Oh no! Oh no! Batten down the hatches, adopt the foetal position, and keep out of every PlayStation owner's way β because next month's PlayStation Plus update really is a bad one. There's been plenty of criticism pointed at Sony's service over the past 18 months or so, but we've always felt that there have been redeeming qualities to the selections. This time, though, we're struggling to find one.
Complimentary games are complimentary games at the end of the day, but this is a pretty shocking selection we have to say. Super Meat Boy is the highlight, but it's already been available on other platforms for years. That'll be available on the PlayStation 4 and Vita, as will Broken Age β the Double Fine developed adventure game.
Then you've got an obligatory puzzle platformer in Unmechanical Extended for the PS4 and PS3, rhythm game Kickbeat for the PS3 and Vita, and Kung-Fu Rabbit for the PS3 and Vita. Rounding things out is the PS3 version of Chariot. And that's all she wrote. Please, please, please don't shoot the messenger in the comments section below.

I am glad I do not have PS plus. This month is terrible.Hope for all members that the blow us away in November.
and this is partly why i dont pay for PS+ Still.. only thing thats partly tempted me is to actualy play some games online..
No they are not even trying, now they do not even have the "good metacritic score" excuse
Well I'll give Super Meat Boy and Broken Age a go. They fell nicely into the category of I'll give them-a-go if they come on PS+ for me.
@DualWielding They didn't even post the full list on the US PS Blog!
but...SMB, Broken Age and Kickbeat are great.
dont see the problem
I give this month a 2.5/10.0.At least it is free that the only good thing.
Meh, I've wanted to play Broken Age for a while and have a 'to-play' list that could probably last me until Jan/Feb at least, so not upset personally. It's not a great selection though, gotta admit that.
See I'm actually interested in broken age I love those type of games. Bit I won't re subscribe for this . If Sony couldn't do anything great for their 20th anniversary then we can officially say that the IGC is dead and buried!
@andrew20
They won't. They know there's going to be new PS4 owners and they want people to actually buy games so they're not going to give away stuff like The Last of Us or inFamous Second Son or GTA V. It would be nice to get at least one of the really good indie games, but like with the major retail releases, why give it away for free when new and existing owners are willing to pay? Only thing Plus owners can hope for is some good sales. I actually have been impressed with some of Sony's sales over the last year so there's that. But I have mostly been disappointed with the 'free games.' MS has done a better job in that category this year, imo.
@Gamer83
Even sales are not as good as they used to be
@get2sammyb because they're ashamed of it I think. I noticed on the eu blog he didn't bother we 4 out of the 6 games! Says it all. Sony are resting on their laurels. I hope the xbox starts shifting some units soon.
Funny how NA is too ashamed to even post the full list in the blog post.
All in all not a bad month for me though.
I like Point and click style games so I've really been wanting to play Broken Age,The only reason I havenβt bought it yet is because I thought it be a Plus game at some point. As a game I would have actually paid money for this alone makes it worth the month for me.
Meat boy is a game I've owned for years on PC and I think N is a better game so Meh.
I own Unmechanical on PC so Meh.
Kick beat looks to be a decent rhythm game so a half point for that.
I feel the same way about Chariot that I do about Broken Age so two points for that.
Kung-Fu Rabbit just looks like trash though.Probably would have been better to have one less game then have this devalue the whole line up.
Still a pretty good value for just over $4 for the month.
@Gamer83 I just wonder if the success of the service has started to bite them in the bum. Maybe pubs are more reluctant to give their games away to millions upon millions of subscribers, like you suggest. Also, despite the increase in income, perhaps it's becoming prohibitively expensive to secure certain games.
Not sure, but I do think it's time for them to start having a rethink. It's clear that people aren't satisfied anymore, and as I said in the article, even I can't find a way to spin this one - even though I do think a couple of the games are worth a look.
At least there are some great games to buy this month...
