Street Fighter V PlayStation 4 PS4 Karin

Street Fighter V's roster is really starting to fill out now, and Karin is the latest character to join the stage of history. Announced at the Tokyo Game Show earlier today, the popular Street Fighter Alpha 3 brawler is back by popular demand. "Two years ago, we held a worldwide character popularity poll to find out who the fans liked the most, and Karin came in seventh worldwide," explained community manager Peter Rosas. She finished first in Japan.

"Karin is the young heiress to the Kanzuki Zaibatsu, a global financial conglomerate that possesses vast wealth and resources," the spokesperson added. "Her regal and pampered upbringing is what led to her high-maintenance attitude and razor-sharp wit. But behind her flowing golden locks lies a true martial artist. In Street Fighter V, Karin is a well-rounded character, possessing a wide array of strikes and moves at her disposal for any situation."

You can find more information about the character's various V-Skill and V-Trigger moves over on the PlayStation Blog, but rest assured there'll be a lot to get to grips with here. The reason that we're glossing over her moveset a little is because the Japanese publisher made another big announcement overnight: the Capcom Fighters Network. This is a community tool that will be built directly into the online suite of the firm's forthcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive.

Essentially, this feature will allow you to view heat maps of where fights are taking place, register rivals and friends that you'll be able to track, and peruse detailed match statistics. It's essentially a social network for the game, but it will include a dizzying amount of information. Have you ever wanted to know how many light punches your opponent has landed, for example? Well, now you'll be able to.

We've included some early mock-ups of the addition below, alongside Karin's announcement trailer. Are you getting excited for Street Fighter V? Throw a fireball into the comments section below.
