Once again, there's nothing doing in the Japanese sales charts – well, unless you're fascinated by the evergreen nature of Nintendo's biggest franchises. Actually, the PlayStation 4 is proving a bit of an oddity in the East at the moment; it's not selling well by any stretch of the imagination, but it's still managing to move units despite a complete dearth of new releases. We suppose that the impending Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain along with free bundled copies of Bloodborne are just about doing the business.
Sony's other flagship format, the PlayStation Vita, is faring a bit better in the software department, with Minecraft: PS Vita Edition now up to 300,001 lifetime sales. Yeah, you can pretty much bank on Dragon Quest: Builders being the biggest thing since sliced bread. Other than that, there's not really much to say – but we would like to know your predictions for Japanese PS4 hardware sales during Metal Gear Solid release week. We reckon that anything less than 50,000 units would be a disappointment, but what do you think?

poor Xbone.
(T-T )
Robot Wars wow a blast from the past. I remember Hypnodisc annihilating everything in its path and Craig Charles was lost for words. What a design.
Isn't everywhere overseas for you though? : P
the xbox one 160 wtf.
I'm not sure Metal Gear will have a huge affect largely because it's also coming out on PS3 same I believe with Persona 5 which may have helped. I would say that this holiday season is the first genuine reason for people to upgrade with the games on offer, however the Japanese have a peculiar taste in games and I'm not sure what will appeal to them. One thing is certain is that all the consoles need solid numbers there over Christmas otherwise the market may never really recover. Not all bad news because I expect it'll sell incredibly well everywhere else especially with that Star Wars model.
@Jaz007 I don't think so, between europe's mainland and great brittain lays a canal, not a sea.
SRW is basically Japan's FIFA. A million releases that all blend into one that only sell because of their licenses. Still, I'd take it any day of FIFA or Madden. At least the thing it licences are cool giant robots rather than a load of sweaty chavs.
@Jaz007 You're quite right - that was poorly written! I've changed it now.
Again, this looks almost the same as last week's, with the exception of someone knocking AC off the first place. And again, very impressed with Splatoon and Rhythm Heaven.
And as you mention, second place in hardware sales with 0 games in the top 20 is very good for PS4.
@Utena-mobile XboxNOne!!!
@Matroska Chavs! LOL! (reading this as I play some Madden. That includes us Yanks to, right.?)
@TomKnows I dunno, I guess it would be jocks there? Here a lot of our footballers are people that would now be in prison for burglary or assault if they weren't born into a world where kicking a little ball around a field was so highly valued.
