Here in the UK, we're currently still enduring a rather sweaty heatwave. Now before you start, yes, we realise that other, generally more sunny countries deal with heat like this on a regular basis, but we Brits just aren't used to it, as evidenced by everyone walking around in public without their shirts on - the dirty buggers. Still, at least editor Sammy Barker picked a good week to take a holiday, eh? Anyway, let's get on with this - what are you playing this weekend?
Robert Ramsey, Associate Editor
With my reign of tyranny almost over, it's all but time to revert back to my role as second in command. Sammy's return means that I might actually get to play some games rather than write about them, so hopefully I can make real progress in the ongoing saga of The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited. That is, if the Push Square staff don't pitchfork me for my brutal leadership beforehand.
Ben Potter, Video Editor
I'll be trying to play Batman: Arkham Knight's tank missions without punching the wall in frustration again. Yes I'm playing on hard, but that's not the point. It's all Rocksteady's fault. Completely. Shut up. I'll punch you.
Kell Andersen, Senior Writer
This weekend will see me attempting to finally begin The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt after an alarming number of false starts. I also need to finish the third chapter of Life is Strange before the next episode launches in a week or two. No rest for the wicked, and all that.
Jamie O'Neill, Reviewer
I not only missed on the full ending by diving my way through a standard completion of Batman: Arkham Knight's main story, but by overlooking the Most Wanted missions I glided past some intriguing rogue encounters, too. I understand now why Sefton Hill from Rocksteady Studios described the Most Wanted segments as more than side stories, because they establish a number of super-villains with their own separate narrative arc.
Marcello Apostolico, Reviewer
While it may be July 4th weekend, I will be hunting down the Arkham Knight and doing my best to save Gotham. Other than that... well, that's about the only game I plan to focus my time on. It really is a stunning release, and Rocksteady hasn't disappointed
Sam Brooke, Reviewer
This weekend I'll be reviewing the ever witty and smart game that is Pneuma: Breath of Life, while also catching up on some Witcher 3, because I'm apparently the only person in the world who didn't play it for 300 hours as soon as it launched [Ya damn right - Ed.]
Steven Tailby, Reviewer
Now that I've returned from my delightful holiday in the sun, this weekend will be all about Arkham Knight. I can't wait to get sucked back into this series - it has yet to fail on its 'Be The Bat' premise and the atmosphere is always on point. Lights off, sound up, see you Monday.
Is it Batman again this weekend, or are you up to something new? Tell us all about what you're playing in the comments section below.

It's the same 4th here so a lot is going on, but want to get a little a Lego Batman 2 in. Otherwise just going to be too busy.
I juts finished Batman: Arkham Knight last night, and I have no interest spending another 12 hours on riddler trophies for the full ending, I mean seriously, what was Rocksteady thinking, neat unlockable for 100%, sure, but the ending of the game? It practically makes the presence of riddler trophies a bad thing. It game has such a great story, but I can't believe how they went full retard like with the ending.
Ahem, back to what I'm playing though, I'll probably get AC: Unity today. I'm also surprised you guys didn't mention it was the 4th of July (Independence Day) for those of us in the US. Does your team have no one in the US?
I want Sony to announce a Singstar Taylor Swift edition just to see what Sammy's reaction will be
As for what I'm playing mainly trying to 100% Arkham Knight so I can get the full ending, just 7 Ridder trophies left now.
Batman: Arkham Knight and Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition.
I'm getting beyond frustrated with some of the Batmobile segments in Arkham Knight and I'm at the point where I'm just not going to do the optional ones because I hate this thing with a passion. Can't believe how badly Rocksteady f'ed it up.
Watch dogs, alot of ppl hated this game but do far I've been really enjoying it. Maybe some Dragon age inquisition, but i doubt it, i usually only play one game at a time
Well, UK has been getting 32C (90F for the USA ppls) so that is actually pretty hot for what their use too. I live in Canada near Toronto area and that's usually around what the temperature gets here during the summer normally, but that's really really hot for the UK!
I plan on finishing off Metal Gear Solid 2 HD, starting Metal Gear Solid 4, and then spend some much needed time with The Witcher 3.
@Jaz007 on that point here's some other days no one mentions
Saturday Jul 4 Fast of Shiva Asar B'Tammuz Israel
Saturday Jul 4 Nuzul Al-Quran Malaysia
Saturday Jul 4 US Independence Day Puerto Rico
Saturday Jul 4 Liberation Day Rwanda
Saturday Jul 4 Independence Day United States
Sunday Jul 5 Constitution Day Armenia
Sunday Jul 5 Saints Cyril and Methodius Czech Republic
Sunday Jul 5 Independence Day Algeria
Sunday Jul 5 Youth Day Singapore
Sunday Jul 5 St. Cyril & St. Methodius Day Slovakia
Sunday Jul 5 Independence Day Venezuela
I'm playing Another World (£2) just completed and the order later on
@themcnoisy Don't they mention British holidays though? (Do they? I thought they did, but can't remember) I figured they'd have enough US people to mention a big US holiday. And, and the risk of coming across wrong, America is a bigger country than most of the ones you mentioned, and makes up a bigger portion of readers, so I figured it'd get a mention.
@hYdeks
I actually liked Watch_Dogs quite a bit. The problem is hype was through the roof and it didn't live up to the initial promise. I've played far worse games though.
Nothing for me this weekend. I'm out of state with no consoles. So the best I can offer you is I'm trying out fallout shelter on the iPad.
If I were to get home with enough time, I'm just about to start act 2 on the witcher.
@ztpayne7 What's it like, I've got an Android tablet so will have to wait.
I will be finishing off Arkham Knight to 100% - just 6 more trophies at time of writing and they are all in Panessa Studio's - my next place to visit - Everything else (apart from the main Story which is at 94%) is finished....
