If you've logged into your PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, or Vita, you may have noticed that the PlayStation Network isn't its usual self. No, she's not having an internal meltdown, she's just undergoing some maintenance.
Usually we find out ahead of time if there's to be some disruption to the network due to Sony's engineers giving the PSN a prod and a poke, but it seems this latest check-up has come out of the blue. Strangely enough, today is also the day that DriveClub got a new update – coincidence?
The official PSN status page doesn't mention any problems, so maybe it's not expected to last too long. Fear not, though, we're here to keep you updated and we will when more information becomes available.
Update (13:45PM BST): Sony Europe employee Chris Owen has said that the company's investigating the current issue: "We're aware that there are currently issues with PSN; we're investigating the issue. We'll keep you updated regularly with any progress."
Update (14:00PM BST): We're able to connect to the PSN here at Push Square Towers, so it looks like service is slowly being restored. We'll keep you updated regarding any potential setbacks.

Can't even log on...
PSN is down for some people but not others. The PS4 says PSN is undergoing maintenance but that's just the default line if there are problems. Sony rep below just stated there are problems and they're being looked into.

@LieutenantFatman Thanks for the heads up, I've added that into the article.
Back up for me.
@get2sammyb No problem. Seems to be back up for me as well. Annoying it went down as I was in the middle of some co-op Diablo, but at least they fixed it quickly.
Sony should extend plus or a few days for everyone that has occasionally to make up for things like this. It didn't affect me this time, but they need to to better with this.
Was playing some Borderlands co op, now my entire afternoon is wasted. Took some time of to play with my brother, but haven't been able to reconnect and stay online for more than 5 minutes. My DriveClub patch has been downloaded and installed though, so I'm not sure that's the cause.
Sony is driving me in the loving arms of the game-PC competition more and more. Choosing between PC and console was so easy in the past, but now consoles are more like bad PCs I'm finding it increasingly difficult for myself not to buy a game-PC. PCs are slowly moving more towards the console territory, but at least there I have the possibility to upgrade if I want the Witcher to run on a stable framerate for instance.
The lack of good games and the technical issues with the ones we did get makes me wonder what the future is gonna look like for the PS4 and One. It seems only remasters tend to run smoothly, but in the case of the Borderlands it took em 10 gb worth of patches. I dunno, maybe it's the age of something, but I'm getting more and more frustrated by my consoles. I don't have a lot of time to game, but when I do I want it to work properly. I don't mind paying a premium for good services, but when they keep on failing me I might as well think about paying extra for decent hardware. At this point the only thing that keeps me from selling my PS4 is the promise of Morpheus, and I'm pretty sure that's just a Sony fanboy who is holding on to a dream that the future of Playstation will hold what made it so special in the past.
@Boerewors Please watch the language -Tasuki-
I couldn't go online for the past couple of days. PlayStation is a waste of money,im switching to the Xbox 1.
