Street Fighter V's hotly anticipated PlayStation 4 beta has been KO'd by some pretty nasty server issues. The test was set to launch overnight, but Capcom's servers quickly crashed. Excitable series overlord Yoshinori Ono swiftly apologised for the issues on Twitter, explaining that it would be working to resolve things through until 03:00AM PDT/11:00AM BST – but it's still broken as far as we can tell.
Of course, this is the whole point of a beta, so we can forgive the hiccups as long as they're ironed out before launch. The publisher said that it will be extending the test to make up for lost time, so you certainly won't miss out on anything – well, apart from sleep if you decided to stay up late in order to squeeze in a few rounds before bed. Are you in the Street Fighter V beta? Have you managed to play it yet? Connect to our servers in the comments section below.

Doesn't work for me at all. Hopefully they can resolve things by tonight.
@get2sammyb not working for me either and i think the "its a beta these things happen" excuse only goes so far...how can we beta TEST the game if we cant log in? And surely capcom had a rough idea how many beta keys were going out(i didnt preorder, my key was from sony) they should have been prepared
Should have made the article sub text "Hadoucan't"
@DominicanGlory i like that!
@teknium_ Well, I mean, I get what you're saying - but this is part of the test. The servers are being hammered, so they're now fixing it. Better now than on launch day.
@get2sammyb yea true...maybe they should have kept the numbers down tho and maybe increased it over a period of time. At least capcom have said they are going to extend the beta(5 days wasnt enough!)
@teknium_ Yeah, a gradual rollout would have probably been better.
I tried at 0 am and 1 am but that was probably too early for UK anyway. It loaded up but I got server error. If it's sheer numbers then it won't be any better tonight.
I can't even preorder the darn game.....
Waited last night playing IV. At least they are extending the beta. It should be 2 weeks though.
It's good they are extending the Beta because after all this is what Beta are for, I'll try it a bit later on hopefully its working then.
@teknium_ The problem is Sony doesn't know that's the whole point of a beta. Yeah they could have gradually let people in but honestly will that happen on launch day? When launch day comes the online servers will be hammered and we don't need a Drive Club incident. This way hopefully these problems come up now and they fix it now then have a sloppy launch. I rather not be able to play the beta for a few days rather then the having to wait a few days after getting on launch day.
@Tasuki have to agree with you there actually (but usually with betas they limit numbers at first then later add loads of people to stress test the servers)...want a little wager tho?...my pound to your penny says exactly the same will happen at launch
Got to the training stage yesterday. But then it stopped working on me. Charlie is a Shotou now, plays a lot like Ryu. His moves are: quarter circle punch for sonic boom, quarter circle front or back for two different versions of his flash kick, and DP (that's a Ryu uppercut for the uninitiated) with a kick for a very cool new move also his super is double quarter circle back with punch.
Also on the Street Fighter Facebook page it said they were doing maintenance until 3 AM PST.
Capcom, get serious. First the USFIV thing now this. And now there is no excuse that an outside studio is handling duties.
@B3ND3R Thanks for the info! I stink with charge characters, so I never really picked up Charlie or Guile, but since it's easier to do his moves I'll give him another look
My download code doesn't even work, is anyone else getting this issue?
@sinalefa to be fair, capcom didn't port usf4 to the ps4.
@sinalefa This is the nature of a beta, I don't understand why you are upset at Capcom. The problems with USFIV were unexceptable since it was at launch. Betas are suppose to be full of bugs and problems that's the whole point of a beta. I have been in plenty of betas that had this kind of problem, but I guess you don't know how betas work if you did you wouldn't be upset.
ive got into the tarining room a couple of times. tried ryu then chun li out. seems really cool. cant wait for this game.
@sinalefa Also USFIV has been fixed so I don't see any reason to complain about it any more. This is the nature of betas, don't expect perfection on the first attempt to open the servers.
@DerMeister No problem, Charlie is a LOT of fun in my opinion, practice up launching a sonic boom followed by a V-Skill/V-Trigger for some sweet combos.
@sinalefa @Tasuki Yeah, I would much rather have these problems during a beta than the finished product. If it's sorted out well enough, we probably won't have to deal with it when the game's out. As much as I love Injustice, the netcode is kinda shoddy (I have 14 DCs in 2 months, way more than I've had in 3 years of Tekken even when my connection sucked), and I'd rather not deal with it in Street Fighter.
@B3ND3R That sounds sweet, I'll keep that in mind.
@Tasuki
Yes, I think you are right, although still sounds too broken even for a beta. Nothing to wonder when we get broken games at launch
Hope they can iron everything out.
@sinalefa Betas are usually broken, that's why companies have them so they can fix these things before launch. Now if this happens at launch after having these betas then I will join you in complaining.
