The sun has set on another not-so glorious summer week, in which the weather has been temperamental and the gaming news sporadic. Still, at least we have a new issue of WAYP to pad out our features section, eh? Here's what the team – with a few new faces – will be playing this weekend.
Sammy Barker, Editor
I'm having a fantastic time with many of the PlayStation 4's digital games at the moment. Everybody's Gone to the Rapture is top of my list this weekend, but I'm also having a grand old time with TorqueL, which has proved a real pleasant surprise.
Robert Ramsey, Associate Editor
No doubt some of you will want to give me a kicking for this, but I think I'll be playing Destiny this weekend. With The Taken King gradually getting closer – and the fact that I'll probably be the one reviewing it – I need to make sure that my new Guardian is in tip top form, and that means grinding until my DualShock 4's triggers fall off. Don't judge me – I'm already lost to the void.
Ben Stead, News Reporter
I'll be continuing my Rocket League training, which has yet to kick into an 80s style montage where I actually become any good. Writing an article on Persona 4 has made me yearn to see those characters again so I'll probably be falling into that 80 hour time sink yet again.

With only limited time for gaming this weekend, I'm thinking of replaying Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes ahead of the imminent release of The Phantom Pain. Since it only takes a couple of hours to complete it'll help me get in the mood for some tactical espionage action, though having watched all of the demos for the next instalment I think that it's going to be a bit of a departure that may not be to the taste of all Metal Gear Solid fans.

While there are an obscene amount of games coming my way in the next few weeks, I don't think that I've quite had my fill of Everybody's Gone to the Rapture just yet. Engrossing and fantastic, I couldn't be happier with that game. And while I've neglected my Xbox One for a solid seven or eight months, Rare Replay is more than enough of a reason for me to give Microsoft's console some love this weekend, too.
Jade Sayers, Reviewer
This weekend I'll mostly be playing Persona 3 Portable, edging into the closing moments and gearing up for the final boss battle. During my P3P breaks, I'll be jumping into LEGO Jurassic World, putting in the hours to get my 50th Platinum.
Jamie O'Neill, Reviewer
Last weekend I completed Limbo, so I'll continue sifting through my latest stockpile of PlayStation Plus goodies from August 2015's Instant Game Collection. I realise that feedback regarding Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris recommends playing its story in co-op with friends, but I'm happy to raid tombs in its Egyptian underworld all by my lonesome.
Joey Thurmond, Reviewer
After having a friend over from Missouri for the past two weeks and now worrying about my first step into pursuing a Masters degree in the coming weeks, I'm going to spend my penultimate weekend of no school finishing up Flower, followed by equally soothing and relaxing (not really, though) matches of Rocket League. Oh, and Ramsey, are you man enough to 1v1 me, mate? I'll be waiting in my blue racing car.
Sam Brooke, Reviewer
This weekend I'll be tearing my hair out in Gauntlet: Slayer Edition, which is devilishly difficult at times. I'm gathering my friends and we'll be playing through as much of it as possible before one of us has a stress-related heart attack.
Simon Fitzgerald, Reviewer
This weekend I will be facing Smaug the dragon in LEGO The Hobbit. I will also be playing both Episodes 3 and 4 of Life Is Strange, and if I have any spare time between those I may play the PlayStation Plus goodies: Tomb Raider and the Temple of Osiris, CastleStorm, Stealth Inc 2: A Game of Clones, God of War: Ascension, and Sound Shapes.
Stephen Tailby, Reviewer
After seeing Everybody's Gone to the Rapture garner some impressive reviews, you'll find me trotting through an abandoned 80s Shropshire village this weekend. If I get any other gaming time, then maybe, just maybe, I'll actually get round to playing some more Batman: Arkham Knight. I will finish that game eventually, I promise.
That's our quota of hot air consumed for the day, so now it's your turn. What will you be playing this weekend? Dig out your DualShock in the comments section below.

After reading this I've just discovered that I'm in the minority when it comes to not liking Everybody's Gone to the Rapture
not sure, might catch up on my unfinished RPG's Tales of Xillia and Star Ocean the Last Hope -International-
@Anchorsam_9 I wouldn't say you're in the minority - definitely seems mixed from what I've seen. To be honest, I expected nothing less!
