Last week, Square Enix was teasing a Dragon Quest announcement in Japan. Many speculated that the publisher was going to reveal the series' next main instalment, while others thought that it could have something to do with the franchise's well known spin-offs. As it turns out, both guesses were wrong, as Dragon Quest Builders has been announced for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita.
From what we gather, it's essentially Minecraft, but it's obviously set in Dragon Quest's charming universe. According to Gematsu, the game's labelled as a 'block-making role-playing game', and it's coming out in The Land of the Rising Sun this winter.
Are you interested, or is this just Square Enix trying to capitalise on the Minecraft crowd? Raise one eyebrow in the comments section below.

It begins!
"Insert me swearing in annoyance", there are already a bazillion Minecraft clones we don't need more.
I would buy it.
Why is Link in the game.. lol - When i saw the pic i got excited as i thaght it was a New 3D DOT Heros... ha ha... Stupid me... -_-
Meh. Nothing about Minecraft has ever really interested me. Give me a western release of the 3DS versions of DQ7/8 and I'll be happy...
Edit: this just prompted me to have a bit of a google, and it looks like it's actually happening. Finally!! Although seeing as it sounds like the PR crowd weren't too chuffed with Horii making the announcement, I'd assume they're still a long way off yet. Oh well, I've been wanting to go back and play VIII for years (I never got all that far back on PS2, but loved what I did play), and VII being released for the first time in the West is pretty big too. All we need now is some Vita versions!!

Noooooooooooooooo…..
I'm torn between Day 1 and why?
My kid played the LBS skin yesterday and it was fun, I almost picked up a controller and joined him. For an open world they did a really good job w/ the platforming. So I saw the picture and thought "skin".
OTOH we recently paid $15 for Lego Worlds and it's different enough that it was worth it.
So, I'll buy this Day 1 on PS3 for $15 or $20 but not $60.
Wtf?! I want a Dragon Quest game, not more of that silly, stupid Minecraft stuff!
Don't have the time to build stuff, so minecraft genre doesn't really interest me. Kind of a kick in the nutsack though considering they have real DQ games to localize and bring over here.
Eh...
Just give me a real DQ title. I'm no longer 12 or an obnoxious Youtuber.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi Its owned by MS so im not surprised at the lack of Crossbuy.
Um...well I didn't want this, but if it comes west....what the hell I might as well get it! (Or you know Square...Enix, guys you could give us DQVII and VIII...pretty please???? No...)
I never got into Minecraft although I did try it a few times. One of the reasons was it all just felt so soulless, an endless expanse of randomly generated terrain with nothing interesting to see wherever you go.
If I want to "create" a pirate ship, I could just draw one. I never really got why making a pixelly one on my screen was better than just drawing stuff.
However, if this can add actual personality and charm to the setting so it feels less like what I just described and more like you're actually building and crafting stuff in an interesting setting, in a game that would be fun anyway even if you don't like placing one cube on top of another for 1000 hours, then it might be the solution to my dislike of the genre.
This is your second warning now please watch the language. -Tasuki-

It was released 14 years ago in the West, just not in Europe. I'm so glad times have (99%) changed since then; to think the first FF we got was VII and the first DQ was VIII.
I'm disappointed, was really hoping it was the next main DQ game.
