After teasing the project for the last few days, developer Piranha Bytes has revealed ELEX - a sci-fi, open world title that'll eventually make it to PlayStation 4. According to the game's press release, ELEX is a "post-apocalyptic science fantasy universe that puts players into a huge, seamless game world full of original characters, mutated creatures, deep moral choices and powerful action". Well, that just about ticks every box, doesn't it?
The action role-playing game will be on show at Gamescom next month, so we'll hopefully get to see something tangible of the release when the German show rolls around. Until then, you'll have to be content in the knowledge that the title's currently expected to release in either late 2016, or early 2017.

I already sense a flop
Putting all that together sounds cool, but also sounds really ambitious, like a sci-fi Shenmue of sorts. I'm all for it, just hope it goes well.
Also, that logo reminds me of Halo.
I'll wait till I hear more before I jump to any conclusions.
Sounds interesting, but, i hope is turns out a lot better than the Risen series did. They were awful.
Can we forget Sci fi for a bit. We have thousands of years of history, which can now look and play great. I am fed to the back teeth of 'sci fi' or 'futuristic' give me 1066, Napoleon, Genghis Khan, Jesus, World War 1. Not this junk.
Sounds good.
@themcnoisy Amen brother! I'm a little over the saturation of futuristic games. A good WW1 game would be refreshing! Hell, even another WW2-era game would be nice..
@themcnoisy Yeah, Assassin's Creed is the only series to do that, but it lost it's integrity a while ago. It proves historical open-wolrd game can sell, so I don't know why they don't make more. More than stategy games should be historical.
>Piranha Bites
Uh oh. Avoid at all costs.
