Batten down the hatches: the Star Wars Battlefront beta is merely weeks away. In news that will have the team responsible for keeping the PlayStation Network online awake at night, EA Games has announced that the open beta for the first-person shooter will begin on 8th October. It'll run through until 12th October, and will be available to everyone for free.
Master Jedi's will be able to enjoy three modes: Walker Assault, Drop Zone, and Survival Mission. Each of these options will be playable on a unique map: Hoth, Sullust, and Tatooine respectively. The client will be 7GB in size, so make space now. There will be a level cap of five imposed, however, and your progress will not carry across to the main game. Play it, we will.

PSN's going down on 8th October.
I will try to download this but I suspect there will be issues.
I don't know if I will pick this up at launch. There will surely be server issues and such. It only releases a week or so after Fallout to. I might put it off til Xmas.
Can't wait for this game! Been looking forward to a new Battlefront for so many years!
HYPE!!! I can't wait for this. Heck, I'm gonna make sure I don't have too many things planned for the 8-12th of October. I'm gonna play this more than I should.
Lets hope its going to be smoother than the RS siege closed beta has been so far...actually from what people have said the game is pretty solid(even tho i personally think its not going to be back to the RS glory days) the only real problem so far is that many people havent received codes after being told by ubisoft they would be guaranteed beta access on 24/09/15(i registered my beta code in june)..beta was originally going to be a couple of weeks,i hear now thats only going to be 4days(not confirmed by ubi tho)..still looking forward to trying siege as a lover of rainbow six series, just cant help feeling its going to fall a little flat...so excited for the battlefront beta, starwars was the first film i saw at the cinema(i was 6yo)and its something that has been a part of my life ever since, it really seems that EA/Dice are doing everything right...roll on 8october!
luckily we can preload it a day early I've preordered this and fallout 4 my holiday is going to be amazing
@teknium_ yea I got a access code because I won a code in a give away I put it in the website they said we will send an email haven't received it yet then they said today that there putting the codes out in waves and you might not receive yours until tomorrow man worst beta ever the game looks great thou
Brilliant just when I start my nights from the 8th! Any knowledge on how long the beta is lasting for??
Just realised Uncharted collection will be here by the time I start this beta! Not going to have much time to play the both and work... -_-
@jonny_aces 4 days till the 12th but knowing betas its going to get extended
That's annoying, I go on holiday on the 10th, and am 100% busy on the night of the 9th, so assuming that in all likelihood the servers are going to be bleeding under the strain of it all on the 8th I reckon I'll be lucky to get a game in at all!
Very excited to play this, hope it's good.
I doubt I'll be giving this a go but I will be mighty impressed if they can pull this beta off!
I like the "clear space" comment. I had to delete Arkham Knight to install the R6 Siege tech test. I'm now operating on a one in, one out system. So I'll have to start lining up some contenders to give way in the next week or so! On a related note, Sony...y u no support external drives!
I am all over this. Can't wait to play the full game.
@get2sammyb better not haha!
Because October 8 is my Birthday... And it'd be rather nice for this beta to go exactly as I want it to. If it fails then oh well, there's Uncharted to play but I really want it to run at least relatively well. You'd think DICE would already know what to expect for an online environment... Of course I've been wrong with this in regards to Street Fighter V...
