Sony's presence at TGS 2015 this week was pretty darn impressive, as it dominated the headlines with a slew of announcements. And the Japanese market appears to have responded, with a gaggle of PlayStation 4 titles leaving the show with awards. Winners included: Star Wars Battlefront, Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness, Dragon Quest Builders, The Last Guardian, Final Fantasy XV, Fallout 4, and Persona 5. Nihon Falcom's forthcoming PlayStation Vita exclusive Tokyo Xanadu also got a nod.
Of the ten titles selected, eight will be available on a PlayStation platform. That's significantly more than any other ecosystem, with the Wii U and smartphones not represented at all. Sony will be particularly pleased by the number of winners available on the PS4 – an incredible seven – as it may represent a turning point for the system and its acceptance in the East. With other enormous titles like Yakuza Kiwami and Dragon Quest XI not even mentioned, the future looks bright for the new-gen format.

Very impressive for the PS4. Good to see the other current gen console get recognition in the East despite being from MS.
My friend just summed it up best though: "They are driving the knife a bit too deep now"
@Volcanox Honestly, I think the Xbox One just benefitted from a few of the PS4 games being multiplatform in this poll. Even the most ardent Xbox fan would agree that the Xbox is as dead as a dodo in Japan.
@get2sammyb Not like MS tries over there.
I've got a question for ya Sammy. By all means don't answer it. Looking over the articles and comments etc. etc. my friend came to a good question: Do you own any of the other consoles? It just seems a bit...I don't know...he reckons one sided to the competition. Yes you can be a Sony fan, but it's probably not wise shooting down everyone else, especially if you want PS4 adopters.
@Volcanox
Microsoft did however try during both the original Xbox and 360 era, so I don't blame them whatsoever for not trying anymore.
@Volcanox
Sammy is arguably the coolest guy on the PS and NL staff IMO, but I agree, he seems firmly rooted in Sony's camp (not a fanboy at all, but just someone who was probably chilling on his Amiga while the rest of the world was playing FF6 or Super Mario World and / or playing Killzone when everybody was going online with Halo 2).
The good thing about being a one console a Gen owner, you dig deeper in that library and discover all of the Golden nuggets you would have ignored otherwise.
@sub12 Oh I agree. I find loads of gems in each console. However...probably not best to run a site and present yourself in such a manner. You want to sell it to other console adopters, not put them off buying it because you are striking down their purchases at every pass.
Nothing wrong with being in Camp Sony and loving it, but its another thing to perform bombing runs over the other camps.
@sub12 @Volcanox The first website I ever made was a GameCube one if it helps. My favourite console ever is the Dreamcast. It's undeniable that I focus on PlayStation platforms now, though — because it's my job!
@get2sammyb
I see, did you all off-shoot from NL? I think I recall this once being a PS move focused site, same with Pure Xbox and the kinect, but sometime in 2013 they became all-encompassing.
@sub12
Movemodo I believe it was and Kinectaku or something that. You're exactly right, these were simple offshoots of Nintendo Life at one time. Thankfully, both websites got expanded into something bigger and better.
Also, and this isn't directed at any one in particular in this comment section, just my opinion on what I've seen in general lately... People need to stop b*tching about the 'PlayStation bias.' Wake up, it's a PS-specific website. If you want all your rosy, Nintendo a$$-kissing articles that's why NLife exists. The biggest Nintendo fanboy haven on the internet. Same goes for if you want Xbox news. There's a great sister website called Pure Xbox that doesn't get near the traffic it deserves. Go there and converse with Ken Barnes, Dave Letcavage and crew. They're a fun bunch to chat with. As for this website, it's not PushSquare's job to pander to the competition, period. Nobody is running amok over the competition either. The problem is those with a heavy Nintendo or Xbox bias have become extremely sensitive this gen and frankly it's getting really annoying. If I were Sammy I'd start booting some people because the amount of crying in the comments has reached stupid levels. If you don't like PS4, if it burns your soul to its very that the console is selling well right now, that's absolutely fine, but then why visit a PlayStation website? Literally makes zero sense. And if the way people running a website dictates how you make purchasing decisions... sorry to say, there's bigger issues at work. I read Xbox magazine on a monthly basis and hate some of the fanboying the writers do (far worse than anything that's been published on PushSquare) but it has zero effect on how much I do or don't enjoy playing games on the X1.
@Gamer83 ive noticed an increase in people complaining about sony bias on this site which is kind of silly when you think about(there was a piece by sammy during the TGS coverage, some of the comments there were really bugging me)...nicely put btw ☺
@teknium_
Yeah, it just seems stupid to me. I couldn't give a rat's a$$ if somebody likes or doesn't like a certain brand. We all have our likes and dislikes. But 1. why go to a website for a brand you clearly detest? And second, and more curiously, why expect a brand-specific website to hype the competition? Completely and utterly idiotic.
It's also hilarious how facts are now 'bombing all over the competition.' Fact. Wii U sales are sh*t, period. Fact, Xbox One is not selling in Japan and, frankly put, the Xbox has never sold for sh*t in Japan, end of... Fact, PS4 is outselling the competition by a healthy margin. If anybody has a problem with writers on a PS website being happy about this or is moronically accusing them of arrogance, grow up and grow thicker skin. There is nothing wrong with stating facts. That's not arrogance, it is what it is. It's just like when Xbox Magazine boasts about Xbox One 'owning 2015.' It hasn't so far from a sales stand point, and world wide it probably won't (a big holiday may be able to make up for some sales in North America but that's it) but when I look at what will be available multiplat and exclusives, I don't think it's arrogance or crapping on the competition to say Xbox One does have the most appealing library. Of course, just like for the people who come here strictly to b*tch about Sony, not everybody is into Halo, Gears, Tomb Raider or Forza so naturally what Xbox One has isn't going to appeal to them. A lot of people need more than just Nintendo games, so Wii U isn't going to appeal to them. Many games Sony announced at TGS are niche for the NA and European audiences but niche titles, along with the likes of the Uncharteds, Street Fighters, Ratchet & Clank and potentially Horizon, if marketed right, help flesh out a lineup. Some people really need to get some perspective and it's not the writers of this website. It's not their job to report on anything other than what Sony is doing and right now there is a lot to be excited about unless you're a butthurt corporate slave for Nintendo or MS.
As for wanting to sell the console, again, not on PushSquare, that's on Sony to get the average person who doesn't obsess over games and visit websites everyday and in case people haven't noticed, Sony has so far done that better this gen than the other two have, although to MS' credit it has made tremendous strides to get into second. More impressive when you consider how bad it messed things up prior to the start of this gen and also give the fact that one of the 3 major markets avoids the Xbox entirely.
@sub12 What's wrong with the Amiga? Cannon Fodder, Speedball 2, SWOS and Frontier Elite 2. What a platform.
@Gamer83 Microsoft should build the os Sony builds the hardware and ethos. Winner - I can then play Sunset Overdrive which looked fantastic and drag my gamerscore over (90ish thousand) whilst building on my current lacklustre trophy 🏆 haul (level 13) Miss the automatic controller setup as well. I play inverted and have to swap it every time on PS4.
I love the articles here, like you guys I've played loads of systems. Still do. But @get2sammyb is fair and because the X1 has sold terribly in Japan his comments are bang on.
@get2sammyb You are dutch mate? Ik zelf ook chef.
@Flaming_Kaiser No? I'm English, lol?