I don't get the problem. It's great for single platform holders. Vita owners get four titles, the other get three. Broken Age, Super Meat Boy and Chariot are all great. Haven't played the others, so can't comment on them. Don't forget anyone who hasn't had a PC or Xbox are basically getting SMB for free on release day and can finally see what the fuss is about. Quit yer whining!
Zzzzzz Zzzzzz zzzzz
@get2sammyb
They could still give a first party AAA once in a while
@DualWielding Better these than Knack.
Three games have double trophy lists for different platforms, so that's nine games for trophy hunters.
@Gamer83 With Battlefront coming out in November I doubt that the free games will be worth any good. With Starwars Battlefront coming out I am sure their PS+ sales will go up for nothing more then Battlefront fans wanting to play the game online. So Sony won't have to put much thought into the free games.
Ha.
I've got to be honest, PushSquare is starting to editorialise too much. Sometimes I wonder if what I'm reading has been written by Kent Brockman. You already have your soapbox articles where you can give you two cents - maybe you should air your opinions in the right place?
I don't understand... Meatboy, Broken Age, Unmechanical and Kickbeat are all 8 rated games!!! Chariot is also really good and have enjoyed playing it with my son for PS4. I own 3 platforms and don't have any of the other ones so this is great for me. Especially happy bout Broken Age. Xbox get to share 3 games between 2 systems. We get 6 and 4 of them are cross buy so its pretty good value to me.
I think they set themselves up for fail. Giving AAA games 'away' (you pay subscription, of course) every month must be a big challenge, which is why they don't do it. The AAA is the expectation anyway. I think they should commit to a great game once a 2-3 months and indie/older ones every month.
XBOX1 - The Walking dead full season 1
PS4 - Crap
That's this months selection guys.
Crikey, as reserved as I am about the freebies each month, this is a poor show. Had Super Meat Boy on 360 at the end of 2010!
I picked up that Kung Fu Rabbit as an after thought when having a pound or two left in my PSN account.. It is truly s****!!!
Never mind, least I wont be distracted from MGS:V, PES, Witcher 3 and Batman...
If you folks seriously think that they will stop charging for the service just because you don't get to have your triple A titles each and every month, you're an entitled unexperienced human beings.
Stop being a drama queen.
My ps+ subscription ran out at the beginning of September and I'm thinking about waiting for some better games to resubscribe. These aren't terrible, just not good enough for me.
That is one of the [worst] Plus lineups I've ever seen. I didn't expect soemthig amazing, but this failed to meet my expectations by a lot.
@Slampog No one said that though.
Come on Jaz, you know better than that - Robert
Bloody peeping peep!!! Peep u Sony!!!!
Let's not go there thanks -Tasuki-
Id say for me personally its a slightly better month than September...ps plus could always be better(same goes for pretty much everything else) but ive never had any real complaints about it, my sub is renewed automatically each year, i dont even realise the money has been taken until i see my bank statements and i share to my kids ps4 so they get playstation plus as well...2 ps4,ps3,ps vita for Β£40 a year...
Noooooooooooooo
Could be better, could be worse. I'm quite interested to try some of the games being offered so I'm happy.
Works for me, Super Meat Boy is great, really wanted it on PS3 last gen. Broken Age always interested me and I nearly bought it on release. Gotta say its better than last month, for me at least.
@fluggy @teknium_ Amen. If you told me when I was growing up that one day people would complain for getting a Tim Schafer adventure game for next to nothing, in addition to five other games, I'd probably call you crazy. I've already got Broken Age, which is amazing, but I'm looking quite forward to trying out Super Meat Boy and Kickbeat.
I've gotten to the point now where i expect nothing I'll like on the PS Plus free games... Atleast when a half decent one comes along I'll be surprised. Surely they could secure the likes of;Bf4, AC, Wolfenstein, Tomb Raider, Watch dogs, shadow Warrior etc? They surely aren't making much of some of them now, most of them you can pick up for less than Β£10...