Bloodborne , pes 2016 demo , infamous ss
(also maybe try another games)
and playing (testing) the game which our team is developing
thanks
I just got Max Payne 3 on P.C. so that's me this weekend. Seriously top notch game. Might play some more Binding of Isaac on vita, just one more run (screw you Mom!). Really though it's all just killing time till 1st september. MGS5 hype hype.
BEN STEAD - Writing an article on Persona 4 has made me yearn to see those characters again so I'll probably be falling into that 80 hour time sink yet again.
Where's this article? Wouldn't mind reading it.
I'm finally gonna grind out of driveclub later on route to a top 2500 team place (its tough but we will do it) and hopefully knock in a few sound shapes trophies in death mode.
Language -Tasuki-
Saints Row 4: Re-Electred, I think I might go for the plat.
DeadPool
The Order: 1886. Gonna plat . There's nothing else to do.
The WalkingDead- 400 days
Playing some Arkham Knight
The witcher 3 superpatched, galak z and a bit of Pes 2015, aiming at the champions league with my Pro Vercelli before the 2016 comes out!!!
Trying to 100% mgs: ground zeros before mgs 5 and im playing though mgs: peace walker again, already done mgs 3.
Still trying to plow through The Last of Us Remastered before I buy any new games for my PS4. Anyone have any suggestions as to what to play next?
@EXP bloodborne is a must have for any ps4 owner.... The witcher if you like wrpg too...
@EXP check the summer sales on the shop, it s plenty of aaa discounted titles
I'll be trying to get my Titan up to level 35 in Destiny, and playing some online matches in Rocket League. Maybe I'll finally play some Entwined or Ether One also.
Destiny, Virtues Last Reward, Everybody's Gone To The Rapture something else probably too.
PS4: Dark Souls 2
Wii U: Splatoon (new Rainmaker mode)
Xbox One: Rare Replay
3DS: Etrian Odyssey Untold 2- Fafnir Knight
Vita: [nothing]
Devil May Cry 3 HD and Assassin's Creed: Unity for me, with maybe a match or two of AC:Brotherhood's MP. I might play some Sherlock Holmes if the mood hits me.
@epicdude12302 35?
Destiny, shadow warrior and bravely default.
@JaxonH
I always make lists like these and then end up playing Rocket League all weekend
I've been playing Galak - Z & Rocket League. Both great fun.
I'm playing telltales game of thrones after completing telltales tales from the borderlands episode 3. I bought them both in the summer sale. I'm liking them both so far.
Btw I can already predict ign's review for tftb episode 4. It will be a 6 with the review concluding with "it's the 4th episode of a telltale game, what did you expect?"
Destiny and Bravely Default
Splatoon (Wii U) - Played a few hours of the new Rainmaker mode, and I don't like it that much. It could've just been the maps I was playing on, but I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I thought I would.
Paper Mario (Wii U VC) - First time playing this game, and I'm already up to chapter 2. It's a lot of fun.
I have relatives visiting from out of state tomorrow, so I probably won't have much time for any other games this weekend.
Be playing some elder scrolls online but I'm feeling it's becoming a bit of a grind at the mo so might be getting into some battlefield 4, ready for the release of the night maps in September!
Witcher 3 for sure this weekend! Maybe a tiny bit of Smash Bros, Majora's Mask 3D, Everyone's Gone to the Rapture, and Bravely Default. My weekends have been weird lately. Every time I plan on just sitting at home and playing video games all weekend long, I end up going out instead.
Not really sure, but I might try to continue a Metal Gear binge. I beat my pacifist run of Snake Eater months ago, and I've been trying to play Portable Ops, but just haven't felt like it. I'll find something to do.
More dark souls 2 for me. Need to keep in shape for when 3 lands. May go back to demon, dark souls one and bloodborne before it releases
@Storytime7 I'm not a Nintendo fan as of lately, but I can't say enough good things about how much I love paper mario! If you like it, definitely play the sequel, a thousand year door for GameCube.
Third weekend in a row with Final Fantasy X HD. 22 hours in at this point and, besides a few minor complaints, I'm absolutely loving it.