Edit: completed it now - don't think I am ready for a new game+ just yet....
@Jaz007 your right, the 4th of July ain't big round these parts as we lost. Lol. But the readership does tend to be an anglo/us mix predominantly like going into Iraq all over again.
Well since I have to work and have family stuff due to the holiday I won't be gaming much. If I do it will be
PC — Heroes of the Storm — Being that matches are quick in this game I can probably sneak a few in.
Also would like to get some Driveclub and Tomb Raider in but I doubt it.
Finally playing through the campaign of Advanced Warfare. At its core, it's pretty fun! I think it stumbles a bit with its non-standard sections, like the drone and hoverbike bits, but it's leagues ahead of ghosts. Currently watching WWE Beast in the East though. Neville vs Jericho! Balor vs Owens! If anyone knows what I'm talking about, it's pretty awesome so far
I wanted to wait for Telltale Got and TftB to finish but gave in, it's great for this weather were it's relaxing
Playing through Batman, which is good fun. Disheartened to learn I won't get a decent ending though as I don't want to hunt down all the annoying collectibles. Sucks the fun out of it a bit. Not all of us have the time to do absolutely everything .
Hunting down the last 10 gwent cards I need before finishing the story for the witcher platinum
I'm still working my way through the defiled chalice in Bloodborne. I'm slowly working my way to that platinum.
@Gamer83 Me too. Watch Dogs was decent. I couldn't understand all the negativity it got really other than the whole graphics downgrading thing.
This weekend I'm finishing off Walking Dead: Season 2 on Vita...
SPLATOON
Arkham Knight of course. Maybe a little Driveclub PS Plus edition if I get time.
I'm spending the weekend dogsitting, so I probably won't play much. If I do it'll mostly be Uncharted 2 on hard.
Dat picture!
After a strong week from Naughty Dog, I've been in the mode to playing my 2nd play through of one of the greatest games of all time in The Last Of Us Remastered on my PlayStation 4. So that's what today will be for me on this 4th of July, and later Burgers and Hot Dogs.
Just finished Batman. Probably going to play The Order a bit.
@get2sammyb she's certainly easy on the eye is Swifty.
@LieutenantFatman I know right. After I beat the game, I made a conservative estimate of how long it would take. I estimated 13 hours. Thank goodness youtube exists, but it still takes something away from the game.
You guys just like her cause she's a Californian, blonde with flat red lipstick... Quintessence ad nauseum. I was born in '89 too, bfd lady.
On topic: I keep finding new stuff in Fallout 3, so that's holding my attention well. And a Sims 2 apocalypse challenge will take up the rest
@get2sammyb Stop posting Taylor Swift stuff!
She makes me feel things, emotionally!
She makes all of us feel things!
Saints Row 4, The Last of Us, Battlefield 4,
Finished the FFX-2 plat this morning but apart from that it's all about Arkham Knight for me this weekend. Really enjoying it so far, and I still can't quite believe how fantastic it looks, especially when you're gliding around areas like China town!
@JesWood13 if you've not already, you really should play 3 before moving on to 4. I know it's not chronologically set between 2 and 4, but there are bits of 4 that will make a lot more sense if you've played 3 beforehand.
J-Stars Victory Vs+
@SteveButler2210 I played and beat 3 sometime last year, haha. I'm playing them according to chronological order. I played Twin Snakes back in the GameCube era.
@Dodoo
I think it was the graphics, the delay and the fact that when the game finally released it succumbed to the samey feeling that all Ubisoft open world games have. Lack of a compelling lead character also didn't help. But, for all its issues there is actually groundwork laid out for a good future. Ubisoft will have to make some changes to its gameplay structure though. Watch_Dogs and Assassin's Creed should not seem like you're playing the same game.
@Gamer83 definitely agree Ubi's game structure needs changing. Far Cry is another example with the same "liberate-outpost-to-unlock-map-and-sidequests" setup. Like you say, playing many of their different games can feel very familiar.
Looking forward to seeing what they have planned for the sequel though - I just hope they give us a new protagonist!
Shadow of mordor, really enjoying chopping Uruks heads of and watching them roll down a hill for 5 minutes Then it will be straight back to Eso.
@Dodoo
New protagonist and setting hopefully.
@Gamer83 i usually try to avoid alot of the hype and what some people say, not all games are for everyone
@Dodoo I have the ps4 version and it looks pretty stunning. Never played or seen the PS3 version; so i have no idea.
It's foggy and cold here in Australia.
I've made some real progress in Mass Effect 2. Messed up 2 of the crews quests and dialled the difficulty down to casual for the Firewalker quests (ain't nobody got time for that). But the end is now in sight. Hopefully it doesn't take me 5 years to finish the next one!
I thought for sure there would be some kinda 4th of July Flash sale in the US but nothing... I will probably just do some trophy hunting on Uncharted GA on the Vita.
@rjejr
"SPLATOON"
High five.
Wii U: Fire Emblem (GBA).....Splatoon
PS4: Batman Arkham Knight
X1: [nothing]
3DS: [nothing]
Vita: [nothing]
J-Stars Victory VS+ on the PS4
Yoshi's Woolly World, Dark Souls 2, Puzzle&Dragons Mario edition, Splatoon and maybe the Witcher 3. (Which I bought instead of Batman last week when I found out it was such a bore)
Oh and probably some Smash bros or Monster Hunter with an American buddy.
Unless its as hot as yesterday...then I'll just play Puzzle&Dragons on my 3DS instead of turning on my stove..errr...consoles and TV.
@Splat Lol I was waiting to see if there was going to be a sale this weekend also
@adf86 it's fun I suppose. I'm already getting a little bored of it, but I'm usually not one for tablet games. I couldn't imagine trying to play it on a phone because of the size though.
