure I'd ever actually use it
@ztpayne7 To be honest, I'm not sure - but they advertised it a fair amount here in the UK.
Share play that works would be nice. My ps TV is in a box now cos it's useless.
I hope my Xbox can do it when windows 10 arrives because my ps4 is terrible with pstv. And it's a wired connection!
I think I've used Share Play once and that was to try a game out before I bought it. As others have said I would like to have a "favourites" on the main menu/screen.
I wonder why PS4 hasn't had a dedicated Twitch app like X1? Yes it has Live from PlayStation but it's not good enough. Considering E3 is soon there should be a more reliable way of viewing the Sony's conference instead of trying to use the browser.
@unionjack3rd make sure the settings on your PSTV / PS4 are not set to connect directly (forget the exact settings but can look it up when I get home if you need me to). Remote Play performance was awful for me even with wired connection into the same router, until I unticked this option - once done, it was great, even on wireless.
I think it's ticked by default, so worth checking.
@unionjack3rd So glad I didn't buy one! To think I almost spend 70 euros on such a gimped piece of hardware.
Suspend & Resume has blown me away & not much does normally Don't want much really, say DLNA & make your own Folders & a PS4 Remote control(or you can use your Smart Phone as a remote would be cool)
@professorhat i'll give this a check out..I bought pstv at launch and been really disappointed with it..not something i'm used to with my sony products..but this one is half baked.
@AyeHaley I wish I hadn't too..bought mine for £80.00!!..now it's slashed in price and gonna go the way of the two ps move controllers I bought...and folk said megadrive/genesis and nintendo add ons were bad for being forgotten!
There is simply no excuse for the ps4 STILL NOT having the same functions as the ps3. Until it catches up with THAT then this subject discussion is futile imo
@unionjack3rd Definitely worth trying. I agree that as a gaming device, it leaves a lot to be desired. But for Remote Play, it's worth the current asking price I think (as long as you can get that working!) I also bought mine full price - I suppose when PS Now comes to it as well, this will also help. I'm beta testing this at the moment but haven't looked at getting it running on the PSTV yet.
Still, could really do with the Netflix app! If it had that, I'd be really happy with it.
@unionjack3rd it does work if you have fibre optic. I did remote play 50 miles from my house.
I still use my ps3 enough said! Update what should be there I'm tired of waiting.
Using a PS Vita as a legit screen while allowing you to use your ps4 controller.
There is a way to do this, but it involves tricks and another account.
@noodleking1987 hmm. I have 152meg at home but still didn't work. Kept glitching and freezing.
Could just about play last of us. But online shooters forget about it!
I'll have to break it out again. Hopefully others having it work means I can get it going too!!
Update to use ps3 on the ps4. Fix nat type
@unionjack3rd I can do it on 20Mbps and it plays smooth. Although I do think the vita runs it better than my pstv. So I just use that. But it's pretty amazing to connect it up when I go holiday.
@noodleking1987 perhaps your Internet is not stable? I must admit the stability updates to the consoles do bring it out smoother.
Same requests as always, folders, apps I don't use not suddenly appearing at the front of my games bar (ie the tv folder), the ability to delete items from my library and being able to customise my UI. Basic functionality really.
I'd like PS2 classics.
I like share play but I don't tend to use it much.
@ztpayne7 I've used it quite a lot. Without Fibre Optic it doesn't really work though. I have an upload of about 5mbs when tested on the PS4 so it works for me. So far, I've mostly used it to show other people games I have. They have all said that the quality there end is as good as if it were being played locally. I've SharePlayed...The Witcher, Trine 2, Diablo, Infamous and Flower.
@unionjack3rd if you do, please let me know! I bought my PS4 largely BECAUSE of Remote Play, but unfortunately it constantly freezes, glitches and crashes out. Any advice??
Let's see...
Better parental controls (ability to hide/lock & approve network access levels for individual games)
Ability to delete items from library (do I really need to see the demo for the game I ended up buying?)
Folders
Media support equal to PS3
Better support for Bluetooth devices (headphones, 3rd party remotes, mics, etc)
Support for PS3 era fightsticks and steering wheels.
Not necessarily firmware...
More space for Cloud Saves
And, finally,
A PS4 remote (or the ability to pair a PS3 remote to a PS4, could be a firmware fix)
Pink DS4 (only way I'm allowed to finally get a fourth controller)
I think first and foremost, if they could update it so that it wakes me up in the morning with some toast and a cup of tea (milk and two) that would be me happy really.
One of the best updates would be to change the username finally. But I think they are getting everything set in that direction. To delete 0% trophies was a good start, and the upgrade to a standard account. PSN is a disaster and needs more caring. I'm glad they are trying though.