@Jaz007 haha I gotta say I am surprised if you are using the word gay as an insult, I'm actually wondering if you meant something else. C'mon brooooo not cool. Reminds me of that South Park episode. 'Something everybody hates...?' 'Naggers!'
Wow...it's really bad this time =/
Kickbeat is actually pretty great in my opinion.
@get2sammyb what's wrong with getting broken age this month? Broken age is a solid game and now that you have to pay for online.psn is down on a regular basis you should be more upset about that then what free games you get, you should be more thankful. I traded my ps4 for a gtx 970 I will get another ps4 when it gets something I want to play.
I would have bought SMB anyway, so I at least broke even. Broken Age isn't my thing and I only ever liked one of Schafers games (Brutal Legend, and shut up. Taste is subjective).
It's not the worst lineup ever, but dear god it's by the numbers. It's almost embarrassing, and I think they know that.
@sradmatt come on mate, his choice of words was poor but I don't think he meant anything by it. No need to resort to name calling.
On one side of the coin this is the worst lineup PS+ has had since I joined 2-3 years ago.
On the flipside I've got so many great games to play on my PS consoles I really am happy to not add more to my growing backlog. Might actually give me more of a chance to dwindle the backlog down a bit in fact!
@slampog who has even said that?
I havent read a single comment where this is the case!
@get2sammyb
@andrew20 why these are better then the junk we have gotten of late or Septembers stuff was utter crap . both these games are amazing so there not your thing well if they gave COD and GTA i would say that was the worst ever as i hate those games they are made for mindless children in my opinion and take no skill.
@godslayer1975 I'M BEING ENTITLED AND NOT A REAL GAMER OVER HERE AND YOU CAN'T STOP ME LOL.
@Johnnycide maybe so yes, I apologise for my bad choice of words, but using a term like gay for something which isn't good is far from acceptible in 2015 π
@sradmatt no worries, long as we can all be nice.
Wake me up in November, hopefully they will do better.
I'm sure others feel the same way, but do we really want so called tripple AAA's? I for one would have already bought a large title if it were any good. If I havn't, I doubt I'd see my way through any PS+ AAA releases anyway due to my back log. Naw, I'd rather have newly or recently released indies that might have gone under my radar for the time being. I guess if you missed out on a few of the bigger releases in the past or didn't buy them for whatever reason I understand...
It breaks my heart a little to see the hostile reaction to Broken Age.
Are they really complimentary? We have to pay for PS+ and without that we don't get them. I think we're within our rights to show a little bit of disappointment. Someone like me who plays online once in a blue moon is defo gonna start looking at whether it's worth paying for ps+ right now!
@fluggy @Jaz007 @teknium_ @DrClayman @kyleforrester87 @al_b_614 @Johnnycide @godslayer1975 @sradmatt @Wesker @viciousarcanum
this is the problem
October 2013
http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2013/09/17/playstation-plus-in-october-far-cry-3-street-fighter-x-tekken-lead-the-way/
Which year was better?
That's the problem.
Problem?
@kyleforrester87 See, I totally agree with the Triple A thing, Im the same, I buy the big games I like the look of, and leave those I dont, as I will flst out not enjoy it.
Now with that said, there is very little difference with many of the Indies that are being offered, they all follow a similar format, art style etc etc.
And certainly from a personal standpoint this is the problem.
For example, I dont like those rogue likes, have never liked them, and every one Ive trief Ive hated.
Yet they still offer the exact same formula, with few exceptions.
Id rather see something completely different entirely, but there are very few of those in the Indie scene.
@themcnoisy think maybe we used to get a bit spoilt. That's a beast of a lineup, and I remember thinking it was a bit rubbish at the time due to Giana sisters.
Hindsight is a beautiful thing!
@themcnoisy we were spoilt rotten for 2 years I agree. It doesn't have to go back to that epicness they must find a middle ground even if it was just 1 big game every other month.
