We're not quite sure why it's taken Team 17 so long to bring its roster of intriguing indie titles to the PlayStation 4, but with the somewhat disappointing LA Cops now out of the way, it's the turn of The Escapists to break free from the shackles of other systems – and find sanctuary on Sony's new-gen machine.
For those out of the loop, the incarceration escaping escapade sees you quietly plotting to make a break from six different penitentiaries. To do this you'll need to perform favours for fellow in-mates – or even get a prison job. The game's due out from 29th May in Europe and 2nd June in North America, where it'll cost £14.99/$19.99. There'll also be some Alcatraz-themed DLC available from day one for £1.99/$2.99.
Sadly, while it seems like this would be a good handheld fit, a PlayStation Vita version seems unlikely right now. "We don't have any plans to bring The Escapists to the Vita I'm afraid," community manager Michael Shillingford explained on the PlayStation Blog. Hopefully the organisation changes its mind.

The Escapists is great on the PC, but I do agree that it's a perfect fit for a handheld. It's a shame that because there's not much money to be made on the Vita anymore that games like this are going to skip it. As long as Japan doesn't forget about it.
Looks like a game I used to play on my ZX spectrum 48k.
I'd prefer this on my Vita too. On my PS4? Not so much. Sorry T17.
@AcesHigh73 exactly. If you're not interested in the Vita, I'm not interested in giving you my money.
