Sony's proving a particularly fierce competitor in the UK, as it refuses to let Microsoft get a foothold. You may have seen our story last week on the PlayStation 4's success in Britain, but the Japanese giant's not resting on its laurels. It launched a series of new bundles over the weekend, which spurred PlayStation software up the charts.
Indeed, the likes of FIFA 15, The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited, and Battlefield Hardline all enjoyed massive bumps on the back of these promotions. First-party titles such as God of War III: Remastered, The Order: 1886, and Bloodborne also rallied – the latter two of which re-entered the best sellers list in 23rd and 24th position respectively.
Despite all of this, it was a relatively quiet week for new releases, with LEGO Jurassic World reclaiming the top spot just ahead of Batman: Arkham Knight and Grand Theft Auto V. What have you been spending your summer money on of late? Cough up in the comments section below.

I'm surprised how well PGA tour is selling, seems there is a non- Tiger Woods market for it after all. I really thought the combination TW and EA made people try out the game, like TW attracted lots of non golf players back in the day, but I really thought sales would plummet with Rory on the cover. And it even isn't a good game!
When will EA start making Rugby games again? I just don't understand why they, or 2k, aren't jumping on Rugby like a Springbok on a rooster tbh. The RWC is a huge event and all we get is some lousy PS2 looking games. If American Football is selling like hotcakes, surely Rugby must be able to sell just as much.
@Boerewors The problem is that there isn't much of a market for rugby. It would sell okay in the UK, Australia, and Africa - but compare to Madden which is one of the US' best selling franchises, and it's clear why they don't bother.
@get2sammyb
The RWC is the 3rd biggest multi- day sportevent in the world after the FIFA WC and the Olympics, so I can't believe there isn't a market for it. They don't have to annualize it, but if they bring out a rugby game every two years and give roster updates via DLC they must be able to sell 3 million copies of it. And although the games aren't the same obviously, lots of the Madden psysics and the specific tweaks to the engine can be recycled. Furthermore I think the cost for licesing will be very doable, certainly the first few years.
I always hoped 2k would go after a Rugby franchise when EA screwed them out of the NFL rights. With their knowledge of sportsgames and with the same dedication to giving people what they want as they've shown with the NFL2k series, I think it could be a franchise that's worth the investment. Although I do agree that it has the same problem as cricket does: the amount of fans of the sport isn't a good predictor for the money you'll make out of it.
Errrrrr, Rugby? Hard to believe that a big publisher would try a rugby game, but I guess I could see a smaller AA style game gain a little momentum. Even still, ......rugby.