If we still don't see black flag come up a week before the new one and say next batman etc then we know they're no longer advertising their new games.
Eh, I'm okay with a month not being so hot. I've already been gifted with COUNTLESS blessings due to PlayStation Plus and have barely scratched the surface of the free games I've gotten from it that I want to play (worth every penny), but hey, at least Broken Age is a good choice! Super Meat Boy is all right, but as for the rest...yeah, not that great. lol
By the way, @get2sammyb, "foetal position?" Isn't it fetal?
looks up strange spelling
Dang it, British spellings of words puzzle me sometimes.
Doesn't sound THAT bad to me, but it's nothing to get excited over for sure.
@themcnoisy well, I didn't download or play either of the offerings in your link as I wasn't really interested in them at launch! This months will each be getting a go, though.
I do get what you're saying, bigger titles would be nice -even if only so you feel a bit more confident about what you're paying for - but I still find myself enjoying these smaller give aways too. I've no doubt we'll be seeing an improvement in a year or two. I mean, a year ago ps4 'had no games!', remember?
Its actually a great list off games. Games that i would not normally buy, but could be fun. My vita is going to be really happy.
@godslayer1975 I do not like COD or GTA I am in the platformers and role playing games.
@godslayer1975 I also never played these games or the cod or GTA games. But at least they are free and I do not have plus so why am I here and talking.
I can play Super Meat Boy again
Well I gues this the problem when Sony pushes it's love for indies too much. Either that or they were just lazy to give us good quality Ps Plus games. Just what's happening with Sony recently?Because it feels as if they aren't even trying. Atleast Microsoft are doing something.
I've never found a platform to play Meat Boy on that had a satisfactory controller, so I'll happily play it on Vita for the first time properly.
Also I don't really mind 'paltry' selections on PS Plus, but I do miss the days of Sony giving us Bioshock Infinite like two months after release.
And oh dear, this comment section looks like it has gone places...
This reminds me I really gotta cancel my PS+ account π
Aw. I refuse to go out and buy Black Flag at this point because I keep expecting it every month.
Well Broken Age is actually good. It's one of those games where the politics and nerd drama around it may make it seem worse, the whole Kickstarter thing, split into two episodes and all that. It's like Mighty No 9 - if that had come out on the 3DS or Wii U with no real fanfare and not from being Kickstarted, everyone would say it was a great little game even though it was only average. In this reality, though, it's probably going to be hated far and wide and used as an example for SOMETHING BAD for some time to come.
Anyway, Broken Age. The problem is that I bought it on PS4 a few months ago, so that's pretty annoying. The rest is just terrible. I'd feel less disgusted if they replaced those games with videos of my grandparents having sex.
Lol I went to watch the October PSPlus lineup video on YouTube and it was only 2 games ....Meatboy and Broken age
This is why I only report when it is necessary. As a last resort.
Let us talk about PS plus.
How many comments! People love a good moan. But we are paying for a service so I can understand it.
Last month was awful. Even grow home was bad in my opinion. This month is justified just for broken age. Do you people even know that game? It's great, really.
Oh a game with poop jokes and poop, thanks sony.
Edited because I hadn't seen Shogunrok's post.
I've nothing further to say apart from DAMN SON THAT SUPER MEAT BOY LOOKS PRETTY SWEET.
@RawShark: Gotta say I agree. This month is hardly that bad, we've had worse. Sure SMB has been available for ages, but it's still a truly exceptional platformer. Broken Age is fine for free, Unmechanical is good, Chariot is pretty good, and I've heard OK things about Kickbeat. I'd say the month we get Tower of Guns was worse.
But in terms of opinions, I'm fine with sharing your two cents in the article, but when the article is just news, it seems unnecessary to be so overly critical.
@themcnoisy Oct 2013? Wasn't that 1 month before PS4 launched requiring PS+ for online play? Coincidence?
