FIFA 16 may be keeping the ball rolling on last-gen consoles, but it'll be taking a season off as far as handhelds are concerned. The upcoming sports simulator won't be appearing on the PlayStation Vita this year, although we're not entirely sure what difference that'll actually make.
Indeed, each portable iteration of the mega franchise has been as disappointing as the last in recent years, settling for the bare minimum when it comes to fresh gameplay features. Still, it's a shame that enthusiasts of Sony's sleek little device won't be able to take Accrington Stanley to the Champions League during their daily commute.

So, in short: there won't be another FIFA game on the Vita.
Well seems strange. According to the eu official playstation blog Vita charts the game is a high seller. I guess it is better to let it go instead of releasing the "Legacy Edition".
Seems that we won't even see another Football game on the Vita after Fifa is gone. Pro has zero probability to arrive on the handheld and I don't think anybody else makes football games. Football Manager seems gone from the Vita too. Another strange think is that there isn't any basketball game on the Vita too.
Actually, I can guarantee that FIFA are only skipping the vita because of the new female clubs being included. Meaning they won't be able to recycle the first Vita Fifa game anymore and rebrand it with a new year. Now they are actually going to have to put some effort into it.
The writing is now on the wall
Legacy. System.
Bit of a blow but most of the Vita fan base is content with indie and Japanese games.
The Vita version of Fifa is actually a great game and the only game that ever really gave some worth to the back touchpad... however I still play the original, all the others have been just roster updates and I don't care about those
I guess slapping a 16 on Fifa 15 won't cut it anymore. Not even for EA.
I was looking forward to playing FIFA 11....erm, I mean FIFA 16 on Vita
@DualWielding I got the original Vita FIFA when I bought the console (I think it was called FIFA Football? Is that right?). Really quite enjoyed it, just a shame that EA didn't keep pace with each new release.
