This one stings: critically acclaimed city building simulation Cities: Skylines will make its console debut on the Xbox One. Microsoft gleefully made the announcement during its Gamescom 2015 press conference earlier today. Of course, every man made cloud has a silver lining, and the wording of the reveal leads us to believe that a PlayStation 4 port will follow soon after. Goat Simulator was announced in a similar manner last Gamescom, and is now making its way to Sony's system four months after Microsoft's machine.
In fact, the Redmond firm revealed quite a few indie debuts. Ark: Survival Evolved and Sheltered will both be playable first on the Xbox One due to the firm's Early Access-esque programme, while Compulsion Games' drug addled We Happy Few will enjoy a similar rollout. The good news is that all of these titles will almost certainly make their way to PlayStation eventually – but we'll be contacting all of the associated developers individually just to make sure.

Cool. But only if it controls well on a console which I reckon is a bit of a challenge
Sigh looks like it more and more that I will be getting an Xbox One later this year.
I will admit, MS looks like they are starting to wake up this gen, Sony is being to complacent now yeah they were kicking butt in the beginning of this gen but in the last six months MS is doing some major catching up with these kind of announcements.
@Tasuki I don't know, they both do the console debut thing. It's inevitable that the 'other side' will get one or two that you want eventually. I didn't think today's press conference was all that special at all personally, but that's just me.
In fact, this is the only thing I'm jelly of.
Cities Skylines is literally the best city building game ever and definitely a GOTY pick for me, but porting it to consoles is a weird move
@get2sammyb I am talking the last few months with the BC announcement and then Rare Replay and now this. I mean really the only exclusive I am excited about PS4 wise is Horizon.
And before you say Shenmue 3 or LG, I never played the other games in the series so those don't excited me at the moment maybe if I played the others. And I hate FF VII
@Tasuki So you want an Xbox One mostly to play old games?
Sony is starting to look static in Comparison to Microsoft. Complacency is seeping in. Sony really are playing catch up when it comes to features on each console as well as games in my opinion. Scalebound looks great and the backwards compatibility is making Sonys PlayStation Now pricing look ridiculous. Sony really need to come out guns blazing in Paris and not just rehash what we know already. Uncharted etc.... .
@Jazzer94 I will take an system to play older games. While I don't dislike newer gen games I am finding it harder and harder to get into them. Most of them are story driven that take themselves too seriously, or lack simple options such as same room multiplayer. Day one patches are getting old having to have consistent internet connection is annoying, yeah I will take older games any day.
@Tasuki I don't know in what context that Microsoft are catching up? It isn't sales that's for sure, it isn't exclusives because it's either the same old franchises or on PC too or both. Backwards Compatibility should have been a feature at launch now it's just something people think they want but will rarely use.
@Tasuki Fair enough BC isn't much of a selling point for me as I just keep my old consoles and games, I've said in the past the Rare collection looks quality and value for money but it would never be a reason for me to buy the console as I look for new experiences when purchasing not just playing the same stuff.
@Tasuki Yh because sonyy hasn't been revealing/releasing games right?
@Tasuki Are you not looking forward to Uncharted 4?
Nah, I mean that's fair enough. I certainly see what you're saying. I'd probably buy Rare Replay too, for the record!
@Jazzer94 Yeah I have alot of my older consoles too and yeah I enjoy new experiences too but nowadays it just seems that games tend to be more story driven and less focused on fun. Don't get me wrong I liked Tomb Raider, GTA V, and Sleeping Dogs to name a few but once I finish those games that's it for me. Games from like the PS2 era down it seems have more replay value, more mutiplayer games that are just for fun and enjoyment like Rocket League for example. It's hard for me to explain really, it's just how I have been feeling this gen.
@get2sammyb Yeah I forgot about that one. I am sure there are a few others and I am sure I will probably be excited for Shenmue III and LG but first I need to play the other ones lol. Part of me from getting excited for those ones is that I hate playing games out of order in a series if that makes sense.
@Tasuki This why I haven't got The Witcher 3, I really want to play the first two but I'm not going to buy an xbox or PC to do so, hence why I'm waiting for a possible remaster.
@Tasuki "Sigh looks like it more and more that I will be getting an Xbox One later this year"
Dont do it Tasuki, Microsoft led us gamers a merry dance and tried to sell us out through DRM, Licensing games and tvtvtv. I'm roughly the same age as your good self and have the same passion for games and had a 360, that would of been the end for me if xbox one won. Reasons - Forget your game collections, forget swapping games, forget playing games. They made us fans and then mocked us as fools. Screw them.
This gen has been plagued by problems - but it is up to people like you and I to disregard that rubbish, and for sites like pushsquare to take a stand. By all means buy an x1 in a few years when its a legacy machine but not now, not while the battle is afoot, they can never be seen as competing not after there shambolic release. Dont do it.
@themcnoisy Now there is a man after my own heart
@themcnoisy Yeah, I don't play sides man. I am a gamer first and foremost. I don't carry about Sony VS MS VS Nintendo. Denying yourself games just because they are the "enemy" is just stupid.
Yeah I wasn't pleased at MS for their original policies but I believe that was more Mattrick then MS. Look how quick they parted ways when that didn't go over well.
@Tasuki its not about sides, everything you have in your collection from the x1 would be defunct, if Mattrick had got his way. And no Microsoft have been in the heavy DRM licensing business since windows 97.
Yes they seemingly have gone back to the drawing board but why support them, when they were so anti gaming as we know it? You don't like final fantasy 7 - that's fine. But do you honestly want to play forza 765 or Halo 1632 more? Where are the knights of the old republics? Jet set radio futures? I may be going overboard and I WILL buy an x1 in 3/4 years to catch up on gears and crackdown but I have lost all trust and the kudos they gained was lost the minute they started flogging that underpowered vhs Kinect machine.
@themcnoisy If Mattrick got his way I wouldn't have even considered an Xbox One. That's why I have a PS4 now.