@JaxonH I'd be seriously afraid for Sammy's health if there were ever a PS+ update that you did find to be bad. Though personally I'd happily take Chariot on Wii U for $5 (one months PS+ cost.)
Gees I have an afternoon off from work and decided to get in some game time and everyone goes crazy. :/ Not cool guys. From this point on I will be deleting any more comments about said subject and people will earn a vacation from the site . You have been warned from @ShogunRok and now me.
Thanks for understanding.
@Tasuki you should put in mandatory in the vacation part. Now this is what you get with PS plus well at least it is free.
All I hear is alot of whining from ppl on here. I'll be getting Super Meat Boy, Broken Age, Chariot, and Kung Fu Rabbit. Honestly, this months selections aren't that bad, I thought last months offers where way worse.
@hYdeks Its all I see every month. Personally I've still got a huge PS+ backlog to get through anyway from being a day one subscriber so I'm never too fussed. Β£40 for 72 games each year, a good percentage being ones I wouldn't have bought and tried otherwise, is good value to me.
For me it's not so much the games but the genre. Puzzle games are my least favorite genre by far and we get one every month.
Yeah this ones pretty craptastic. Of course we have to realize it's going to happen every once in a while. We still do get plenty of very good games for our $50 or so bucks each year though. They can't all be amazing. Let's give them some slack and remember that somewhere, likely in a third world country, someone is probably super excited for this collection of crap. Hopefully, next month is better for the rest of us.
@get2sammyb this is possibly the best use of this gif I've ever seen. Kudos to you, sir. Kudos.
@themcnoisy playstation had season one of walking dead a long time ago I picked it up and then got the second season of it for like $10 on a PS plus sale.
I don't see a problem here...most of these games have good reviews on this very website (multiple 8's and a 6) and two of them are releasing fresh to PSN so even if you have them on other platforms, it's guaranteed you don't own them here. Even if you DO have them on other platforms, you might wanna replay and earn some Trophies. And the total value of these games is still high enough that justifying the $50 a year is HILARIOUSLY easy.
So my question is very simple: Why are people complaining?
I don't mind paying for Plus, but it's about time they started offering better free games. We're well into the console's life cycle, it's about time we started getting complimentary Triple A games.
I don't think Sony really care. When it was just the PS3 and Vita Sony had to attract gamers to the service as it wasn't required to play online. Now the PS4 is out and doing really well, its now a required service to play online so Sony don't have to dangle a carrot to attract gamers.
Maybe Sony should stop the service for PS3 and in another year or two drop it for the Vita. Maybe then they can invest in better games for PS4.
Its not really an issue for me and most of my friends as we were on the Xbox 360 for several years which had a mandatory subscription if you wanted to play online, join partys, use the browser or just use apps like Netflix, YouTube etc. To me the monthly games are a bonus.
Free junk. I don't play online so having ps plus is getting harder to justify since I got rid of my ps3 and that was the only system decent free games came out for.
Yay! More games to add to my download list that ill never play
Had super meat boy on xbox 360 but wouldn't mind having it again on ps4
@Gamer83 seems far better I have both consoles thank god ps+ are getting worse outlast had set for me such promise
Sony should change name of service to PS Freendies...:X
With 1 good month i get my money back so Im not complaining.
@JoeBlogs You are spot on sir. If have so many indie games i love at the moment.
@Kaeobais Thanks- glad to know I'm not the only one who is thinking this.
@JoeBlogs And another voice of reason has entered the fray!
I'm incredibly disappointed, not just by the needlessly editorialised style of the article, but also with the nature of the comments and how they have been handled here. It's way out of control. I've enjoyed this site for years but I'm on the verge of removing it from my feeds and taking my time elsewhere.
.
I'm happy with Broken Age was gonna pick it up ages ago but didn't want to spend full price on it tbh SMB is a bonus for me
@JoeBlogs Agree, to a point. These are both decent games and they should be celebrated really. I'm glad we get them anyway, but the article is a tad unnecessarily negative. Sure, it could have been bigger games announced, but I don't think it should take anything away from what we are getting, which - as far as PS4 goes at least, haven't really looked at the others - are generally recognised as being quality titles. Would like to see some of that recognition in the article.. And the title doesn't really help, got everyone all riled up haha.
