The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is getting two more pieces of free downloadable content this week, although they don't appear to be all that exciting. First up is the Nilfgaardian Armour Set, which seems to include two sets of armour - one for Geralt, and one for his ever-trusty steed, Roach. Much like the orderly empire itself, both sets look suitably dark in colour, and appear rather refined.
The second slice of DLC is the Elite Crossbow Set, which we would assume gives you access to a few decent crossbows. If the previous free dlc packs are anything to go by, though, all of these items are probably of little use if you're already quite a ways through Geralt's open world adventure.

Still, great that they are doing it. Looking forward to the season pass DLC. Haven't put the game down since I bought it.
I just got my Superior Griffin Witcher Gear so unless this new Armour is bad ass I won't be using it haha.
I rarely use crossbow's to be honest.
I hope one of the DLC sets is the school of wolf witcher gear and its upgraded versions seems abit off that Gerald is from that school and the only gear you get is the starting shirt. Loving this game though gonna still be busy with it when Arkham knight drops through the letterbox!
Well last weeks DLC hasn't really been of use yet to me. I believe the 'Miner' quest is Level 29 and after 106hrs I am not that high yet, I don't know how to change Yennefer's look although it seems its defaulted to the DLC version.
My main issue is how these are implemented. With the first offering, you had to go to a specific Merchant and buy the Armour or visit a Barber to pay to have your hair/beard restyled. Personally I think they should have either gifted them into your inventory OR put a 'notice' on the various noticeboards around the world to say something like they are a 'gift from Kaer Morhen and have been sent to a specific place where you can pick them up'. To just introduce them to a merchants inventory, whilst not breaking the illusion of the game world, also means they are overlooked as DLC and easily missed too. It also means you have to have the 'coin' to get them. Its disappointing that these Armour sets are likely to be of little use, either because you are above the level or not high enough. Even if you do reach the requisite level the chances are the Treasure Hunt sets are likely to be more beneficial.
I am currently equipped with a full enhanced Feline set and have completed all the hunts for the Superior and mastercrafted versions too - no point upgrading yet, just finishing off the final Griffin hunts but as these are a lower level to the Feline set, I haven't crafted many pieces and need a few more of the Ursine set.
I rarely use a Crossbow either as I find Bombs and Signs much more effective.
@BAMozzy I wouldn't trust the in game timer as it's been known to be incorrect, tells me I've played for 125 hours but it's more like 50 or 60. I'm level 21.
To change Yen outfit, on the initial options menu, go to DLC and you can change the setting in there.
I do agree that the DLC hasn't been implemented that well and it's very easily missed. I do wonder whether it will all be level static armour DLC that may render it useless for certain people.
Fortunately for me, the game is so damn good without DLC that it doesn't bother me Happy monster slaying.
Well, more stuff to collect never hurts.
@BAMozzy in my opinion, simply adding what a shopkeeper has in stock is more realistic and reasonable than just magically acquiring it.
@BAMozzy yeah I'm not too keen on how the dlc is implemented either either, I mean if I have to Google where it is that's not very clever. Also by the time I could even afford the armour I already had better and I guess this may not be that high a level too and the treasure hunts are more fun anyway. A dlc house would be nice to store our stuff, a bit like skyrim so we can display armour and books and maybe even have our choice of love interest live there
A DLC loot box would be awesome...
@B3ND3R It's certainly more realistic, but just not that accessible to those who don't want to google how to get it. I've heard people suggest that you get a delivery from Kaer Morhen that you pick up from someone.
The armor sets are pretty rubbish in Witcher, Swords don't do too well either.
@milero91 I am not on about the in-game timer, I am referring to the time recorded on my XB1 as well as that given on TrueAchievements so I guess its fairly accurate.
@Bender I would rather have some note from the Witcher General at Kaer Morhen on a Noticeboard saying they had 'gifted' me it for whatever befitting reason and that, should I want it, I can pick it up from a certain point. - how is that a unrealistic or unreasonable to expect - I think that is a far better way of doing it and also in keeping with the game. It doesn't magically appear in you inventory but it isn't hidden away somewhere either.
Its no different from how the 'Missing Miners' quest is found and it actually makes it easier to locate and feels more like a 'gift' and/or DLC rather than something that could have been in the game prior to launch.
@carlos82 As much as I would like a 'house' to keep my growing collection of Trophies, materils, armour sets etc, It's not very in keeping with the Witchers Nomadic lifestyle
@BAMozzy Wish I had one of those things so I knew how long I'd be playing for.
Totally agree with you about how it could be gifted.
Also agree that a Witcher having a house/storage doesn't fit into the lore that well.
Great game, not stopped playing it since I got it I wanna get it rinsed before ESO next week and I am sure no positive I will play the game again in the future, free DLC tyvm if I dont use it now because i'm over levelled then i'll use it next playthrough.
@milero91 TrueTrophies is the PS equivalent to TrueAchievements and I am sure it will say what 'game time' you have clocked up. It would be nice to have a PS4 version of the B1's game hub which has a leaderboard for various in-game stats and hours played - according to my stats I now have 112hrs played and 2,648 kills...
@BAMozzy Unfortunately it doesn't seem to tell me hours clocked, must be something the Xbox records but the PS4 doesn't...shame.
I have just checked my TrueTrophies and it doesn't seem to track time played either so maybe like you say its an Xbox thing - It is a shame and I hope that Sony do add it at some point...
Go to the inventory and press the button that indicates PLAYER STATS...
I already have +150 hours and haver't gone to the islands...
@BAMozzy Witchers still have a base of operation when they arent going out on a path. Kaer Morhen is the wolf schools base, so there should be chests there for him to store things. Vesemir still lives there.
Inventory management is my biggest problem with this game, not the weight limit mind you, just dealing with all the reagents and materials. Feels like I'm playing an MMO.
Kaer Morhen is the Wolf School - where Witchers are trained etc. They may return there once in a while but they don't set up a home and base there. It would be like getting an Oxford or Cambridge degree and setting up home in one of the dorms after qualification.
My biggest issue with the inventory is the way items are organised. Its great that the Oils are at the top of the usable items but the potions and bombs are way down (if you keep all the letters and some books/diaries etc) and then the food is last. The more items you have the longer it takes to switch between tabs and scroll down to the bits you want. In the Alchemy/Crafting set, It can be difficult to see where things are - particularly if you have more than 100 as these can be in different places. Weight is getting to be a bit of an issue - even though I have the ability to carry an extra 100 with the saddlebags I have equipped. I don't really want to get rid of my trophies but they weigh over 1 each and not that valuable to sell - I have around 15 of these. I have both the Cat (light) and Griffin (medium) set and don't want to sell/dismantle as I am at the Superior level. I can't craft the Bear (heavy) set as I would be overweight. I have no other Armour/weapons apart from these though and can't sell/dismantle the various crossbow bolts either. With everything sold - only keeping things I will use, I have around 20 units but some armour weighs 15+ units. I would rather sell/dismantle than drop. It means I am constantly visiting characters to offload things. I don't keep more than 25 of any ingredients (apart from Alcohest) and even sell all the 'lesser' runes too.
For the life of me, this DLC is nowhere to be found either under related items or PSN store. I'm in Australia, I have the previous 4 DLC just not the Nilfgaard armor/crossbow. I have finished the story & have master-crafted Ursine armor but it's more the point of it. Anyone have this issue or have a link to where the DLC in the Australian PS store? Really annoying.
