Push Rewind

While it definitely still feels like the video game industry is in hibernation ahead of E3 2015 later in the month, this was a pretty big week for two reasons: Fallout 4 and Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection. Neither needed the paranormal insight of Mystic Meg to predict, but we didn't really expect either to be announced so soon. And yet here they are – real and ready to be fully revealed in Los Angeles.

Ultra Street Fighter IV - 6/10

Ultra Street Fighter IV is hardly the disaster that some people are reporting, and remains an enjoyable port of one of the best fighting games ever made. The key problem here is that we were promised – and were justified to expect – so much more than this. With the power of the PS4 on tap and all of the groundwork already in place, Other Ocean should really have created the best version of the game yet seen, free from irksome glitches, laggy online matches, and bothersome performance problems. Capcom's decision to drop the game from competitive play states categorically that this hasn't happened; while this is hardly a totally broken offering, it is comfortably overshadowed by the last-gen Xbox 360 edition and that should leave everyone involved at Sony with faces so red they could be mistaken for a baboon's behind. If you already own Ultra Street Fighter IV for a last-gen system, there's no need whatsoever to purchase this questionable port – PS4 newcomers, however, may be a little more forgiving of its myriad faults.

Destiny: House of Wolves - 6/10

As expected, House of Wolves sticks with the pack when it comes to story missions, strikes, and new multiplayer maps, but it still represents a point in Destiny's life where Bungie has tried to push things forward, attempting to leave behind the mistakes of the past in the process. Both Prison of Elders and Trials of Osiris are welcome additions to the formula, and are the real reasons to invest in the DLC – even if the asking price remains a little too steep and the title's core problems persist.

Retrospective: Returning to the Wastelands of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas

The Fallout franchise has been hanging around like an irradiated ghoul since 1997, but it was Bethesda Game Studios and the memorable Fallout 3 that cemented the series as a mainstream property. Releasing in 2008 on the PlayStation 3, Fallout 3 was essentially a fusion of Bethesda's open world expertise that it had showcased with titles like The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and the Fallout franchise's grim, post-apocalyptic setting. Laced with some dark comedy and a heavy atmosphere, Fallout 3 has captured the minds of many a player, as they journey through the desolate Capital Wasteland.

Skylanders: SuperChargers Takes a Sharp Turn onto PS4, PS3 This September

Fallout 4 may be today's big game announcement, but that hasn't stopped Activision from debuting its own considerably more family orientated title as well. Skylanders: SuperChargers is the newest game in the long-running toys-to-life franchise, and it will feature all manner of motoring mayhem

Rumour: Dark Souls III PS4 Screenshots Summoned Ahead of E3 2015

To report on the rumour or not to report on the rumour – that is the question. Screenshots of Dark Souls III, a game which we first heard about earlier in the week, have apparently leaked – but they've stemmed from the same source as that god-awful Silent Hills report a few weeks back. This time, though, Rooster Teeth have got screenshots and myriad gameplay details, so we'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now.