Sonic Unleashed (PS3): playing this to satisfy my sonic craving lately...and yes, I am in the minority and love this game lol
Ratchet and Clank A Crack in Time (PS3): finishing off the game; going for platinum!
NHL 15 (PS4): bought it new for $10, and with how many modes that are missing, I figured that was a his price to pick it up.
Destiny (PS4): also got this new for $10, can't wait to finally get into this game! Watching ppl play it on twitch has made me want this game
@hYdeks I already have a copy of TTYD ready to be played, but I wanted to beat Paper Mario first. Before getting it on the virtual console, I had only played through the prologue. I love the Mario & Luigi series and Super Mario RPG, so I figured it was time to finally play the Paper Mario games.
Warframe because im a ninja and in my village. Hidden in void we play free. Im caught in the experience and just think its a better game overall compared to destiny! (szzl)
Borderlands 2 and MGS: ground zeroes in anticipation of MGS V TPP
Playing MGS3, my comfort food game (ssnake eaterrrr)😉
Hockey season has started again in the UK so between that and the football my gaming time is reduced that being said I finished God of War 3 remaster last week so it could finally be time to play me some Shadow of Mordor if i get a few hours tomorrow... (had it since Christmas but just not got around to playing it yet!).
@EXP Dying Light
Wii U:
Splatoon
Fire Emblem
PS4:
Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward
Vita:
XBlaze: Code Embryo
Persona 3 Portable
Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;birth1
3DS:
Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold
Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker
Good times ;3
Well I am not playing anything this weekend till I get my Far Far Away trophy in Rocket League.
I have just become addicted to ESO after having sit on my shelf for nearly two months collecting dust. I had played it once when I first got it, but I didn't really enjoy it.
I had decided to trade it, but before I did I thought that I should give it one last try.
That was a week ago and I haven't stopped playing it since. I now love it!
The Last of Us: Remastered multiplayer. Picked up a digital download code cheap on Amazon ($13.99). I never got into the multiplayer on the PS3 version, but now I can't get enough. Add me if you want to play together.
Battlefield Hardline on PS4. My first ever Battlefield and enjoying it!
[Nothing on Wii U, Vita or 3DS]
Rocket league, witcher, and guilty gear xrd couch play.
Kingdom Hearts 1.5: Final Mix (PS3). I loved this game on PS2, but I'm enjoying it a lot more now; seeking out for trophies made me realize that there are lots of optional objectives I didn't even know about.
I had a 6 hour blast on GTAV with the crew. I forgot how fun this game can be.
Like others on here, I may just dip into Ground Zeroes again to hype me up for The Phantom Pain.
A Platinumed Rapture brings me to Level 23. Going to run around Gotham for a while and who knows?? Maybe I will Gear my Metal up for a few as well.
I almost forgot about that one for a few. I just opened up the PS4 menu to display ALL games instead 15 because some of my stuff is buried and I forget I have a game sometimes. I hope they find a better solution in the 3.0 update. Or the near future. A grid view would help. We ask for FOLDERS and Sony gives us ONE folder.
@Anchorsam_9 Well if it males you feel better, I am right there with ya bud. I appreciate the quality of the "game", but I cannot find the fun in it. Still think "games" like these should be labeled interactive media, lol.
I am sure I will catch he'll for this, but how could you not mention that Xur was selling Gjallarhorn this weekend? For many this single gun created hundreds of hours of grinding, and there it is for sale, ready for the taking. Guess I'll have to buy one for my secondary character. Other than destiny I will probably TRY to get into ESO, although I really just want a new elder scrolls game. Not digging the visuals in this game what so ever. Also hoping armello pulls out the vote, but seems like grow home is a lock to win.
@SonyInfinity Whatever peoples opinions of Destiny, I basically use Gameinformer for any Destiny info I need, the staff there all seem crazy for it, much to the displeasure of some commenters!
You know has gone truly mainstream when the selling of a particular weapon on said game creates a social media firestorm, much like what happened this past friday. I think Bungie is doing a great job evolving this game and I look forward for what is to come.
I'm currently playing Alice: Madness Returns (PS3), just finished Part 26: West Peak Prison Village.
I got the plat on Driveclub and started Bastion. Played it on iPad years ago and even better for PS4. Supergiant games are one of my favourite "indie" developers atm. Transistor was epic!
