The PlayStation Network's going to be undergoing some scheduled maintenance next week, Sony has announced. Starting at 04:30AM BST and 20:30PM PST on Tuesday the 18th August - or Monday the 17th August for you Americans - it's unlikely to disrupt many users in our neck of the woods, although we can't say the same for our readers across the pond. The maintenance will last around 90 minutes.
As always, though, the whole network won't be down for this period - some services will simply be taken offline. In this case, you won't be able to access account management, PlayStation Video, or the PlayStation Store, so make sure that you've got all of your business in order beforehand.
Does this maintenance have any effect on your plans? Do some panic buying in the comments section below.

Ill just play Need For Speed then, oh wait…
Whenever I'm away for business for a long period of time Sony's scheduled maintenance really bugs me. But last time I came home I realized how incredibly spoiled I've gotten when I couldn't play for hours and hours because of "load shedding", scheduled power cuts
Learned a valuable lesson or two that day: there's lots to do besides gaming and South Africa is doomed
I think it's interesting that people complain so much about PSN's network stability. I've been playing on a PS3 (and now PS4) since 2007 and other than the few times 'hackers' messed things up for us, I've found their network to be more stable than my internet provider.
@glassmusic me to. I haven't had nearly the amount of trouble others claim to have.
@Boerewors With my luck eskom will start loudshedding as soon as the maintenance ends
@The_Great_WmR
Hahaha, either then or when you just stocked up on meat in the freezer
The day before Black Ops III's beta. Wonder if that's the cause.
One of these days i look forward to a "psn 2.0" type of announcement. A sort of hey we changed our servers, revamped the interface, increased download speeds, improved the experience between the services we offer style announcement. Theyve gotten infinitely better over the years, but so much of the overall experience feels early 360 xbox live in a lot of ways. My biggest issue i have other than download/upload speeds, is the advertisements in the psstore. You know, those trailers you click to watch but no button on the controller makes it full screen. That drives me absolutely batty.
@glassmusic
Sounds like you need a better isp.
When you're paying for a service like psn anything less than 100% uptime is a failure. Maybe 100% uptime is unrealistic but we should be able to measure psn uptime in ".9's".

@glassmusic Yep, with you 100% there. i think it's a great service and a damn site more reliable that Virgin! For what we are charged I think the level of service is excellent. In relative terms we're getting a Gold/Platinum service for basically the cost of a Bronze level. Some businesses I work with would love the same level of reliability from their ISP.
@stupidget
Maybe I take my isp for granted (Zen Internet). Not had any downtime in over 4 years - not that I know about anyway. Just a shame it's down a mile long copper cable (bt) so I'm limited to 5mbps max.
