Crash Bandicoot turned out to be one of the biggest brands of the 90s, but Universal Interactive Studios had even bigger plans for the property before Sony licensed it for its legendary PSone platforming trilogy. During the early days of development, the publisher was knocking around the idea of an Animaniacs-inspired cartoon spin-off – and here's your first look at a prototype that was produced.
The idea was that the animation would be fleshed out further if the game was a commercial success – which, of course, it was. But the Japanese giant was eager to push the polygonal power of its inaugural gaming console at the time, and it felt that the 2D cartoon detracted from its message. Subsequently, the show was scrapped – and discussions regarding some kind of Crash Bandicoot-themed attraction at a Universal Theme Park were also shelved.
In truth, the clip embedded below is pretty cringe-worthy – but it's very much a product of the times. We were growing up when these kinds of cartoons were popular, and we hate to go all "back in our day" on your asses, but we'd take this over the current crop of kids TV any day of the week. But would your younger self have been able to stomach back-to-back episodes of this particular show? Spin dash into the comments section below.

Amazing.
Goddam furries.
Used to have a crush on Coco. Not ashamed to admit it.
@stevie85 I always wondered how Crash was actually able to have a chance with her. She must like his... er... humour?
@ShogunRok @stevie85 Let's not go down this path any further! XD
@ShogunRok @get2sammyb Agreed XD
I would've loved this! lol
hey , didn't i see a GTA cartoon on cbeebies the other day ?
@BLPs Oh yeah, I didn't realise @stevie85 said Coco - I just assumed we were talking about Crash's girlfriend. Unless he meant Twana in the first place?
Even for its time this is pretty bad. Earthworm Jim predates this and is a much better realisation of a whacky cartoon / video game crossover.
And kids TV these days is pretty freakin awesome. Adventure Time and Regular Show alone are better than anything I ever used to watch as a kid.
That ending took me completely off guard. I was like, "Oh, Crash saves the da- WHAT."
Anyway, that was really bizarre! I'm surprised this took so long to be unveiled, but hey, better extremely late than never. Now, I wonder if Crash would have had a voice if this had been made into a show...
@BLPs yea, I kinda thought the same thing
Coco was first seen in crash 2 and is his sister, Tawna is the girl he tries to rescue in crash 1.
For the time, this cartoon probably would have been pretty sweet, don't exactly care much for the ending where they say "buy our games so we can make lots of money" part though, that's just retarded.
@ShogunRok No Coco oddly enough. This is a weird debate lol.
@stevie85 I never knew Crash Bandicoot's lore was so deep.
Truth be told, I would've watched this regardless of quality, considering how big I was on Crash as well as Animaniacs and Tiny Toons as a kid.
I would have watched it as long as it didn't run at the same time as power rangers or street sharks.
@sonicmeerkat OHMYGODSTREETSHARKS.
