You may want to quickly check your emails before reading on, as Sony has been sending out invitations to the PlayStation 4 firmware update v3.00 beta throughout the course of the day. The platform holder opened registrations to the system software test late last month, so if you applied, there's a good chance that you may have been granted entry. This author was denied access. Not bitter, honest.
The platform holder's placed some heavy restrictions on this sampler, and is trying to stop people from sharing any information pertaining to it. Of course, this means that many are already openly posting about the new Communities feature, as well as uploading comparison images of the new PNG screenshot format. If you did get access, we'd recommend erring on the side of caution, even though Sony must have known that leaks would be inevitable once it let the public in.
Just in case you missed it, there's a full rundown of some of the new features and functions that you can expect from PS4 firmware update v3.00 through here. Did you get entry? Try not to break any terms and conditions in the comments section below.

The one thing that stopped me from doing this is the warning to back up your current saves and stuff before downloading the beta. I was like wow really great job of turning people off to the beta Sony.
Backup your system cause something could go wrong. Yeah looks like I won't be participating in this beta. I don't need to end up with a bricked system or all my hours put into Diablo gone.
I was reading this just now, got an email notification, got excited, nope reciept for a movie rental from apple.damn i want in.
Having played about with this new update, my feelings on it are mixed. The 10GB limit is obviously great.
The addition of communities is really good to but currently no way to search, no official communities and no language filters.
Grouping friends is a feature I really wanted, but for some reason when I group them it starts a group conversation too. Not what I wanted really but ok.
Psplus app is pretty good, happy with that.
Ability to add comments to friends activity is nice too.
TLDR....some good, some need work.
@Tasuki that is the same with any OS beta I've ever experienced, not just on Playstation.
Got my code this morning but I'm hanging fire for a couple of days to see if any horror stories crop up.
@milero91 Did you join the beta community? Might be an ideal way to give your feedback.
@adf86 Waiting a few days is a MIGHTY fine idea.
From the look of it I didn't get in despite being fairly quick on the draw. I'm not worried though as I keep remembering that I have P.T. on that harddrive and I really don't want to risk screwing that up.
The beta seems pretty solid, some nice features on it that are really great
@Tasuki I would say it's no different than any other update, beta or not, on any other platform.
@get2sammyb is this for eu too because i put my code in basically as soon as it came up but i haven't got a code
@Tasuki It's always good to back up up your data no matter what you are doing. Especially with betas because you never know what can happen which is why it is a beta. So, you can test it out. They also have to tell you that for legal reasons as well.
@Tasuki not to be offensive or anything but what would u expect out of a beta? to work properly no problems at all of course its gonna have bugs its a beta u should back up ur data for any os beta
@adf86 @milero91 sadly the community only has a Facebook-style wall, so it's impossible to have your voice heard/a discussion before getting swept up in a tidal wave of "woah this is cool" messages.
@Batman Nevertheless Sony might be monitoring people's feedback so any points you want to make may prove useful.
Nope I didn't get one and I been over this news checking every day since day one...
It would've been cool if we all got it...
@adf86 as much as I'd like to think they are, a forum post would probably get more traction.
It's OK, no friends online/offline notifications yet, no new folders, still can't delete some notifications, no new background colours....
@Tasuki To be fair it's a Beta and things are not guaranteed to run smoothly. It's like if you download a Demo of a game and then complain it's missing content!
Again, not trying to step on your toes!
Well, I'll be downloading it tonight after I play some more MGSV. I feel like there's nothing to worry about save file-wise.
