Transformers: Devastation certainly appears to have the touch – but will it have the power, too? The forthcoming animated series tie-in from Platinum Games will see you play as a total of five different Autobots: Optimus Prime, Grimlock, Sideswipe, Wheeljack, and Bumblebee. And as evidenced in the trailer embedded below, each will have a unique fighting style designed to match their personality.
But while the combat looks pretty darn awesome, we're worried about the lack of variety on display. So far, all we've really seen of the game are a series of combat arenas – and while we do get a glimpse of a new train-based level, the same city-based stage has popped up yet again. We've got our fingers-crossed that there's going to be more to the game than simply pummelling Decepticreeps, but we'll see.
Either way, the artstyle alone is probably going to make this a must for fans of the franchise, and the good news is that there's a pre-order bonus up for grabs if you register your interest in the title prior to release. In addition to including three character skin swaps – for Nemesis Prime, Red Alert, and Goldfire – you'll also get three bonus weapons. The game's due out on 6th October.

I might give this game a shot, considering the combat looks pretty good. Plus, I like pre-order bonuses, so I guess I will be buying Transformers: Devastation, unless something terrible comes out of the blue about the game. And I liked Transformers when I was younger, so I'd like to see how it has changed since then in the games.
This is pure Platinum at its best! somehow it reminds me of The Wonderful 101, one of the most funny action game I've played recently (also from platinum).
I will follow this game, looks great
So many good games coming out starting from September till November and this one looks promising so far. I also like the destructible environments.
@get2sammyb : I understand that you are worried because it looks all the same. That's the love it / hate it around Platinum productions normally. By having played their most recent games on WiiU (tw101 and Bayonetta2) I would say that yes, the whole game will be around a tight and engaging combat mechanic, full pace action and good visuals. I won't expect any great story nor extensive gameplay variations. It will be just pure, "sweaty" action.
Should have given this to Omega Force by the looks of it!
I not sure about Transformers while the combat looks good how much depth to it have to it? I would like to see Metal Gear Rising 2 or DMC 5 (Which will never happen by PG).
It's like my childhood cartoons in video game form. This looks amazing. I've always been a fan of cel shaded art style in games (auto modelesta was great). I may pick this up.
@arnoldlayne83 You need a bit of variety to keep things fresh, though — even if it's just different parts of the level. That city stage they've been showing is literally the exact same area every time.
@get2sammyb
For me variety would be the ability to use Decepticons. But I hope it delivers, because it looks good.
That reminds me Transformers Splat fest starts tomorrow at midnight as Nintendo uses the Wii U to advertise a game it isn't getting. Next up, COD or Battlefront?
Same worries about the game here. It LOOKS great, porbably plays great as well....but is there enough diversity...looks like it will get boring pretty fast.......
The War series by High Noon Studios were amazing....kinda sad we're not getting another chapter from that series, even though the third part had a bit of a been-there-done-that feeling.
Fingers crossed "I hope its good I hope its good I hope its good I hope its good"
@rjejr
They are advertising the cartoon, not the game
And they have Ryu in Smash and Wii U is not getting SFV. Don't see you bringing that up
@sinalefa Thing is though Ryu was chosen by the fans.
@sinalefa - That's b/c I had no idea Ryu was from SFV. But even if I did know that, isn't SFV a PS4 exclusive? As in not on any MS systems. Or PS3 even? T:D is on everything BUT Wii U. There's your difference.
@rjejr
Funny since this is the same scenario as the Korra game: PlatinumGames making a licensed title based on a cartoon, published by Activision on all consoles except Wii U.
Guess the difference with SFV is that it has a semblance of excuse for missing Wii U
@sinalefa Well the difference w/ Korra is nobody cared. Well outside of the Avatar fan sI suppose, but Avatar isn't as big as Transformers. As bad as the 4 recent Transformers movies were they weren't as bad as that live action Avatar movie.
