It's safe to say that May was a pretty dire month for new releases, so much so that we actually struggled to gather a group of worthy Game of the Month nominees – but we did get there in the end. To be frank, we're not even sure why we're bothering with this introduction, as it's highly probable that you already know which title has claimed victory as last month's best release. Go on, say it. Embrace it. Give your PlayStation 4 a little wink, and join us in celebration.
Bronze Trophy: Nom Nom Galaxy
A weird and wonderful little download, Nom Nom Galaxy managed to capture the attention of reviewer Alex Stinton. A surprising sandbox experience, Alex concluded that despite some flaws, it's a title that'll "keep you coming back for more servings". The colourful and often zany creation gobbled down a score of 8/10, and, to no one's surprise, formed the basis of many a food related pun. Delicious.
Silver Trophy: Project CARS
Once again strapping his virtual racing helmet firmly to his non-virtual head, editor Sammy Barker took to the tracks of yet another racing title last month. Perhaps the most impressive in quite some time, Project CARS is a game that has the hardcore petrol heads firmly in its sights, as indicated by our 7/10 review, which concludes: "Once you get the controls where you want them, your car exactly how you like it, and your race day tactics tightened up, it delivers an exhilarating ride."
Gold Trophy: Wolfenstein: The Old Blood
A title which took us by surprise when it was initially announced, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is a standalone prequel to 2014's Wolfenstein: The New Order. The downloadable release offers another smashing single player romp, and scored a respectable 7/10. Reviewer Graham Banas wrote that "with an enormous amount of content available for such a slender sum, fans of The New Order shouldn't hesitate when it comes to this alternate history treat".
Platinum Trophy: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Woah! Who saw that one coming? As if our positively glowing 10/10 review wasn't enough of a hint, we really, really like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Geralt's grim adventure is glorious from start to finish, and, as we wrote in the aforementioned review, it sets the new standard for open world role-playing games. Summing our thoughts up rather nicely, we concluded our judgement by stating that "in an industry that's flooded with so many by-the-book open world titles, Wild Hunt stands out as a true labour of love from a developer that's uncompromisingly passionate about its creative freedom [...] Geralt's incredible adventure is nothing short of a masterpiece". A worthy Game of the Month winner, wouldn't you say?

Unsurprising to see the Witcher 3 at the top. Its likely to be a Game of the Year and probably will be for many. I did enjoy Wolfenstein too. I know its quite short and a bit disjointed with its 'story' but it is 2 DLC's combined into 1 standalone game. It doesn't have the character development of the New Order but it does have the same 'action' and feel.
Wolfenstein for me. Loved that game.
Can I vote for Witcher 3 every month?
The Witcher 3, no contest whatsoever.
Yep def wwitcher3 for me
The Witcher 3 makes me feel bad for you reviewers. You have to hustle to finish the game in order to post a timely review. I get to luxuriate in its world (spend most of my time doing side objectives - not just the auxiliary quests, but checking out the "?"s dotting the map & blank areas to see what's there). I'll be playing for a long time to come & enjoying every minute of it!!!
Just got Project Cars (love it) and Witcher 3 yesterday. I'll try the Witcher tonight
Aye witcher, surprised to see wolfenstein, its more or less just dlc and just more of the same is it not?
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi Old Blood is standalone, so we basically categorised it as a budget title, or a downloadable game. If it was a remaster, for example, or wasn't standalone, it wouldn't have been in the running.
My GOTM was Race The Sun actually. That and some Spotify of Machinedrum is one of the greatest combos ever!
