Daybreak Game Company, formerly Sony Online Entertainment, will be getting a new president. John Smedley, who was head of the firm for over a decade, is stepping down as president and chief executive officer, and taking on a new role in the company. Smedley's future position has not yet been made public, but we do know that current chief operating officer Russell Shanks will be taking over.
"I can confirm that John Smedley will be taking some time off from the company for the near-term and transitioning to a different role to be determined," a spokesperson for Daybreak told GamesBeat. "Upon finalisation of his plans, further communication will be provided."
Smedley's decision to step down comes after a number of personal attacks against him from hacker group Lizard Squad, who, along with taking down Daybreak's games' servers, offered a cash reward to anyone who would deface the executive's father's grave.

deface his dads grave for money, I don't know who makes me more sick the people offering the money or the people who would do it for the money
I feel really bad for this guy. Did not deserve to be treated like that and really that guy (those guys) should have gotten a much more severe punishment.
A desperately sorry state of affairs. And the worst part is that the bullies will see this as a victory.
Capitulation is admirable.
Hopefully these guys will get what's coming to them (idiotic squad) & hopefully Smedley will get some peace in his new position.
I've told before, that road of hate will lead him nowhere =(. You can't overplay haters in their favourite game unless you ready to become one.
It does seem like these hackers have way more power over this guy than you would imagine a hacker to have. This is the first story i have ever heard where one guy has been bullied so badly by hackers. It amazes me that they can openly do these things to this guy.
How awesome is this? Guy gets bullied to hell, no one does anything about it and even when someone is arrested for being a part of that group, he gets away with a slap on the wrist. Why should any one of them feel like they should stop now?
Good job, Finland justice system.
Poor bloke. That's just not right.
Not fair at all....what a disgrace.
I want to say what I think but I don't want to get hacked and have my life ruined too.
