If you own a PlayStation 4, then you're in for a real treat next month, as you'll be getting four games for the new-gen format as part of your PlayStation Plus subscription. Grow Home won the Vote to Play poll, and will be one of your freebies, where it'll be joined by the brilliant Super Time Force Ultra. That latter one's cross-buy with the PlayStation Vita, so don't worry if you haven't got Sony's current flagship format yet.
PlayStation 3 owners will land David Jaffe's decent Twisted Metal reboot, while puzzle platformer Teslagrad will also be up for grabs on PS4 and PS3. Last but not least, there's La-Mulana EX on the PlayStation Vita, as well as Xeodrifter, which is cross-buy across the portable platform and PS4. A pretty stellar lineup we reckon β but what do you think? Let us know down below.

Fantastic lineup. Looking forward to Super Time Force Ultra and Grow Home especially, but very eager to try out Teslagrad, La Mulana, and Xeodrifter. Also, I think the Twisted Metal reboot is great, but the netcode is a bit dodgy. Not sure if they patched that.
Really great lineup for me, all but Twisted Metal I haven't got.
Wow, so glad i didn't buy Xeodrifter on Wii U/3DS and that was because Wii U version forces you to use gamepad and won't allow the use of the Wii U Pro Controller, i actually save $10+. Some games I'm interested in this lineup.
@Sonicfan11589 Is it Renegade Kid? It looks a lot like Mutant Mudds - hadn't made that connection!
none of this interests me personally here is me hoping next months better
based on recent months properly not
@Spooke2k What would be your dream lineup?
Super Time Force, w00t. I'll be occupied with MGS5 and TTK but great to have on the back burner.
@get2sammyb tbh id like to have seen
knack
killzone ,
something like stormwarning
or something similar to outlast,
everyone's gone to rapture,
double dragon ,
shovel knight
broken age
last of us
middle earth
I like indie titles but for me not picking right ones and id like see more triple a titles
"September's PlayStation Plus Lineup Includes Four Terrible PS4 Games"
Fixed.
To be fair, I'm being a bit facetious, but describing this lineup as anything but average is a bit of a stretch. STFU looks okay.. ish. I will probably give it a go but can't see it being much good.
The rest though? Abhorrent. They REALLY need to knock it on the head with the pixel art now. It's becoming so insanely difficult to stick out in that genre now. Grow Home looks boring as hell too.
Twisted metal makes me think of ICP for some reason, so I'll give that a miss. La Mulana is an insult.
Solid line up. Will give Grow Home a shot.
@Johnnycide HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
I only have La Mulana and I do like this month's games, they look fun, I just hopethey are not that short
La Mulana reminds me of Rick Dangerous..
@kyleforrester87 Yeah, hit submit on that by mistake. Stupid phone.
@Johnnycide lmao fair play
Well this is certainly playing right into the hands of the PS+ detractors. My PS+ actually ran out recently and while I'm usually happy to just let it chug along hoovering up whatever comes along, I might actually leave it a month (at least) before renewing, especially since in a few days I'll be playing Pirate Warriors 3 and a few days after that MGSV comes out.
This is better la-mulana is an actually awesome indie game.
To be honest, only Twisted Metal appeals but I haven't fired up the PS3 for over a year now - too many new Gen 8 games to play! None of the offerings that are on PS4 appeal at all. I have no interest in yet another 8bit platformer with hideous and irritating digitised sound or any of the other 'indie' games.
Super time force ultra looks like a great and ingenious game, its also for me the only worthwhile title being offered, unfortunately I already know I'll be crap at it and won't like it. Never mind.
None of the lineup appeals to me , want proper games not Nintendo games
La-Mulana, STFU and Xeodrifter, great month for Vita owners! Glad they announced it today as I was toying with the idea of buying La-Mulana after I got paid!
I figured Grow Home would win.
@Spooke2k That's fair. I reckon you'll definitely see some of those games on PlayStation Plus eventually.
Possibly the most disappointing lineup in recent memory for me.
@get2sammyb I definitely see the benefit of plus and also introducing indie games and it isn't feasibly to put new triple a games in every month right now.
im sure ill see lot of those games some point so heres hoping next month is better for me
As a Nintendo fan, I'm all over this line up!
Cracking value!
More games to add to the library then. certainly wont play most of them.
Does anyone else remember way back on PS3 when Sony actually cared about PS+? Considering they just hiked the price up (I know the yearly sub stays the same) they really need to improve the offerings, vastly increase cloud storage (or at least make it less of a pain to delete old saves) and obviously improve the reliability of PSN.
I don't mind the indie focus at all, they need recognition for doing original things but we are playing a PS4, and none of these games show what the hardware can do. It's really a huge waste of the consoles abilities.
Another month of rubbish on ps+. Not a single game here appeals to me, I like many others are getting fed of all these indie titles. If I want to play games of that quality I will boot up my ZX spectrum at least that has some nostalgic value.
After almost 2 years of ps4 there is no excuse on Sonys part for the complete lack of AAA titles other than they don't want to pay developers for the software.
Microsoft must be laughing their heads off at Sony.
@fairliedaft It's not that Sony doesn't care about PS+ it's that the business practice is different, it's like comparing apples and oranges.
With PS3 PS+ wasn't nearly needed as much you didn't need it to play online games so Sony had to offer something to get people to buy it thus by offering AAA games people bought PS+ for the games alone
With PS4 though it's needed to play online so that alone is a reason for alot people to buy it. Thus they can hold back on the AAA games. In truth they don't even have to give you the games they are just being nice. They could just say hey you bought PS+ to play online games and we are giving you that.
