Batman: Arkham Knight may be mere days away from release, but retailers are currently in the process of cancelling orders for the uber-expensive Batman: Arkham Knight Batmobile Edition. We've heard from one reader that his GAME order has been dumped, and both Eurogamer.net and NeoGAF seem able to corroborate the story.
The exorbitant bundle was available for £169.99, but it sounds like something went wrong with the included car. "Regrettably, due to unforeseen circumstances that greatly compromised the quality of the Batmobile included within the Batman: Arkham Knight Batmobile Edition, Warner Bros has decided not to release this product," GAME informed customers.
The specialist retailer is, of course, offering a full refund, alongside a £20 discount on the Batman: Arkham Knight Red Hood Edition, which includes a couple of pieces of bonus content. However, super-fans will miss out on more than just a replica of the Dark Knight's ride; the Batmobile Edition was also set to come with an art book, steel case, and various other pieces of tat.
We suppose that it's a good thing that the publisher has opted against delivering a poor product – but a bit more notice would probably have been nice, no?

Did the lorry get stolen?
And this is why preordering is a joke.
@rjejr Haha! No, not this time.
Just glad I opted for the cheaper Batman Statue edition that also comes with the Steelbook, Artbook and comic from Amazon... 5 days and counting...
Lol WB, first Dying Light delay and now this.
I was planning on waiting for the GOTY edition anyways.
@Splat Same here, though I'll be waiting even longer for the PS4 GOTY Edition to be $30 New or cheaper.
Wow! Just wow.
Why preorder, there will almost for sure be an 20 GB day one patch before you can fire this puppy up
I pre-ordered it
It was a late birthday present from my parents.
Damn I hate WB for al there doings, in my opinion they are worse than EA.
So these people criticising WB, would you rather they sold a sub-standard Batmobile that in no-way justifies the price and leads to immense criticism, potential lawsuits as the product doesn't meet the standard or description etc? Lets be honest, that Batmobile is over £100 on its own as the game and other contents are unlikely to make up more than £60 - I am paying £80 for the Statue version which has all the same content.
I know its disappointing and a very late announcement but if it didn't pass their quality control for whatever reason, I would rather they cancelled it. I am sure their lawyers would too...
@BAMozzy Agreed, it would have been immoral to go ahead and release a sub standard product. I would be interested to know why this has failed QC though.
@Mrskinner It could be anything - even something like not matching exactly the description of being fully transformable or 'exquisite detail'. If it doesn't match what they described, that is sufficient reason alone. £170 is a lot of money and as I explained, the vehicle is probably over £100 of that. If people who bought it, felt it didn't match the description, value etc, WB would have a LOT more hate, potential lawsuits etc than pulling it. I doubt it was a decision taken lightly either...
Maybe it even had potentially hazardous parts, not quality materials that break easily when trying to transform - any number of reasons....
What happens to all the copies already sold on eBay for a massive profit? Will they get a refund or are they stuck with a £300 standard copy of the game because all the listings I saw stated you were buying the preorder as opposed to the actual product.
So glad I didn't bother with it
This is really frustrating for me because I had it preordered and now I can't even get the cheaper limited version because they are sold out. So because I went above and beyond to get the most expensive option, I now end up with nothing beyond the base game and a ridiculously over-priced season pass(if I choose to purchase that).
Here's a link for anyone interested on how the Limited Edition statue looks. I doubt that the actual size that comes with the game since it states there that it weighs 20lbs.

The Limited Edition got delayed in the UK too.
@Splat Same here but only because I wanted the Season Pass contents but didn't want to pay $40 for it. However, right now I'm thinking of just buying the game and skipping the Season Pass. lol
