Rest assured: if the PlayStation Network's going to break, Sony will make damned sure that it happens on a Bank Holiday weekend. Don't worry, the service is definitely still online β but a not-so insignificant number of European premium members are reporting this weekend that their PlayStation Plus account on the PlayStation 4 has been locked out. This is a problem for all sorts of reasons β not least the fact that a subscription is mandatory if you want to play most multiplayer games.
At the time of typing, a thread on the PlayStation support forum contains over 50 pages of disgruntled consumers complaining about the very same issue. According to a report on The Sixth Axis, the problem may be connected to the current PlayStation Now beta, but that's certainly not confirmed at this stage. The platform holder, to its credit, has said that it's investigating the issue β but with the majority of the UK enjoying time off tomorrow, it's unclear how long it'll take to respond.
We'll attempt to reach out to the manufacturer now to see if we can find out any more information, but this might be one of those instances where the solution is to wait patiently until the issue is solved. Do feel free to drop us a comment if you're having this problem, though, and we'll forward all of the relevant information on to the organisation.

What? Is this only in europe? If it happens anywhere else like the States or Canada, do update this!
@Alpha I haven't heard anything about it happening outside of Europe just yet, so it seems like an isolated incident.
I'm just glad it's not affecting any disc based games as otherwise my ps4 has been rendered useless. Naturally, Sony's response has been poor and unfortunately that forum thread has started to unravel as people vent their frustration. C'mon Sony, do something good for the players!
@stevejcrow Sorry to hear that this has affected you. Can you tell me: are you part of the PlayStation Now beta? Are you being prevented from playing your regular games or just PS Plus ones? Did you attempt to restore licenses at any point?
I'm on the Beta, which was going excellent I have to say, really impressed. For past couple of days, PS+ icon has disappeared from profile.
Tried restoring licenses, only restores 1. One or two downloaded titles still work but the majority have stopped, as had Netflix and Now TV.
The consensus on the forum is to leave things as they are. The more you restore licenses, rebuild storage etc. the more access you lose!
Hope that answers your questions.
I'm part of playstation now beta(which is excellent)..no problems with my ps+, I'm in UK.
@stevejcrow Yeah, thanks for letting me know. Hmmm. Weird issue. Hopefully it's resolved soon.
@get2sammyb i am having this problem. Says i have ps plus but wont let me play online with friends, tried to co op far cry and its says i have to join ps plus
Part of the PS Now Beta myself (not used it once since a quick check at the dreadful choice of titles). I've turned the PS4 on twice today and each time it's told me I couldn't connect to the internet. A quick check in the Network part of Settings and testing the connection sorted the problem. Just had another go as I wrote this and same thing. My PS+ logo was gone until the internet came back on and the logo returned. If anyone is having problems maybe just try that as it's helped me.
Oh crap. I'd better check my account...
EDIT: Nevermind. I'm not affected.
Was one of the first to report this in, been going on since 30th April early GMT for me.
Problems:
PS+ Not being recognized, can't get online to play despite having an active subscription.
ALL digital content locked out, booted up MKX on PS4 and all the DLC was not present despite it being installed (Goro, Costumes etc). All digital games giving the message that we need to purchase them on the store.
PS Store completely broken giving error E-82000113 when trying to download or purchase anything.
The website version of the store tells us 'we are not eligible to buy or download this content.'
Tested solutions:
Deleting PSNow.
Restoring Licenses
Signing out and in.
Ringing customer support (lol) they said with 4/5 customers that it's the first time they've had this problem called in.
Deactivating and re-activating the PS4 as primary PS4.
Booting into safe mode and restoring database.
Notes:
PS Vita and PS3 unaffected.
That's bizarre. I hope my friends in the UK get this sorted out quickly. Ps now is a great thing though, I would have kept my sub if every psnow game was available with it. The second I saw me2 got added I leapt for joy, then went to play it and found some games are not included. Here's hoping for a me trilogy on ps4 and me4 soon.
Nice to see all the bigger sony/playstation fan sites and news sites reporting in on this now.
What annoys me the most is (even though the support team are aware) that Sony PlayStation haven't made one official comment or announcement or acknowledgement of said problem.
I've been having this issue for days, I bought hand of fate then it didn't download. I rang Sony and they didn't have a clue.
They told me what to do like Tekken179 but nothing has worked, the last thing to try is told reset but jeez that's going to take awhile to sort out.
I might ring Sony again to see what's happening.
Tried restoring licenses and this made my ps plus symbol totally vanish
Now i am locked out of all of my digital games. And they wonder why people prefer physical!
@Mrskinner I've been able to play Broken Age fine but took a while to let me, but I can't get on things like Now TV as I need to download / use the net for it
Just checked on ps3, says store is under maintenance(was like that late last night), haven't checked ps4 yet this morning
I've heard that restoring licences causes the issue too.
@Tekken179 They have made a comment on it, basically saying that it's been escalated to their engineers. But yes, I agree, they need to do better at providing people with more information when things like this happen.
@adf86 it makes it worse, actually removed the ps plus logo from next to my name.
@get2sammyb
Seems like this is some kind of standard for major corporations when a major issue hits--slow communication.
But to be fair, it would be irresponsible for any company to go rushing out with some kind of "hey, stuff's broken" announcement before they have all the facts on it. I think, at most, an response that they're aware of issues and looking into it should suffice. This won't make everyone happy, but not everyone understands reality or that it takes time to fix wide-reaching issues.
@get2sammyb what really annoys me is sony have locked certain games multiplayer options behind a paywall, because of this i am paying for something i cant use. They should be straight onto things like this to make sure paid for services are working and fixed quickly
I've also had the same problem, I'm a UK Plus subscriber with access to the Now beta. Since around Saturday morning I've lost access to the Now games (all the games I've accessed have disappeared) and now I can't access any digital content including the TV, video services. The Plus logo has disappeared from by my login name. Annoying.
Called customer services this morning they were no help and just said it would be escalated but could take days or weeks to solve!
In the PS Now beta in the UK and this happened to me Saturday afternoon.
On a side note, PS Now is genuinely impressive...when it doesn't corrupt your PSN account that is.
I deleted ps now a week ago as slow Internet and until today my ps4 was fine now can't download games in my library or redownload from store and all games are padlocked it's so annoying
@stevejcrow I did the same, restored licenses and had to wait for everything to unlock and had to redownload netflix, absolute joke. It was playstation who told me to restore licences which I then said has locked me out, he said he knew it would do that and it wasn't a fix...so why tell me!?
@Simonsheppard75 hi mate, they said to restore licences but that might lock you out of stuff and has made me redownload netflix
@pyrodag hi, yeah I did try that and now everything is locked and I can't even re download stuff!
@get2sammyb im having this problem im in the uk and a ps now beta tester
Id just lovrle an update or eta or official announcement of sony at this point
And i want my ps+ credited with the days ive lost
@Simonsheppard75 same its crap this and sony still playing down the situation
I spoke to Sony yesterday after having the same issue as people have been reporting. They confirmed it is people who are involved in the PS Now Beta and they are looking into a fix.
I can't access any online services but for some reason I can still access any already downloaded PS Plus games from my library launch them with no issues?? Weird but lucky!!
Any news on this - just got a PS Now beta code sent through, but obviously not going to redeem it till this is fixed!
