Project CARS PS4 PlayStation 4 Review Round Up

This is it, then: simulation racing finally arrives on the PlayStation 4. With the Gran Turismo series not yet ready for the new-gen showroom, Project CARS is aiming to take its place – at least for the foreseeable future, anyway. Slightly Mad Studios' pretty release has had an interesting route to market, starting out as a crowd-funded endeavour... Before turning into a hot Bandai Namco published property. That community focus has remained consistent throughout production, though, leaving one lingering question: is this really the racing game for racing fans? Our review's on the way, but while you wait, here are some impressions from around the web.

Game Reactor - 9/10

The bottom line is that Project CARS manages to refresh the racing simulation genre, and in doing so sets a new level that future entries into this genre need to, at the very least, match in order to compete with the competition. And even then, we suspect that Slightly Mad Studios will have refined this title further in the form of future DLC and patches.

Game Informer - 8.5/10

In a genre where it can be hard to differentiate yourself, Project Cars makes its mark. It's not as strong as it could be in all areas, but Slightly Mad Studios' attention to detail and racing chops make the game a contender.

Games Radar - 3.5/5

Whereas Gran Turismo 6 managed to fool my brain for a few seconds into thinking I was looking at reality, this has entire minutes of perfection where I simply can't believe my eyes. If only it were a little more polished and consistently awesome, it would be a classic.

Shack News - 6/10

Project Cars will most likely frustrate mainstream racing fans with its real-world driving mechanics, but may entertain realistic driving simulator fans who know their way through similar games. One thing is for sure: Slightly Mad has created one beautiful racing sim that highlights the look and feel of high performance vehicles.

Eurogamer.net - N/A

The earnest, hard-fought drama of its real-world track action is enough to earn Project Cars a recommendation for any fan of a good, old-fashioned motor race.
