Sony, by and large, is starting to turn around its fortunes under the leadership of former PlayStation president Kaz Hirai. While it's still got some way to go, it's a much leaner organisation these days – and it's getting closer and closer to turning a profit. The firm's gaming business was highlighted by the board as a key corporate pillar a few years ago, and that decision is now paying real dividends with the PlayStation 4.
However, speaking as part of an investor day, the manufacturer has acknowledged that first-party titles will be pivotal to its success moving forwards. As part of a presentation, the company highlighted the production and release of more exclusive titles as a means of increasing the average revenue per paying user. While this sounds nefarious, it essentially just wants to sell you more games and content.
While the likes of Bloodborne, The Order: 1886, and MLB 15 The Show contributed to a pretty impressive start to the year for Sony, there is some concern that without Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, the organisation's lineup is going to look weak this holiday. However, even if this commitment isn't exactly confirmation of new games, it shows that the Japanese giant at least understands that exclusives are important.
We guess that it's now down to Shuhei Yoshida and his team to ensure that they get made.

I am taking this with a grain of salt, as I took the exec saying that Sony's E3 this year will be the best ever. Willing to share my salt with @Gamer83
Yep. With first-party AND thrid-party (mostly Japanese) exclusives I had plenty of reason to choose PS4 over Xbox One.
I'm sure there will be the 'first party games don't matter' nonsense that always gets posted. But I'm glad to see Sony at least acknowledge first party games are important. Now instead of just talking, how about actually showing something? And I'm not talking about Vita ports, 'remasters' and garbage interactive teen slasher flicks like Until Dawn. At least one big game at E3 would be nice. Bend has been quiet forever now. The God of War 3 Remaster is going to be shown off, so something about Bend's next game or GoW 4 would be nice.

I say it's best to take anything any exec says with a grain of salt. Sony, Nintendo, MS, they're all full of it.
Well yeah, if they want all PS4 owners to be happy with their console in the long run, it would be kind of a good strategy to get some exclusives involved.
The question is will they keep the ball rolling or give it the ol' "Sony try" and half-ass the rest of the year.
@BertoFlyingFox
The rest of this year will be half-a$$sed, I think that's almost certain. Hopefully from 2016 forward, things are better. I did buy PS4 in part because of the great work Sony's studios did last gen and most would acknowledge it was Sony's first party output that helped turn PS3's fortunes around. For anybody to be acting like the current situation is not pathetic is ridiculous, fanboy bs.