Hahahahahahaha wow. The comments really got out of hand there!
Seriously I'm perfectly happy with PS+ at the moment, can't wait to play SMB, Broken Age & Kickbeat. Every month there's always at least a couple things I'm interested in, and if I'm not then I'll give them a go anyway, some are really pleasant surprises!
And anyhow, I'm paying Β£40 a year for plus, and getting 72 games over that period as a result. It's crazy value whatever way you look at it. I'm pretty sure it used to be Β£30, and went up when it became mandatory for online play, so assuming at least a tenner of what you're paying is for your online priviliges, that puts the figures at around 42p per game.
Seriously, when you're getting 6 games a month for 42p each, you really can't complain regardless.
Also, inb4 "but you just made a forum thread complaining re the lack of an anniversary sale you hypocrite" - it is one thing to be mildly frustrated that a company with a fairly good approach to sales strangely didn't offer any discounts to mark a big occasion, it is another entirely to be entitled to the point that you get mad because that company isn't dishing out games to you for 42p each when they usually all retail for over Β£10.....
I dropped my subscription last month as I had not being getting my value for money. Most of my online play happens on my Xbox now and I have not played a Plus game for many months. I was hoping that this month would change that but not for me. I actually own the majority of the games already and I will say that Broken Age is the highlight here.
Very clever; this PS+ offering manages to simultaneously suck and blow. Thanks a bunch Sony
@SteveButler2210 as I only have a PS4, for me its limited to what I get.
SMB I tried regarless of the fact I didnt like its look and as I thought, I did not enjoy it.
Broken Age does nothing for me at all, point and click isnt my thing.
Its more the genres and similarites with many indies offered at the moment, I think the last time I saw an action hack n slash was Strider, which I loved, and cant remember the last non sidescrolling or retro stylised indie offered.
I play online alot and the discounts kerp me on plus, I just got Tropico, which is brilliant!
I hold out hopes for more DMC style games, or something like Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter perhaps, maybe even a Risk style game?
PS+ is great value for money even if we don't get free game's every month, so even though these game's suck I don't mind paying, it's Β£5 a month people.....a pound a week.
@xMEADx its the discounts for me.
Ive bought a ton of content for well under its asking price, with the extra, PS plus only discounts too.
Garbage month is garbage.
@SeePablo Right, because we shouldn't be able to voice our disappointment with something we paid for. We should just take whatever Sony throws at us and, like you said, be happy they give us anything at all. Lol, get real.
And no, I don't care about the 'passion and hard work' that goes into making these games, all I care about is if I like it or not. You can take the scraps Sony throws your way and beg for more from your master, but don't act like a prick when others don't feel the same way.
A bunch of smaller solid games, nothing to cry about, a fair amount to enjoy, ok month in my book
There used to be a comment here. Now there isn't.
I don't really think the indies we've been given have been way too similar, and there have been some decent 'different' games thrown in every now and then too (outlast, rocket league, dead nation, injustice, grow home for example) so it ain't all 2D side scrollers. Yeah more variety would be nice but I guess Sony are relying on these games being made in the first place. Anyway, I'll take Super Meat Boy over Black Flag any day
@JoeBlogs Amen Brother
@thatguyEZ
You are perfectly entitled to be disappointed, your opinion is your own. I just struggle to understand when I have been massively satisfied most months with the service I have gotten, I will quite willingly pay at least twice the asking price of ps plus' annual subscribtion cost in order to receive the service we have been getting. Therefore when I see people moaning all over the place, especially more than anything else the writer of said article from an online gaming publication saying such stuff as "next month's PlayStation Plus update really is a bad one" or "we've always felt that there have been redeeming qualities to the selections. This time, though, we're struggling to find one." Sammy is also entitled to his opinion, but as many have agreed the article is unnecessarily negative, personally when he's editing a playstation based feed i would find it pretty insulting to the service providers.