Grow Home won? No way!
Im a little dissapointed Ultra Indie Sidescroll Pixelart Shooter Ultimate isnt on thereβ¦
Im good, Mad Max and MGS are out so no great loss.
Cue "you arent allowed to dislike whats offered" etc etc.
Will people please do there research on the history of Plus games for PS3 because some give you the impression that all it had were AAA blockbusters when in fact a lot of the time we were getting ports of Mega Drive games instead. It took two years before the bigger titles came along. Compare the first two years of Plus on PS3 and PS4 is practically night and day, all people should be interested in is "is the game good?" Instead of prejudging it for it's artstyle or genre but every month we go round the same bloody circles.
@ToGoodOfAPlaya Does every comment you make these days have to be some remark about people not liking something? Because that in itself is getting tiring.
Looks like a good line up, especially for my Vita. Looking forward to it!
Cool, supertime force and grow home, i will download these but does anyone want to finish Lara crofts temple and entwined for me? they are well and truly in my backlog already.
Seriously who cares about next months lineup - Metal Gear Solid 5 time people.
@adf86 I know right.
Im tired of it myself, but I find, as has been the case the last 4-5 times Ive commented, positively or not, that some can sit here going on about others being "a moaner" or "complainer" and thats absolutely okay to do but, as is made clear here, its not okay to point it out.
To be clear, its a jibe at those people because as it stands, Im getting more and more pissed off with constantly being accused of some nonsense or other and it being completely unacceptable to have a negative opinion.
@themcnoisy Honestly I care more about the line up then MGS5 but hey that's just me. Glad you are looking forward to it. I hope you enjoy it my friend.
@Tasuki Yup, you should buy it too. I like the look of the games, but I really do need to finish Lara croft temple run. And have that rocketleague match UK vs USA soon.
@fairliedaft fair point I remember PS3 every week decent aaa but ps 4 still new as new games come out old versions will find plus
@ToOGoodOfAPlaya I get it mate I do honest, it's just I really get fed up when people completely dismiss most indie games that come on Plus despite the fact that most of these games (including the ones coming) have scored highly on Metacritic and Steam users, it's like "if there good enough for them then how come it isn't good enough for us" it's much less of a problem on here but if you look on PS Blog or YouTube then the indie hate is very much real, hence why I said that we shouldn't judge games by there artstyles or genres till we've gave them a chance which Plus allows.
@themcnoisy Lol yeah no I am not an MGS fan. I enjoyed the first one on PS one and tried the second one and the third just couldn't get into them. I already have enough games that I want to play in my backlog that I don't need games I will never play there too.
@adf86
Nobody remember when PS+ sucked on PS3 because nobody was subscribing back then... people did not really begin subscribing until they started offering retail titles... the problem here is that on PS4 people are forced to subscribed independent of games offered because of it being required for online so Sony has no incentives to improve service as subscriptions will remain high no matter what
Best selection in months! 4 games I actually want.
I really wanted Armello, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to try Grow Home.
@adf86 I wont dismiss an Indy for being an Indy, but I absolutely have to like the look of something before I play it or I wont enjoy it at all, I have to already have an interest.
To put this in perspective:
I wasnt remotely interested in CoD AW so I didnt try it.
I was interested in The Witcher 3 and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I didnt have any interest in Rocket League at all but tried it anyway on the basis of it being something different, and I just didnt find any enjoyment in it at all.
I flat out do NOT enjoy pixel art games, I dont like how they look, regardless of dev cost.
Same goes with side scrollers, they dont interest me anymore, they havent for about 20 years.
As a point of fact, Im yet to play a game I dont have an initial interest in and enjoy it.
If Im not captured in the previews and so on then Im not giving it my time as I will not enjoy it.
That applies to any game, Indy or not.
@DualWielding But back then Sony would had every incentive to put better games on the service to get sub's, yet for 2 years the games offered weren't that great. People get so hung up on needing to sub to play online but more then likely the complainers are in the minority because as we know a lot of Xbox gamers have migrated over to PS4 and for over 6 years they were used to paying for a subscription and they never got a good number of games every month which add fantastic value to the subscription.
@ToOGoodOfAPlaya That's perfectly acceptable because you've explained why certain genres of artstyles don't agree with you. It's when people make smart Alec comments like "I didn't buy a PS4 to play Pixel games" that gets on my nerves because for me it shows a lack of respect to the developers.
@adf86 I get where youre coming from.
I do laugh when some folk say they "dont like Indy games".
Im guessing they didnt like DmC or Minecraft then π.
And when someone then says why they dont enjoy certain games or genres, and give a valid reason some people feel it neccessary to bring them down like its not ok to dislike something.
Lets all just agree that all games have a place regardless of personal tastes and none are exempt from criticisms as ling as its actually constructive, not "its trash because its trash".
@ToOGoodOfAPlaya True, no game is above criticism. Personally, I just find the fetishization of retail titles a bit annoying, especially when they're referred to as "real" games, implying that smaller downloadable titles are somehow illegitimate regardless of quality.
In the end though, it's a personal preference. Some people are missing out and I feel kind of sorry for them, There's lots of creativity, originality and fun to be found in smaller titles if one is willing to give them a chance, while when it comes to AAA bigger isn't always better.
I'm a new Vita owner (mid July)- and also took the plunge with PS Plus. So far, so good for me. I'll bet I've saved $20-$30 with sales, plus I've gotten about $75 in free games- this since July.
