Is skating still popular? We're not sure, but we certainly don't recognise any of the pros from this Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 trailer. Well, aside from the Birdman and his son Riley, of course. In this clip, the "stars" talk about how cool it is being in a video game, which we can understand β especially seeing as most of these grew up with Activision's series.
The game still looks rough, though. The new art style has been fully implemented now, and you could argue that it looks a little cleaner and more colourful β but the animations and physics look all kinds of wrong in our opinion, and we can't imagine that this is going to be all that fun to play. The proof will be in the pudding, though β it's out next month.

I can't be the only one who's incredibly excited for this game, right?
Considering it's a cross-PS3 game, I wouldn't expect amazing PS4 graphics, but none of the Tony Hawk games have ever had amazing graphics. It's always been about exploring the skate parks, finding secrets, and having fun speeding around combining tricks for a high score.
As for the physics, they look fine, the speed and trick execution looks similar to the PS2 games, loads better than the HD remake.
What pros do you recognize? The ones from previous games?
@eLarkos I only really knew Tony and Riley. Where's Geoff Rowley?
Is there a create-a-skater mode?
Well I can confirm that they are indeed some of the biggest names in skating right now.
Cant wait to play the hd upgrade version...
Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 on the PS2.
To me the physics look like thps1,2 and 3 - which is a good thing for a game. I know loads of people liked skate but I never got along with it. Thps is where its at.
i am the only one that thinks the scale of the more open environments are a little off. look at 0:09, 1:17 , 1:40-41 in the video. that`s the only thing that puts me off the game
I'm familiar with some of them. I'm actually happy Chris Cole is in, though Rodney Mullen isn't. Nyjah Huston's acting like he's never been in a game before lol, I remember him as a dreadlocked youngster in Project 8.
As for the game itself, we'll just have to see. It could be really fun, or a turd on wheels. I will maintain that it doesn't look like it belongs on next gen though.
