Fallout 4's Xbox One product page - yes, we know - states that the digital version of the upcoming open world title weighs in at just over 28GB, which means that you can expect the game to take up around the same amount of space on the PlayStation 4.
It's a hefty chunk of hard drive, but we've definitely seen worse. In fact, Bethesda's always been reasonably good at keeping the file sizes of its releases down to a respectable minimum, and even though Fallout 4's now apparently the publisher's biggest, many probably still expected something weightier, especially since the game's got so much voiced dialogue.
Will you be able to squeeze this one onto your console, or will you have to drop the axe on some of your other titles? Tell us what's up for deletion in the comments section below.

Wow that's awesome I'm surprised I was expecting something over 40GB I can fit this now I just need to know how much starwars is if that's quite big then ill have to say good bye to evolve "You are a fun game I just haven't had the motivation to play you you will be missed"
I remember when I first installed Skyrim on my Xbox 360, I was really surprised to see that it was only 3.5gb's. I think Oblivion was around 5gb's plus. Thats a whole 1.5gb's larger for an older game.
I was also surprised that The Witcher 3 was only 30gb's as I was expecting it to be atleast 40gb's, which of course it now is after all the dlc and updates.
To be honest, im a little sick of my HDD constantly running out of space. Its crazy that a 1tb HDD isn't really that large anymore.
I would recommend that anyone who is thinking about an upgrade should opt for a 2tb HDD instead.
I put a 1TB HDD in my ps4 and I'm still running out of space. Would be nice if you could run games from and external drive as I have a few knocking around.
My 1tb has like 180gb left, but I don't buy every game. And I'd still probably buy a proprietary Sony PS external drive if they made one.
I don't look forward to the day when all discs contain 1GB of data and then we have a 50GB Day 1 "patch", but I know it's coming. That DA:I GOTY edition disc is heading in that direction. Next gen is really starting to look like DL only, even though I still don't think the US network is ready for it.
I was going to DL and play Legend of Kay the other night - it's on sale on Wii U for $12.49 this week - but when I saw it was 6GB I said forget it, didn't feel like waiting over an hour for the DL (I get about 1GB every 10 minutes) and then the install.
DL only will be a great boon for the companies though - not only will they be able to sell videogames at disc prices w/o the manufacturing, storage, shipping and retailors getting their cut - but even better people will line up to pay early for the pre-DL so it's ready to play Day 1 w/ a tiny unlock key. That's pure profit directly into their accounts long before the game even launches And no Gamefly/Redbox rentals or 2nd hand market means everybody has to pay full price. Bet they can't wait.
oh fallout4, my dear sweet dear. you can have ALL of my gigs my love. seriously though i might have to get rid of something, not sure what exactly. SUPER SERIOUS QUESTION: if i want to upgrade to a 2Tb HD can i successfully transfer the PT demo? if not then im going to need to buy a new ps4 which really sucks but there is NO way im going to lose that. has anyone done this? does konami havce a way of not allowing us to transfer it over?
I'm surprised. I was expecting 50GB. That's what most new games seem to take these days.
@Gmork___ yes if you follow directions you can keep your pt demo. I upgraded to a 2tb and can still play pt on mine.
Wow only 30 GB? 😯 I was expecting more. Hopefully we won't be disappointed. I was expecting closer to a 50 GB game. Now I am worried. But I guess there is always a chance of some expansions and hopefully those will be good.
That's quite small compared to some (looking at you Batman). I'm reluctant to upgrade my hard drive due to having PT but it hasn't been too bad so far as I don't have the time to play many games at once so simply delete those I've finished, it's not ideal though and I'm tempted to get a second PS4 and just play different games on each one
@REALROBLAW Their is no reason to worry. Bathesda are really good at getting the file size down on there games. Skyrim was a top game full of things to do and that was a smaller file than Oblivion. Skyrim was 3.5gb and Oblivion was around 5gb. Oblivion was also older buy a few years.
@REALROBLAW
I'd say the file size isnt necessarily an indication of the size & scope of the game itself, some companies compress their games more economically than others.
GOTY calling it. Download size isn't always a true representation of the size and scope of the game. This game is near guaranteed to be good.
I'm pretty good for space currently and quite a few of the indies I've downloaded don't take too much room. But to be honest, with the amount that we can expect from Fallout 4, then I think 30GB is pretty damn good!
Anything been mentioned about ps4 version getting mods?...im kind of guessing it will, just they were keeping it quiet to make it look like its an xb1 "thing" given that fallout 4 was being promoted quite heavily on xb1 at e3(even tho the fallout 4 demo during ms presser was exactly the same as the main Bethesda presentation...almost word for word)