I guess my question to you would be, what would you want in order to be satisfied?
This however...
"And no, I don't care about the 'passion and hard work' that goes into making these games, all I care about is if I like it or not."
...is a real shame. But again, EVerYbOdY iS eNTitLEd TO THeIr OwN OpiNIoN, even if it does make you a greedy sonofagun.
That's enough -Tasuki-
@Johnnycide How bout I end it now. You got your point across now move on.
@Johnnycide I'm the friend Joe mentioned. He showed me your spiteful attack where you called him pathetic and said he lived in a 'sordid little griefhole' and I've read your other work here too.
Joe is a fantastic human being, I know this from 15 years of RL.
You are a terrible [LANGUAGE], I assume this from 3 posts.
I'm not being sarcastic btw.
VIDEO GAMEZ
(I'm not helping am I)
@Tasuki fair play, a nerve was hit and I overreacted.
@JoeBlogs you dealt with that like a gent. Sincere apologies, that was out of order.
@SeePablo I think the issue is they are not free. They are meant to supplement online play as an additional reason to stump up the ps plus fee. We never had to pay this in times gone by and letting Sony have a free pass isn't going to help consumers. Look at the whole Square Enix malarkey with the Deux Ex preorder scheme. That was scrapped after much negative publicity. Also, what happened to the voting this month? Did I miss it?
Summary: These games are not free. We have a right to vent frustration.
Even though I have a year subscription to the service, I'm still not really thinking that I wasted my money. There's so many games that have been free during the year, that it still all has paid out, and the fact that I don't have to buy them, just play through them and delete them (unless I find replay value with them), is a pretty good deal for me.
I never played Super Meat Boy (thought it was to come to the Wii Shop, but could never find it), so I'll give it a go, as well as the other title...other than that, when I had the 360 and a Live membership, I never found that very useful either...the freebies were one game per month and then ended up being the worst games that have been out forever and nobody really bought. The only thing that I wish sony would do, is put some of the retail-version of games on there...I'd love to try Bloodborne and some of the other goodies, but I guess I'll wait. Hopefully, into 2016, we're start seeing some more games arrive, since most of those games will be out for quite a while and start losing the hype.
@Shellcore I was wondering about the voting too. That seems to be something that was a 'one month time thing' and then ended.
@Shellcore So many people have gotten the wrong end of the stick with the vote to play promotion, and I'm baffled as to how because it was repeated over and over on the blog and the media at large that it would not be recurring on a monthly basis. They did it to test the water and said it would be an occasional feature, but did not give any indication as to when it would come up again.
I'm at a bit of a loss. I generally don't frequent games sites and the I only have Appygamer on my phone which I look at once a day. I actually sought out this site because of a couple of negative articles which popped up and I have to say that I'm shocked that it's a Playstation review site. I appreciate that criticism should be levied regardless however the lineup we've largely had has been decent. If people are really that hacked off at what might seem like 1 mediocre offering then jeez spare a thought for Xbox users who've had countless terrible offerings! Also some of the comments from people! Comments like ''glad I don't pay for ps+'' and ''this is exactly why I don't have it''. Sorry but I have PS+ in order to play mates online. If I get a decent game then that's a bonus. I also thought the actual article heading was pretty poor as it seems like it was done to stir up anger which has worked a treat. In the short few snippets re articles I've read this site actually comes over as anti Playstation which is a bit strange considering.
@RudolfsMate Too right.
@get2sammyb By the way, if anyone's not keeping track of the scores this very website gave the games:
Broken Age: 8/10
Chariot: 8/10
Unmechanical: 8/10
Kickbeat: 8/10
Kung Fu Rabbit: 6/10
No review for Super Meat Boy yet, but seeing as you describe it as the "highlight" we can deduce it will get at least an 8/10.
