Many dreams have come true at E3 2015 – but a good Tony Hawk title is a fantasy too far. The first screenshots of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 looked rough, but the debut gameplay footage is even worse. We're not just talking about the graphics either: the level design and physics also look bad.
To be fair, the game's still in development, and could yet turn out good – but we won't be holding our breath. If the project does ultimately fail, though, it won't be the fault of the Birdman; just listening to the skating legend narrate this awful footage, you can tell that he really cares. Maybe one day this brand will get back to its best.

Here is the backwards compatibility. This is clearly a PS2 game...
Geeze, the Tony Hawk games used to be some of my favorites. It really makes me feel bad listening to Tony speak so passionately about it. It's clear that he is really passionate about the series. But after the evolution of skating games brought about by the Skate games I can't see this doing well. Hopefully they improve it and bring back the Pro Skater goodness.
I don't see what the problem is,Looks like a Tony Hawk game to me ¯(ツ)/¯
@get2sammyb Please watch the language -Tasuki- ;p
@Tasuki He's right though haha
If this is made by Robo Modo, which team is full of the guys who made the awful Def Jam games which was shut down, along with Tony Hawk Grind, which was also horrible, there's no chance of this being good
@Splat Totally, That's fricken hilarious!
Makes me think that it's about time that EA reveal a new Skate game.
Welp as long as the fan want and like it, its fine in my eyes.
@ApostateMage
Even if they did I wouldn't hold out much hope of it being good. They crapped on the ssx franchise with the ps3 version of the game (wholly ignoring the early feedback from fans and ditching the concepts that made the originals so popular).
When I first saw the new game I thought it looked pretty good,this though, yeah, crappy.
Looks like the xbox one version to me.
If it turns out to be a Vita/PS3/PS4 budget game - like the Assassins Creed Chronicles for example, I wouldn't be surprised but even then it doesn't look great...
I'm almost speechless. Is that for real? Think they booted up the PS1 game by mistake!
I love the fact the developer says about "utilising the new technology" lol.
Doesn't look great does it? But if it plays like the original games I'd pick it up for a tenner at some point.
I love Tony Hawk and I used to love the old games. For some reason I feel sorry for him that the game looks so...average.
It's currently priced on £50 on the Game website, seems a bit steep considering what it looks like.
Ouch that looks poor. Really enjoyed the old games too
@Tasuki XD
I'll take THPS3 on the PS1 any day thank you very much!
Ahh, but as I hear on here all the time..it's not about graphics, resolution, or frame rate, it's all about the gameplay!
It looks like a PS2 THPS running on an emulator, with a pointless vignetting effect.
It's not just the graphics, the gameplay seems unchanged and the level design and layout is so basic that it doesn't seem to bring anything new. It might as well be a level pack for one of the older games. I guess some people will be okay with that, but as much as I loved the original games, I'd forgotten most of the levels and layouts years ago so could just return to those with the same effect.
If each announce a new skate before a new fight night I'm done
I hope the game looks better near release, I was looking froward to this game.
It doesn't look good at all does it! :/
@Fenriswolf- Its not just the graphics that look poor though, the gameplay looks terrible too. Cant see any difference from the old games
I still play thps3 and 4 and American wasteland on ps2, so even if it does have crappy graphics but it plays like the old games (not them last 2 on ps3) then I will be buying it.
I'm hoping it's a psn title for about £15 or so but either way I will be happy once it plays like the old games.
With so many other great games, this will have to pass unless it improves from now till launch . Really loved the old THPS games but can't get excited at all about this one... Perhaps it was just a phase back in the day ?
@Mrskinner Yea, I'm with ya, I'm just bein a wisenheimer haha. As much as I loved the old-school TH games, there's no way I'd buy what they displayed! But I also feel that graphics are just as important as gameplay. Immersion is key, and graphics, physics etc are what provide immersion, so I'm probably a little biased. But hopefully they will get it together and have a good product by release. This is obviously an early-build, there will(hopefully)be a lot of transformation by the time it's ready...at least I HOPE, because I was excited about the announcement and I have been wondering if they would ever make another.
Don't like it. Skateboard behaves the same no matter what surface he is on. And you figure current tech allows them to add bystanders or some kind of living things in the background.
Terrible level designs. Will still to the original 3 thanks.
I'd love for a THUG 3 then again, if they can thing PS 4 and seemed got this one, I'd rather they just leave it.
What are you ppl expecting from a skating game? Geez some of you def need to stop with the graphics this and that. Its a skating game not an rpg sheesh, i think alot of you are responsible for games being so sub par lately. Please tell me you guys aren't buying games to look at them for how realistic they look, otherwise go outside and skate!
-nvm forget this post!
