The glitz and glamour of E3 2015 may be over, but there's still plenty to look forward to on Planet PlayStation. Tuesday sees the return of the PlayStation Store update in full-force, and there'll be a tasty surprise for North American players, in the form of Shantae: Risky's Revenge on the PlayStation 4. This is the sequel to the Game Boy Color classic, which launched five or so years ago on the Nintendo DSi.
We actually had no idea that this was being ported to Sony's flagship format, so it really is an unexpected treat. This is the Director's Cut version of the game, and includes tons of new features and modes, as well as spruced up graphics. Given that this is a series that's never been on PlayStation before, it should get you in the mood for forthcoming sequel Half-Genie Hero, which was crowdfunded and is due out later this year.

Any word on price, if so, anything about PS Plus price?
@Sonicfan11589 Nothing yet, man.
oh ok thanks. I remember the DSi version costed $12-13 so if i had to guess, $20 max.
Half-Genie Hero releases this year?!
Ok, let's review this:
An perfect game for Vita and it will be launch on the PS4...
Ok...
@Sonicfan11589 It was due out in October 2014, I believe - so you'd think so, no?!
I'm playing through it right now, saw it on the Steam Sumer Sale for 2.50$ so I had to give it a try, its a really great game, love the whole metroidvania plataforming aspect of it and the dialogue its hilarious at times.
It's also heading to Wii U, not sure about Xbox One...
Hmm I still need to get this game, might as well get it on the PS4 now.
I've heard about these games and they do raise my interest. I'll have to check it out at some point.
It's a Wayforward game. Of course it's good.
Wow, that game out of nowhere, Shantae games should branch out to more consoles. Good series.
Risky's Revenge? That's an odd one to choose to port. This is the DSi sequel. I bought it on my 3DS a few years ago. But they just released a new one on 3DS called Shantae and the Pirates Curse. Now THAT was a good game. They should've ported that one.
Oh well. They're all good games and I would still recommend this to anyone who hasn't tried the series before. Just bear in mind this one still looks a little retro.
Seeing as Risky's Revenge debuted on DS – a handheld – if this Director's Cut is coming to Playstation, it really should be on Vita. A handheld!
Heck, even the very first game in the series, Shantae, launched on the Gameboy Color!
Hmm I smell PSPlus material here, so I'm wondering if I should grab it or wait on it after it comes out ?
