PlayStation Now has proven to be something of an anti-climax we suppose. Don't get us wrong, the technology is impressive, but Sony's struggled to stumble upon a business model that makes sense for both the company and consumers, and that's dampened the enthusiasm for the service somewhat. Plus, that whole backwards compatibility announcement for Xbox One was a bit of a kick in the teeth.
Still, the organisation has invested heavily in the technology, and we doubt that it's going to throw in the towel just yet. In fact, while it may not seem like it now, streaming games via the Internet will probably be the norm in 15 or so years, so it's better that it works out all of the kinks while it has the chance. And the next entry on its checklist is to extend subscription functionality to the PlayStation Vita, which will be introduced tomorrow in North America.
What does this mean, though? Well, in simple terms, you'll be able to stream over 125 classic PlayStation 3 titles to your favourite portable console for a $19.99 monthly fee. It's still quite steep we suppose – and this option isn't even available in Europe yet – but when the software selection gets beefed out a bit more, we reckon that it will be worth the entry fee. What are your thoughts on PlayStation Now these days, though? Stream your thoughts into the comments section below.

Well I guess if you want a portable PS3 this is one way to go.
When can I play Skyrim, bioshock, red dead redemption or ni no kuni on ps vita?!
PlayStation Now on the Vita doesn't make a lot of sense does it? Just another reason why I lump the Vita into the fail category. As the article says it's obviously just a continued test of the service prepping for the future.
Ps now is abit much, but when the subscription model is in the UK I might get a month every now and then to play some exclusives I missed last gen.
Said it before...but how about adding psnow to ps+ and uping the price(but keeping the existing price of £39.99 for those that only want a "standard" ps +)
@ryanorly
Here's a point a wanna add: give free "virtual backwards compatibility" to owners (digital or physical) of the games that are available. So if I own Killzone 3, I put it in my PS4 drive and it unlocks unlimited free play of the game I bought earlier.
Why would you give away games for free if you can charge people one might ask? Well, because A: it's the decent thing to do, but more importantly B: it will attract a huge group of people to PSnow. And if those people who normally just play their PS4 or Vitas see that PSnow actually works when they stream games from their own PS3 library, they will most certainly rent or buy more games down the road. We see it happening now with the 360 compatibility on the One: people are buying 360 games that are on sale because they HOPE it'll be available for them to play on the One if the BC launches.
I'm positive that to make PSnow a succes, you need the core gamers first. And if you can lure them in by giving them what they already own you don't just create a lot of goodwill like MS is doing now, you'll make money off of a service that just costs money at this point because you'll sell or rent out games easier cause you have a huge audience. And when that snowball starts rolling and PSnow has proven itself the casuals with their Bravia TVs and Xperia smartphones will follow soon!
Would be sad if sony cant get the pricing right, having used psnow beta and a couple of games since i can say the technology is really great..games play so smoothly
Would be neat if instead of receiving your free games from plus each month, you could decide instead to play two titles of your choice from psnow for the entire month. The next month you could either get the free plus games or take your pick from now. IMO, it should be two games if you own one device and then add another if you own a ps3 and another if you own a vita. Hell, maybe if you owned a Sony TV that could stream now as well. This would quiet down the grumblings over what free games are offered and reward those who have gone all in with sony on multiple devices. I think this would really bring alot of goodwill and may even create some more plus subscriptions.
Add this with ability to vote on plus games and you are getting alot of bang with your buck and alot of control over what you want to play.
Guys please don't responed to that troll, we will take care of him.
Thanks
I think this is great news for the Vita given that Sony have said it won't be getting anymore big first party or AAA games. I have a North American and European account so I'll look forward to trying it soon. I also think $20 a month is still better than £4,99 for 48hrs or £7,99 for 30 days on a single game.
Maybe PlayStation Now & Remote Play is what the Vita needs to boost sales. It could give the Vita a second chance and maybe, just maybe start getting the support it deserves and start to turn things around. I guess time will tell.
I think that if you're a PlayStation Plus subscriber you should get the PlayStation Now service for $10-$15 and if your not you pay the full $20 a month.
Make it $10/£7-8 a month and maybe you'll build up a good user base, $20 is just too much.
Bah, just do the pricing at $50 per year, same as PS+. Or $90 per year if you buy a bundle package of PS+ and PSNow together.
Like the article says this is for the future.
Right now, why do I want to pay for a poor selection of games, many of which I've already got. Not only that I physically own them, they will not expire in a month or whatever, they won't eat up my bandwidth or play with lag.
Why the world wants to move to streaming is still beyond me.
When you can buy 5 ps3 games for £20 this service makes no sense.
I will never be able to use it as my internet speed is not very good. But if this was my first choice off playing games then 19$ is a great deal. But if it my second choice for game playing, then it need to be cheaper
@Tasuki
The problem is that playing ps3 game using the vitas controls is a pain. It would have been nice if the vitas controls were the same as the dualshock with all the bylttons and the L3 and R3. It would have been a perfect portable console for ps4 or ps3 games.
this could definitely work and everyone here seems to know it. They've got to lower those eye-watering rental prices or get a subscription thing going. I used to pay £15 for Lovefilm and they delivered the games to you to play for as long as you wanted. What is it £5 per game per 24hrs at the moment?
"$19.99 monthly fee"
Nope nope nope, make that the price for 3 months or fail.
How about a year of PS Now free with every new Vita purchase? Might actually sell some Vitas. I also feel like Sony keep missing a trick with linking the Vita's remote play capability into the success of the PS4. There's about 25 million people out there who could use a Vita to remote play PS4 games, at least 15 million of them don't currently have a Vita. Put some second screen apps and functionality into first-party and selected third-party "special partner" games as well.