Oh yeah, terrible month. One whole game gets an average score. For God's sake how about you show some conviction in your own website before you start ripping the games to pieces? So disappointing.
@RawShark It's perfectly fine if you have a problem with the nature of the article, but you've now reiterated your point several times. Thanks for the feedback, but let's just cap it off here, please.
@ShogunRok Really? Each time I was replying to another person on the forum and trying to create a dialogue - and at least all the points were valid and I wasn't outright insulting or calling anyone anything. Now I'm getting passive aggressive warnings?
What's the matter? Am I hitting a nerve?
@RawShark No, everyone's been warned several times now to stay on topic, and now you're purposefully trying to goad a response from members of staff.
For starters, you told Sammy that he should "show some conviction to his own site", which, on a personal note, I find incredibly disrespectful, especially when Sammy, and all of us here, work as hard as he does on making Push Square successful.
Again, we're perfectly happy with criticism - any project needs it to help shape its future - but we're now on comment 158 of an article that is three days old, and you're asking me if you've "hit a nerve", and calling my prior warning "passive aggressive" when it's obviously quite clear.
If you've got anything more to say on this matter, please contact us via email, it's as simple as that.
@ShogunRok I don't believe I was being disrespectful in the least but as a show of respect to the site I'll end this here - but it was a fair point. It's not a case of goading anyone - Maybe if points like this were actually addressed rather than shut down I wouldn't feel so inclined to argue them. It's frustrating as I'm just trying to get a point across and I'm being treated like an effing troll. Remember respect goes two ways.
@RawShark If you're interested, we posted on the forums about the situation that occurred earlier on this article. Hopefully, it'll shed some light on how we had to handle things on our side of the story: https://www.pushsquare.com/forums/help_feedback_suggestions/ideas_for_the_site?start=140#reply-156
@ShogunRok Ok, thanks. I hadn't seen that. I've removed one of my comments - I'll admit I did go too far in that one.
@RawShark Thanks. I must have forgotten that detail. I wonder whether they will bring it back.
@Shellcore Sure you can vent, and I understand that we are paying for the service to receive these games, I just think the value for money and quality of games given the annual cost is absolutely fantastic and personally struggle to understand why so many people complain, the games are in my opinion very well selected to appeal to different audiences and of great quality. And we get all year to play online, I couldn't be happier.
I really don't understand how you could think Sony are getting a free pass.
For example, when grow home came out on steam, I was very excited to play, also super time force I was planning on buying on release, when both of these games were given away last month I was so cheesing happy. I would pay the annual cost of a ps plus subscription on a month by month basis if they continue to get it that right for me all the time.
What do people expect? That you get your dream game every month? Maybe people want it to be free again yeah? Free online, free games, free console, free controllers, free vr headsets.
Actually Sony should give us money to play their crappy games, and the game developers should read our minds to the extent they know what we want before we do! And they should all be masterpieces! And we should live forever! Mwahahahaha!
@Johnnycide It's ok we all have been there. After all the disruptions this article comment section has had, I am just trying to get things back on track. Thank you for understanding.
No big deal. Got too many past Plus games to catch up on anyway.
@SeePablo I'm glad you are enjoying the games being released for PS Plus. Of course I don't expect a dream game every month, just a variety with a couple I enjoy from time to time. My taste differs to others, I get that, which is why my displeasure doesn't resonate with your opinion. My suggestion would be to have a reduced level of entry for people who just want to play online. I don't seem to enjoy the content, but I have to sign up for it. This wasn't a problem before..it is now. Overall, I am happy, but felt the need to explain my position a little more.
Super Meat Boy has always been a "maybe" game. now it's free, I'll play it.
Well they've started going up on the store now. For what it's worth, Kickbeat is PS3 and PS4, not PS3 and Vita.
what a pile of @@@@ 40 quid a year sony treat us like idiots
